2,2′-Bipyridine (bipy) and an imidazolium-functionalized bipy ligand were used in the synthesis of palladium nanoparticles in water and in ionic liquid. The function of such ligands was twofold: first, as stabilizing agents to prevent the agglomeration of ...

The use of porphyrin-based photosensitizers with superior light-harvesting properties has enabled the power conversion efficiency of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) to reach 13% under full sun illumination. However, a major limitation of such devices cor ...

Perovskite solar cells with mesoporous TiO2 electron transport layers have previously reached >22 % efficiency at the laboratory scale (

A series of cationic metalla-rectangles of the general formula [(p-cymene)4Os4(OO.intrsec.OO)2(N.intrsec.N)2]4+ have been obtained in methanol from the dinuclear arene osmium precursors [(p-cymene)2Os2(OO.intrsec.OO)2Cl2] (OO.intrsec.OO = 2,5-dihydroxy-1,4 ...

Exploitation of drug-drug synergism and allostery could yield superior therapies by capitalizing on the immensely diverse, but highly specific, potential associated with the biological macromolecular landscape. Here we describe a drug-drug synergy mediated ...

Compositional engineering of organic-inorganic metal halide perovskite allows for improved optoelectrical properties, however, phase segregation occurs during crystal nucleation and limits perovskite solar cell device performance. Herein, we show that by a ...

Gold and rhodium nanoparticles stabilized by a cationic polymer can be readily modified by anion exchange to afford nanoparticles that may be dispersed in a wide range of organic solvents and ionic liquids. The catalytic activity of the Rh nanoparticle dis ...

Methanation of carbon dioxide (CO2) is attractive within the context of a renewable energy refinery. Herein, we report an indirect methanation method that harnesses amino alcohols as relay molecules in combination with a catalyst comprising ruthenium nanop ...

The reaction of pyrrolidine with a series of cationic diiron cyclopentadienyl complexes containing a bridging vinyliminium ligand gives access to piano stool monoiron complexes based on a five-membered metallacycle that includes a vinyl-aminoalkylidene moi ...

The interaction between oxaliplatin and the model protein ubiquitin (Ub) was investigated in a top-down approach by means of high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) using diverse tandem mass spectrometric (MS/MS) techniques, incl ...

Organometallic half-sandwich complexes based on ruthenium with aminomethyl-substituted 3-hydroxy-2-pyridone ligands exist in aqueous solution as monomeric O,O′-chelate complexes or trimeric metallamacrocycles depending upon the pH. We hypothesized that adm ...

The anal. of potential energy surfaces of ion pairs within the framework of an anharmonic oscillator model allows rationalization and prediction of m.ps. (Tmp) and heat capacities (Cp) of ionic liqs. (ILs) comprising di- and trialkylimidazolium or tetraalk ...

Cisplatin [cis-diamminedichloroplatinum(II) (cis-DDP)] is one of the most successful anticancer agents effective against a wide range of solid tumors. However, its use is restricted by side effects and/or by intrinsic or acquired drug resistance. Here, we ...

Electrospun poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVdF-HFP) nanocomposite membranes incorporated with different weight percentages (1, 2 and 3 wt%) of cobalt sulfide (CoS) were prepared by an electrospinning technique. The surface morphology, c ...

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are among the most promising photovoltaic technologies owing to their exceptional optoelectronic properties 1,2 . However, the lower efficiency, poor stability and reproducibility issues of large-area PSCs compared with labora ...

The interaction of two ruthenium-arene-1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane compds. ([Ru(η6-p-cymene)Cl2(pta)] and [Ru(η6-p-cymene)(C6H6O4)(pta)], termed RAPTA-C (3) and carboRAPTA-C (4), resp.) with the DNA sequence of the human breast-cancer suppressor gene ...

A combination of mass spectrometry, UV/Vis spectroscopy and molecular modelling techniques hove been used to characterise the interaction of cisplatin with human serum transferrin (Tf). Mass spectrometry indicates that cisplatin binds to the hydroxy functi ...

The use of ionic liq.-polymer in supported ultrafiltration membrane in vacuum pervaporation has been verified. The ultrafiltration membranes were impregnated by two ionic liqs. (1-ethenyl-3-ethyl-imidazolium hexafluorophosphate and tetrapropylammonium tetr ...

Triazenes are valuable compounds in organic chemistry and numerous applications have been reported. Furthermore, triazenes have been investigated extensively as potential antitumor drugs. Here, we describe a new method for the synthesis of triazenes. The p ...

A series of half-sandwich pentamethylcyclopentadienyl rhodium(III) and iridium(III) complexes [CpM(DBM/ HDB/AVB)Cl] and [CpM(DBM/HDB/AVB)(PTA)]-[SO3CF3], where Cp* = pentamethylcyclopentadienyl, the proligands DBMH = dibenzoylmethane, HDBH = o-hydroxydi- ...
