A CMOS imager is presented which has the abil- ity to perform localized compressive sensing on-chip. In-pixel convolutions of the sensed image with measurement matrices are computed in real time, and a proposed programmable two- dimensional scrambling tech ...

An innovative readout channel, based on analog amplitude modulation (AM) of the signals recorded by each electrode, is developed for high-density CMOS-based MEAs. This new readout method enables the design of a low-noise amplification stage while still rea ...

This paper presents the hardware realization and modeling of high-density microelectrode arrays including both microelectronic readout amplifiers as well as three-dimensional microelectrodes forming a fully integrated CMOS compatible system enabling resear ...

This paper proposes a new energy-efficient technique for high-frequency switched-capacitor stimulation systems. The proposed sequential high-frequency switched-capacitor (S-HFSC) structure employs a two-step charge transfer technique to reduce the voltage ...

A low-power digital charge balancing system, which ensures the safe operation of constant-current biphasic stimulation is presented. The concept of the proposed charge-balancing technique is to utilize a hybrid method consisting of anodic pulse modulation ...

This article presents a fully on-chip low-power low drop-out (LDO) voltage regulator dedicated to remotely powered wireless cortical implants. This regulator is stable over the full range of alternating current without the need of dedicated active circuitr ...

This brief proposes a low-voltage, high-precision, and high-dynamic-range current-mode analog winner-take-all (WTA) circuit. The proposed structure employs a new high-gain stage as a feedback network between the input node of each cell and the common node ...

The computational complexity of disparity estimation algorithms and the need of large size and bandwidth for the external and internal memory make the real-time processing of disparity estimation challenging, especially for High Resolution (HR) images. Thi ...

Stochastic resonance in a fundamental single-electron circuit, i.e., a balanced pair of single-electron boxes, is observed and presented theoretically, where the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the internal states stimulated by responding to a periodic subt ...

Inductive power transfer (IPT) is a developing technique for wireless power and data communication systems in the application of implanted medical devices (IMDs). Multiple implants are developed to cover large areas and satisfy the clinical requirements of ...

An impulse radio ultra wideband (IR-UWB) transmitter (Tx) using finite impulse response synthesis of the raised-cosine pulse is presented. Symmetric pulse combining technique is proposed to reduce the number of power amplifier elements by half. A novel all ...

Transient and endurance mechanisms in highperformance embedded non-volatile memory flash devices are investigated in detail. An extraction methodology combining measurements on equivalent transistors and flash cells is proposed to discriminate the effects ...

A readout method which is suitable for high-density active microelectrode arrays used in electrophysiology experiments is presented. Amplitude modulation of consecutive channels enables simultaneous recording and transmission of the signals recorded on mul ...

The necessity of applying fault-tolerant techniques to increase the reliability of future nano-electronic systems is an undisputed fact, dictated by the high density of faults that will plague these chips. The averaging and thresholding fault-tolerant tech ...

Une nouvelle approche basée sur des électrodes en 3D a été développée afin d’accroître le couplage électrique entre les cellules nerveuses et les capteurs d’une matrice de micro électrodes (MEA). Cette amélioration du couplage électrique obtenue par des ma ...

This paper presents a new approach for monitoring and estimating device reliability of nanometer-scale devices prior to fabrication. A four-layer architecture exhibiting a large immunity to permanent as well as random failures is used. A complete Monte Car ...
