A closed-loop system aiming at epilepsy control is proposed in this paper, in which electrical stimulation is triggered upon a decision aggragating different biological signatures of the seizure such as changes in the heart rate, blood flow in the brain, a ...

The theoretical analysis of R-fold modular redundancy with distributed voters - distributed R-fold modular redundancy in terms of reliability is presented for the first time to the best of author's knowledge. This technique is compared in terms of resistan ...

Journal article A sub-mW pulse-based 5-bit flash ADC with a time-domain fully-digital reference ladder: A Katic, Nikola; Cojbasic, Radisav; Schmid, Alexandre; Leblebici, Yusuf Published in: Microelectronics Journal (ISSN: 0026-2692), vol. 46, num. 12, ...

Stereo image rectification is a pre-processing step of disparity estimation intended to remove image distortions and to enable stereo matching along an epipolar line. A real-time disparity estimation system needs to perform real-time rectification which re ...

This paper presents a high-voltage, high-current implantable cortical stimulation integrated circuit aiming at supporting rehabilitation of patients suffering from stroke. In this context, a large area of the motor cortex needs to be stimulated, requiring ...

A new structure of low-power demodulator named 'separated-Vb' amplitude shift keying (ASK) demodulator is proposed. The circuit is based on the switching behavior of the core digital shaper with different bias voltages, which improves its operation at low ...

The advantages and drawbacks of Capacitance vs Voltage (CV) characteristics, trap-assisted gate leakage tunneling and multi-frequency charge pumping techniques, have been brought out through an attentive investigation of oxide defects in CMOS technologies. ...

Conventional motion estimation algorithms extract motion vectors from image sequences based on the image's local-brightness differences in consecutive images. Therefore, motion vectors are extracted along the moving edges formed by moving objects over thei ...

Providing safety of stimulation is a critical requirement in the design of biomedical electrical stimulators. Charge balancing circuits are required to guarantee safety of electrical stimulators. Chopped-anodic-phase (CAP) is one of the methods used for ch ...

Omni-directional high resolution surveillance has a wide application range in defense and security fields. The GigaEye-1 system, with 44 single cameras and 22 FPGAs, is capable of recording omni-directional video in a 360º×100º FOV at 9.5 fps with a resolution over (17,000x5,000) pixels (85MP). Real-time video capturing capability is also verified at 30 fps for a resolution over (9,000x2,400) pixels (22MP). The important capacity of GigaEye-1 opens the door to various post-processing techniques in surveilla

An omnidirectional sensor array system, for example a panoptic camera, comprising a plurality of sensors arranged on a support of predetermined shape to acquire data, wherein said sensors are directional and wherein each sensor is attached to a processing ...

The design of a high-density neural recording system targeting epilepsy monitoring is presented. Circuit challenges and techniques are discussed to optimize the amplifier topology and the included OTA. A new platform supporting active recording devices targeting wireless and high-resolution focus localization in epilepsy diagnosis is also proposed. The post-layout simulation results of an amplifier dedicated to this application are presented. The amplifier is designed in a UMC 0.18μm CMOS technology, has an

A new approach based on three-dimensional tip electrodes has been developed as a way to increase the electrical oupling between the neural cells and the individual sensors in a microelectrode array (MEA). With respect to standard planar electrodes, the ele ...

Multifrequency charge pumping analysis has been performed using a multiphonon-assisted charge trapping model in the view of analyzing the oxide region in energy and position that can be characterized using charge pumping (CP) characterization. Transient ph ...

This paper presents a case study of different fault-tolerant architectures. The emphasis is on the silicon realization. A 128bit AES cryptographic core has been designed and fabricated as a main topology on which the fault-tolerant architectures have been ...

An accurate 16-channel seizure detection system-on-chip is presented, which is based on extracting features from the compressed recorded data using multichannel compressive sensing (MCS). MCS is used to reduce the transmission data rate of sparse biologica ...

Panoptic is a custom spherical light field camera used as a polydioptric system where imagers are distributed over a hemispherical surface, each having its own vision of the surroundings and a distinct focal plane. The spherical light field camera records ...

A multiphonon-assisted model included in a Poisson-Schroedinger solver has been applied for the calculation of the capture/emission trapping rates of Si/SiO2 interface defects and their dependence with respect to the trap energy and depth in the oxide. The ...
