An automatic methodology based on micro sequential injection analysis coupled to a lab-on-valve system (termed ?SIA-LOV) was developed and used to determine the ability of metal-based anticancer compounds to inhibit cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) activity. COX-2 ...

Heavy metal compounds have toxic and medicinal potential through capacity to form strong specific bonds with macromolecules, and the interaction of platinum drugs at the major groove nitrogen atom of guanine bases primarily underlies their therapeutic acti ...

A facile route to Pt-II complexes doubly functionalized with bioactive molecules through a bipyridine-type ligand is described. Initially, ligands L-EE (containing two ethacrynic acid units), L-EF (ethacrynic acid+flurbiprofen) and L-EB (ethacrynic acid+bi ...

Polyvinylpyrrolidone stabilized rhodium nanoparticles are highly sol. in hydroxyl-functionalized ionic liqs., providing an effective and highly stable catalytic system. In hydrogenation reactions, excellent results were obtained, and transmission electron ...

Retinoblastoma is a rare childhood cancer of the eye. Of the small number of drugs are used to treat retinoblastoma, all have been repurposed from drugs developed for other conditions. In order to find drugs or drug combinations better suited to the improv ...

Studying the compositional instability of mixed ion perovskites under light illumination is important to understand the mechanisms underlying their efficiency and stability. However, current techniques are limited in resolution and are unable to deconvolut ...

For fully-air-processed perovskite solar cells (PSCs), high-quality perovskite films and improved intrinsic stability are critical for high photovoltaic performance. However, strain, as a critical factor of perovskite instability, not only harms the effici ...

Rationale The Analysis of Oligonucleotide Modifications from Mass Spectra (Aom(2)S) was created to support the analysis of oligonucleotide mass spectra. This application complements the existing software tools by providing a comprehensive analysis of oligo ...

Complexes with general formula p,t-[Ru(CO)(PR3)(tren)]X-2 [R=Ph (1) or p-tol (2); tren=tris(2-aminoethyl)amine; X=Cl- or PF6-] were prepared from [RuCl2(CO)(dmf)(PR3)] by direct reaction with tren. The complexes were fully characterized by NMR (H-1, P-31{H ...

Solid-state proton conductors based on the use of metal-organic framework (MOF) materials as proton exchange membranes are being investigated as alternatives to the current state of the art. This study reports a new family of proton conductors based on MIL ...

Wide-bandgap perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are attracting increasing attention because they play an irreplaceable role in tandem solar cells. Nevertheless, wide-bandgap PSCs suffer large open-circuit voltage (V-OC) loss and instability due to photoinduced ...

Self-assembly of 5,10,15,20-tetra(4-pyridyl)porphyrin (tpp-H2) and 5,10,15,20-tetra(4-pyridyl)porphyrin-M(ii) (M=Ni (tpp-Ni); Zn (tpp-Zn)) tetradentate panels with the dinuclear p-cymene ruthenium clips [Ru2(p-cymene)2(C2O4)Cl2] and [Ru2(p-cymene)2(C6H2O4) ...

Although genomic DNA is the primary target of anticancer platinum-based drugs, interactions with proteins also play a significant role in their overall activity. In this study, competitive binding of cisplatin with an oligonucleotide and two peptides corre ...

Nitrile-functionalized pyrrolidinium-based ionic liqs. were prepd. and characterized by spectroscopic methods and x-ray crystallog. The application of these new ionic liqs. as reaction media for Suzuki and Stille C-C cross-coupling reactions was studied an ...

The high toxicity, volatility, and dispersion of the light aromatics, benzene, toluene, and xylene (BTX) pose a serious threat to the environment and human health. Compared to incineration, catalytic oxidation technologies for BTX removal offer benefits su ...

Technologies for the transformation of atmospheric CO2 to useful chemicals, such as formic acid (FA), are essential to combatting excessive fossil fuel use and will need to be implemented on large scale. However, hydrogenation of CO2 to (base-free) FA is c ...

In undergraduate level organometallic chem. courses students are usually taught that organometallic compds. are toxic and unstable in air and water. While this is true of many complexes, some are also non-toxic and stable in air and water. Indeed, bioorgan ...

Selective catalytic oxidation (SCO) of NH3 to N2 is one of the most effective methods used to eliminate NH3 emissions. However, achieving high conversion over a wide operating temperature range while avoiding over-oxidation to NOx remains a significant cha ...

Benzothiazinones (BTZ) are highly potent bactericidal inhibitors of mycobacteria and the lead compound, BTZ043, and the optimized drug candidate, PBTZ169, have potential for the treatment of tuberculosis. Here, we exploited the tractability of the BTZ scaf ...
