The electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) has the potential to mitigate the rising CO2 levels while storing renewable energy in chemical bonds. Copper is the only single metal electrocatalyst producing high energy dense hydrocarbons, albeit into 1 ...

Our current energy production is convenient and simple, but it is not sustainable. The negative impacts on our environment are omnipresent in the form of smog, extinction of species, and global warming. A major challenge of our generation is the transition ...

The valorization of carbon dioxide and its transformation into useful chemicals is essential as mankind consumes more and more fossil fuels, thus producing equivalent wastes. The storage of hydrogen, a promising energy carrier, is also of great interest in ...

The deactivation pathways of sulfonated carbon catalysts prepared from different carbons were studied during the aqueous‐phase hydrolysis of cellobiose under continuous‐flow conditions. The sulfonation of carbon materials with a low degree of graphitizatio ...

We describe a polymeric ionic liquid (PIL) derived from trimethyl(p-vinylbenzyl)ammonium chloride ([VBTAm]Cl) that efficiently catalyzes the N-formylation of amines employing CO2 and PhSiH3 at room temperature with low catalyst loadings in near-quantitativ ...

Catalytic dehydrogenation and hydrogenation of amines and alcohols are important in the synthesis of fine chemicals. Despite several efficient homogeneous catalysts having been identified, highly active heterogeneous catalysts remain elusive, although they ...

Carbo- and heterocyclic structures containing nitrogen-substituted stereocenters are recurrent structural motifs in natural and bioactive compounds, therefore constituting a privileged class of synthetic targets. In this regard, substituted three- and four ...

Enantioselective carboaminations of olefins constitute an attractive strategy for a rapid increase in molecular complexity from readily available starting materials. Reported here is an intermolecular asymmetric carboamination of acrylates using rhodium(II ...

Alkyl amines are an important class of organic compounds in medicinal and materials chemistry. Until now very have been very few methods for the synthesis of alkyl amines by metal‐catalyzed cross‐coupling of alkyl electrophiles with nitrogen nucleophiles. ...

Annulated pyridones are an importantscaffold found in many biologically active compounds. ANi(0)-catalyzed C−H functionalization of 2- and 4-pyridones is disclosed, providing access to annulatedpyridones via enantioselective intramolecular olefin hydro-ary ...

The thesis describes a simple approach for N-formylation of amines with CO2 and hydrosilane reducing agents, the use of organic salts as N-formylation catalysts, their physical properties required for high catalytic activity and their role in the catalytic ...

The industrial production of aromatic amines, essential intermediates for the synthesis of several drugs, dyes, pigments and agrochemicals, requires the use of heterogeneous catalysis. These molecules were formerly produced by the Béchamp reduction, a non- ...

Vicinal amino alcohols and diamines are privileged motifs in organic chemistry. As such, they have been targets of choice for exploring and developing novel and more efficient strategies in organic synthesis. In this context, the difunctionalization of ole ...

The tandem synthesis of benzimidazole and other azoles can be achived by the N-formylation of ortho-substituted anilines followed by a cyclization reaction. However, CO2-based N-formylations with hydrosilane reducing agents are base catalyzed whereas the c ...

This manuscript covers two main topics. The first part dealt with the organocatalytic conjugate addition of Michael donors to phenyl vinyl selenone. The enantioselective Cinchona alkaloid-catalyzed Michael addition using a-substituted a-nitroacetates has b ...

N-formylation of amines with CO2 is base-catalyzed and studies of salt catalysts reveal that the reaction is efficiently catalyzed by "free" floating anions of high basicity, as represented in the cover image. More information can be found in the Full Pape ...

Densely substituted fused aromatic triazenes can be prepared by [2 + 2 + 2] cyclotrimerization reactions of 1-alkynyl triazenes. The Cp*Ru-catalyzed cyclization proceeds well with both simple alkynyl triazenes and tethered 1-diynyl triazenes. Attractively, ...

The formation and further reactions of halamines during oxidative water treatment can be relevant for water quality. In this study, we investigated the formation and reactivity of several inorganic and organic halamines (monochloramine, N-chloromethylamine ...

Catalysis fulfills the promise that high-yielding chemical transformations will require little energy and produce no toxic waste. This message is carried by the study of the evolution of molecular catalysis of some of the most important reactions in organi ...
