We consider the 2 -> 2 scattering amplitude of identical massive particles. We identify the Landau curves in the multi-particle region 16m(2)

We study the large deviations of the power injected by the active force for an active Ornstein-Uhlenbeck particle (AOUP), free or in a confining potential. For the free-particle case, we compute the rate function analytically in d-dimensions from a saddle- ...

We study a model of crowd motion following a gradient vector field, with possibly additional interaction terms such as attraction/repulsion, and we present a numerical scheme for its solution through a Lagrangian discretization. The density constraint of t ...

We present a numerical method for the solution of nonlinear geomechanical problems involving localized deformation along shear bands and fractures. We leverage the boundary element method to solve for the quasi-static elastic deformation of the medium whil ...

yambo is an open source project aimed at studying excited state properties of condensed matter systems from first principles using many-body methods. As input, yambo requires ground state electronic structure data as computed by density functional theory c ...

Impurities often play a defining role in the ground states of frustrated quantum magnets. Studies of their effects are crucial in understanding of the phase diagram in these materials. SrCu2(BO3)(2), an experimental realization of the Shastry-Sutherland (S ...

Parasitic oscillations excitation is one of the main point hindering high-power gyrotron operation for fusion application. These instabilities, besides being dangerous for the gyrotron components, could possibly degrade the electron beam quality before it ...

Eigenmodes are central to the study of resonant phenomena in all areas of physics. However, their use in nano-optics seems to have been hindered and delayed for various reasons. First, due to their small size, the response of nanostructures to a far-field ...

In order to study parasitic oscillation that may occur in a realistic beam duct upstream to the gyrotron cavity, the self-consistent linear and spectral code TWANGlinspec has been modified. The large inhomogeneities in the smooth-wall beam duct geometry or ...

In the last years, numerous seismological evidences have shown a strict correlation between fluid injection and seismicity. An important topic that is currently under discussion in the scientific community concerns the prediction of the earthquake magnitud ...

In this paper we consider, from the numerical point of view, a thermoelastic diffusion porous problem. This is written as a coupled system of two hyperbolic equations, for the displacement and porosity fields, and two parabolic equations, for the temperatu ...

We present an ab initio study of the spin-resolved optical conductivity of two-dimensional (2D) group-VIB transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDs). We carry out fully relativistic density-functional-theory calculations combined with maximally localized Wann ...

In this paper, we present a 3-D FVPM which features rectangular top-hat kernels. With this method, interaction vectors are computed exactly and efficiently. We introduce a new method to enforce the no-slip boundary condition. With this boundary enforcement ...

A finite volume method for solving the monodomain and bidomain models for the electrical activity of myocardial tissue is presented. These models consist of a parabolic PDE and a system of a parabolic and an elliptic PDE, respectively, for certain electric ...

The precipitation hardened CuCrZr alloy is used in fusion machines for the heat sink of intensely cooled plasma facing components (PFC) due to its good thermal and mechanical properties. Albeit, the feedback from its application in Tore Supra (French tokam ...

The magnetic field of the permanent magnet electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) ion source SWISSCASE located at the University of Bern has been numerically simulated and experimentally investigated. For the first time the magnetized volume qualified for elec ...

In the discussion on the use of the surface Laplacian (SL) of the distribution of bioelectric potentials on the body surface, the question remained open whether a complete specification of the SL of the potential over the surface bounding a volume conducto ...

The aim of the present work is to provide a better insight on the magnetic shear profile modification in the Switched ECCD experiments. Modelling of the plasma current density is carried on by the ASTRA transport code employed in both predictive and interp ...
