The development of fast and mobile drug detection is an important aspect of personalized medicine. It enables the quick assessment of inter-individual differences in drug metabolism and corresponding adjustments of the dose. Recent developments of amperome ...

The Adiabatic Quantum-Flux Parametron (AQFP) is an energy-efficient superconducting logic family. AQFP technology requires buffer and splitting elements (B/S) to be inserted to satisfy path-balancing and fanout-branching constraints. B/S insertion policies ...

A novel CMOS image sensor is proposed to overcome the analog design limitations in Active Pixel Sensors - APS and large area overcome in Digital Pixel Sensors - DPS for use in bio-medical applications. The design includes a pixel level event generation mec ...

In the quest for energy efficient circuits, considerable focus has been given to steep slope and polarity-controllable devices, targeting low supply voltages and reduction of transistor count. The recently proposed concept of the three-independent gated Si ...

Conventional pharmaceutical processes involving cell culture growth are generally taken under control with expensive and long laboratory tests performed by direct sampling to evaluate quality. This traditional and well-established approach is just partiall ...

Wireless Body Sensor Networks (WBSN) are poised to become a key enabling technology of personal systems for pervasive healthcare. Recent results have however shown that the conventional approach to their design, which consists in continuous wireless stream ...

An approach based on multi-layer spiral inductors to remotely power implantable sensors is investigated. As compared to single-layer inductors having the same area, multi-layer printed inductors enable a higher efficiency (up to 35% higher) and voltage gai ...

With technology scaling, the wire delay as a fraction of the total delay is increasing, and the communication architecture is becoming a major bottleneck for system performance in systems on chip (SoCs). A communication-centric design paradigm, networks on ...

With the growing complexity in consumer embedded products, new tendencies forecast heterogeneous Multi-Processor Systems-On-Chip (MPSoCs) consisting of complex integrated components communicating with each other at very high-speed rates. Intercommunication ...

Three-dimensional (3-D) integration is an emerging candidate for implementing high performance multifunctional systems-on-chip. Employing an efficient medium for data communication among different planes is a key factor in achieving a high performance 3-D ...

The use of nanowire crossbars to build devices with large storage capabilities is a very promising architectural paradigm for forthcoming nanoscale memory devices. However, this new type of memory devices raises questions regarding how to test their correc ...

Reliability has become a significant challenge for system design in new process technologies. Higher integration levels dramatically increase power densities, which leads to higher temperature and adverse effects on reliability. In this paper, we introduce ...

This paper exploits the unique in-field controllability of the device polarity of ambipolar carbon nanotube field effect transistors (CNTFETs) to design a technology library with higher expressive power than conventional CMOS libraries. Based on generalized ...

This paper proposes a parameterized Support Vector Machine (ParaSVM) approach for modeling the Drug Concentration to Time (DCT) curves. It combines the merits of Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm that considers various patient features and an analytic ...

In logic circuits, the number of fanouts a gate can drive is limited, and such limits are tighter in emerging technologies such as superconducting electronic circuits. In this work, we study the problem of resynthesizing a logic network with bounded-fanout ...

Resistive Random Access Memory (RRAM) is a promising non-volatile memory technology which enables modern in-memory computing architectures. Although RRAMs are known to be superior to conventional memories in many aspects, they suffer from a low writ ...

Silicon nanowires are reported for their application in bio sensing area and their potential in the detection of various biomolecules. In the present work, freestanding two-terminal Schottky-barrier silicon nanowire arrays exhibiting memristive behavior ar ...

Approximate logic synthesis is an emerging field that tolerates errors in the synthesized logic circuits for better optimization quality. Indeed, in many computing problems, the requirement of preserving the exact functionality either results in unnecessar ...

Designing a power-efficient interconnection architec- ture for MultiProcessor Systems-on-Chips (MPSoCs) satisfying the application performance constraints is a nontrivial task. In order to meet the tight time-to-market constraints and to effec- tively hand ...

Double-Gate (DG) controllable-polarity Field-Effect Transistors (FETs) are devices whose n- or p- polarity is on-line configurable by adjusting the second gate voltage. Such emerging transistors have been fabricated in silicon nanowires, carbon nanotuges a ...
