We report on the energy dependence of the photoemission time delay from the single-element layered dielectric HOPG (highly oriented pyrolytic graphite). This system offers the unique opportunity to directly observe the Eisenbud-Wigner-Smith (EWS) time dela ...

The availability of thin-film lithiumniobate on insulator (LNOI) and advances in processing have led to the emergence of fully integrated LiNbO3 electro-optic devices. Yet to date, LiNbO3 photonic integrated circuits have mostly been fabricated using non-s ...

We introduce a novel architecture for parallel frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) laser ranging (LiDAR). Using dual soliton microcombs, we demonstrate a parallel distance measurement with 24 channels requiring only a single FMCW pump laser and cohe ...

We demonstrate integrated optical continuous-travelling-wave parametric amplifiers that significantly surpass the amplification bandwidth of traditional Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifiers. Using a 5.55-cm-long integrated gallium phosphide waveguide, we achieve ...

Ring resonators have proven to be extremely successful for generation of temporal dissipative Kerr solitons, but their dispersion engineering is limited. We present a photonic-crystal Fabry-Perot resonator with record-high quality factors in gallium phosph ...

We demonstrate hybrid integration of an RSOA with an extended-distributed Bragg reflector (E-DBR) laser cavity implemented on a Si3N4 chip with monolithically integrated piezoactuators. The laser exhibits intrinsic linewidth of 4 Hz with laser frequency tu ...

We observed a novel 1/f-type frequency noise in Lithium Niobate and Lithium Tantalate microresonators, distinct from thermorefractive noise and originating from thermodynamic charge fluctuations, setting the linewidth limits for integrated lasers. A charge ...

We demonstrate a hybrid integrated frequency-agile laser based on an InP gain chip and an extended electro-optic Bragg waveguide reflector manufactured with a wafer-scale lithium niobate-on-insulator process featuring 10 GHz tuning range with high optical ...

We demonstrate an electro-optically tunable hybrid integrated laser self-injection locked to a mode of a heterogeneously integrated lithium-niobate-on-Damascene-silicon-nitride microresonator. An intrinsic linewidth of 3 kHz and a frequency tuning rate of ...

We demonstrate a compact soliton microcomb light source. The soliton is generated from a Kerr microresonator and amplified by an erbium-implanted gain section integrated on the same photonic chip. We achieved an output power of 7.9 mW at a compact device f ...

We demonstrate ultra-low propagation loss, lithographic precision, and wafer-scale manufacturing for high-density Si3N4 photonic integrated circuits using an efficient DUV-based subtractive approach. We show a propagation loss as low as 1.4 dB/m at 1.55 µm ...

We demonstrate a strip waveguide-based LiNbO3 photonic integrated circuit fabricated with a novel hard mask, diamond-like-carbon (DLC). The steep sidewall configuration exhibits tight optical confinement and dispersion control while preserving ultra-low lo ...

The hybrid integration of III-V gain media with low-loss photonic integrated circuits has advanced the performance of laser systems in terms of laser stability and coherence. The advent of lithium niobate on insulator (LNOI) photonics for self-injection lo ...

We demonstrate a turn-key microcomb source based on 100 GHz Si3N4 ring microresonator. The device is fully optically and electronically integrated in a compact box, which runs by pushing one button. ...

We demonstrate the integration of a Si3N4 Damascene photonic platform with thin-film lithium niobate on insulator (LNOI) via direct wafer bonding. This process enables fabrication of hybrid chi((2))-chi((3)) microresonators with Q similar to 10(6), as well ...

We demonstrate the first photonic integrated circuit platform using Lithium Tantalate (LiTaO3), achieving waveguides with low losses (5.6 dB m−1), Mach-Zehnder modulators with a 40 GHz electro-optical bandwidth and a 1.96 V · cm voltage-length product, alo ...

We demonstrate a novel class of lasers, based on the hybrid integration of an RSOA with an extended-distributed Bragg reflector (E-DBR) laser cavity implemented on a Si3N4 chip with microheaters. This enables us to reach sub-kHz laser linewidth with more t ...

Optical parametric oscillators enable the conversion of pump light to new frequency bands using nonlinear optical processes. Recent advances in integrated nonlinear photonics have led to the creation of compact, chip-scale sources via Kerr-nonlinearity-ind ...

We report broadband bright soliton microcomb generation in the emerging platform gallium phosphide on insulator. We demonstrate a broadband dispersion-engineered photonic-crystal Fabry-Perot resonator with record-high quality factors. ...

We demonstrate frequency-agile self-injection-locked lasers that exploit photonic wire bonds for connecting piezo-tunable Si3N4 microresonators to DFB lasers. Our devices offer intrinsic linewidths below 100Hz along with highly linear frequency sweeping ov ...
