Enhancing the kinetics of liquid-vapor transition from nanoscale confinements is an attractive strategy for developing evaporation and separation applications. The ultimate limit of confinement for evaporation is an atom thick interface hosting angstrom-sc ...

NiOx is widely used as a hole transport material in perovskite solar cells (PSCs). This wide band gap p-type material is conveniently deposited via high throughput RF-sputtering, making it suitable for the industrialization of PSCs. Nonetheless, for the cells to pass accelerated degradation tests such as the IEC 61215 damp heat (DH) test, the chemistry of the NiOx film should remain constant at elevated temperaturs to preserve its optoelectronic properties. This study emphasizes that structural defects resu

Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) featuring high densities of selective metal binding sites represent promising materials for the extraction of toxic metal ions from liquids. This study presents a Zr‐MOF containing accessible thiol functionalities that demonstrates exceptional adsorption capacity and recyclability for the capture of lead(II) ions (Pb(II)). Structural characterization via Pair Distribution Function (PDF) and Powder X‐ray diffraction (PXRD) analyses revealed well‐defined Zr‐clusters interconnec

The systematic advances in the power conversion efficiency (PCE) and stability of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have been driven by the developments of perovskite materials, electron transport layer (ETL) materials, and interfacial passivation between the ...

The development of stable materials, processable on alarge area,is a prerequisite for perovskite industrialization. Beyond the perovskiteabsorber itself, this should also guide the development of all otherlayers in the solar cell. In this regard, the use o ...

Surface-based biosensors have proven to be of particular interest in the monitoring of human pathogens by means of their distinct nucleic acid sequences. Genosensors rely on targeted gene/DNA probe hybridization at the surface of a physical transducer and ...

Photoelectrochemical cells employing organic semiconductors (OS) are promising for solar-to-fuel conversion via water splitting. However, despite encouraging advances with the half reactions, complete overall water splitting remains a challenge. Herein, a ...

By hyphenating inkjet printing and flash light irradiation, Ni- and NiFe-nano-electrocatalysts of diameters below 2.5 nm with ultralow loadings below 2 µg·cm–2 are synthesized. To achieve this, nanoliter ink volumes containing Ni and Fe chlorides as cataly ...

Tailoring the interfacial sites between metals and metal oxides can be an essential tool in designing heterogeneous catalysts. These interfacial sites play a vital role in many renewable applications, for instance, catalytic CO2 reduction. Postsynthesis de ...

Single-atom catalysts (SACs) present a promising subclass of classic heterogeneous catalysts by maximizing metal dispersion and enhancing efficiency. Although high-density SACs (HD-SACs) are reported, their synthesis is typically constrained to specific me ...

Sustainable catalysts based on earth-abundant elements are considered as economical alternatives to precious-metal-bearing catalysts and could be impactful for many applications. Self-healing sustainable catalysts, which in addition to their 'green' charac ...

Using azolium-based ligands for the construction of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) is a viable strategy to immobilize catalytically active N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHC) or NHC-derived species inside MOF pores. Thus, in the present work, a novel copper MOF ...

Oxidation of graphitic materials has been studied for more than a century to synthesize materials such as graphene oxide, nanoporous graphene, and to cut or unzip carbon nanotubes. However, the understanding of the early stages of oxidation is limited to t ...

Solid‐state electrolytes (SSEs) enable next‐generation batteries due to their intrinsic safety and compatibility with lithium (Li) metal anodes. However, many SSEs, particularly sulfide‐based systems, suffer from limited electrochemical stability and high moisture sensitivity. Here, the molecular surface engineering of Li argyrodite SSE, Li 6 PS 5 Cl 0.5 Br 0.5 (LPSClBr), is reported using octadecyl phosphonic acid (OPA) and its lithiated form (Li‐OPA) in a single‐step coating strategy to stabilize both ano

The tunable chemistry linked to the organic/inorganic components in colloidal nanocrystals (NCs) and metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) offers a rich playground to advance the fundamental understanding of materials design for various applications. Herein, we ...

Organic ligands are used in homogeneous catalysis to tune the metal center reactivity; in contrast, clean surfaces are usually preferred in heterogeneous catalysis. Herein, we demonstrate the potential of a molecular chemistry approach to develop efficient ...

Atom-thin porous graphene membranes offer unprecedented carbon capture performance thanks to Å-scale pores that combine ultrahigh permeance with attractive selectivity. However, incorporating a high pore density has until now required high-temperature ozone oxidation, while oxidation at room temperature was found to be sluggish, limiting scalability. Herein, we uncover that graphene oxidation by ozone is constrained by mass transfer of ozone and concentration polarization from the accumulation of reaction b

Colloidally synthesised nanocrystals (NCs) are increasingly utilised as catalysts to drive both thermal and electrocatalytic reactions. Their well-defined size and shape, controlled by organic ligands, are ideal to identify the parameters relevant to the a ...

The use of molecular modulators to reduce the defect density at the surface and grain boundaries of perovskite materials has been demonstrated to be an effective approach to enhance the photovoltaic performance and device stability of perovskite solar cell ...

Carbon-carbon bond cleavage mechanisms play a key role in the selective deconstruction of alkanes and polyolefins. Here, we show that the product distribution, which encompasses carbon range and formation of unsaturated and isomerization products, serves a ...
