We study the logic synthesis of emerging nanotechnologies whose elementary devices abstraction is a majority voter. We argue that synthesis tools, natively supporting the majority logic abstraction, are the technology enablers. This is because they allow d ...

Environmental energy is becoming a feasible alternative for many low-power systems, such as wireless sensor nodes. Designing an environmentally powered device faces several challenges: choosing the exact type of the energy harvester, the energy storage ele ...

New tendencies in the consumer electronics market present Multi-Processor Systems-On-Chip (MPSoCs) as a promising solution for meeting the processing demands of upcoming generations of user applications. MPSoCs are complex to design, as they must execute m ...

We describe an integrated biosensor capable of sensing multiple molecular targets using both cyclic voltammetry (CV) and chronoamperometry (CA). In particular, we present our custom IC to realize voltage control and current readout of the bio ...

We report a novel electrochemical sensor based on nanographite grown on platinum microelectrodes for the determination of bilirubin in the presence of normal concentrations of albumin. The albumin is a protein with an intrinsic ability to bind the bilirubi ...

Hardware Trojan (HT) poses a critical security threat to integrated circuits, which can change circuit functionality or leak sensitive data. HTs are typically activated under low-probability conditions by exploiting "rare signals" in logic circuits. In thi ...

A full remotely powered system for metabolism monitoring of free-moving mice is presented here. The fully implantable sensing platform hosts two ASICs, one off-the-shelf micro-controller, four biosensors, two other sensors, a coil to receive power, and an ...

With technology advances, the number of cores integrated on a chip and their speed of operation is increasing. This, in turn is leading to a significant increase in chip temperature. Temperature gradi- ents and hot-spots not only affect the performance of ...

Rapid single-flux quantum (RSFQ) is one of the most advanced cryogenic superconductive electronics technologies. With orders of magnitude smaller power dissipation, RSFQ is an attractive technology for cloud computing, aerospace electronics, and high-speed ...

We present a constructive method to create quantum circuits that implement oracles vertical bar x vertical bar y |0 (k) -> vertical bar x vertical bar y circle plus f(x)vertical bar 0 (k) for n-variable Boolean functions f with low T-count. In our method f ...

In this paper we consider the compilation of quantum state permutations into quantum gates for physical quantum computers. A sequence of generic single-target gates, which realize the input permutation, are extracted using a decomposition based reversible ...

We extend ambipolar silicon nanowire transistors by using three independent gates and show an efficient approach to implement dual-threshold-voltage configurable circuits. Polarity and threshold voltage of uncommitted devices are determined by applying dif ...

3D integration can alleviate routing congestion, reducing the wirelength and improving performances. Nevertheless, each TSV still occupies non-negligible silicon area: as the number of TSV increases, their effect on the chip routing is detrimental. The red ...

Compared to Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs), Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) provide reconfigurablity at the cost of lower performance and higher power consumption. Exploiting a large number of programmable switche ...

Nano-biosensing provides new tools to investigate cellular differentiation and proliferation. Upon the various metabolic compounds secreted by cells during life cycles, glucose, lactate and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) are of first interest. Nanostructured ele ...

In this paper, we present an FPGA synthesis flow based on Majority-Inverter Graph (MIG). An MIG is a directed acyclic graph consisting of three-input majority nodes and regular/complemented edges. MIG manipulation is supported by a consistent alge ...

Efficient evaluation of Boolean functions is a fundamental problem in computer science, impacting computational complexity and hardware performance. A natural way to evaluate Boolean functions is using circuits composed of two-input operators. However, syn ...

In biological applications and systems where even the smallest details have a meaning, CCD cameras are mostly preferred and they hold most of the market share despite their high costs. In this paper, we propose a custom-designed CMOS camera to compete with ...

Training Support Vector Machines (SVMs) to predict drugs concentrations is often difficult because of the high level of noise in the training data, due to various kinds of measurement errors. We apply RANdom SAmple Consensus (RANSAC) algorithm in this pape ...

Inexact Circuits are circuits in which the accuracy of the output can be traded for cost savings (energy, area and/or delay). In the context of advanced technology scaling and power density increase, inexact circuits appear to be very promising as ...
