We compute three-term semiclassical asymptotic expansions of counting functions and Riesz-means of the eigenvalues of the Laplacian on spheres and hemispheres, for both Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions. Specifically for Riesz-means we prove upper ...

Some implications of absolute geometries in the description of complex systems dynamics, at various scale resolutions are highlighted. In such context, by means of an analytic geometry of 2 x 2 matrices, a generalization of the standard velocities space in ...

The choice of the shape parameter highly effects the behaviour of radial basis function (RBF) approximations, as it needs to be selected to balance between the ill-conditioning of the interpolation matrix and high accuracy. In this paper, we demonstrate ho ...

Every newly created object goes through several initialization states: starting from a state where all fields are uninitialized until all of them are assigned. Any operation on the object during its initialization process, which usually happens in the cons ...

We study a nearest neighbors ferromagnetic classical spin system on the square lattice in which the spin field is constrained to take values in a discretization of the unit circle consisting of N equi-spaced vectors, also known as the N-clock model. We fin ...

The current study uses knowledge from digital architecture, computer science, engineering informatics, and structural engineering to formulate an algorithmic framework for integrated Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) of Integ ...

We prove the abundance theorem for arithmetic klt threefold pairs whose closed point have residue characteristic greater than 5. As a consequence, we give a sufficient condition for the asymptotic invariance of plurigenera for certain families of singular ...

We find all polyhedral graphs such that their complements are still polyhedral. These turn out to be all self-complementary. ...

In the Ebbinghaus illusion, observers overestimate the size of a target when it is surrounded by large flakers and compared with a control target surrounded by small flankers. We examined whether “objecthood” – the degree to which an object is a cohesive e ...

Visual working memory (VWM) is prone to interference from stored items competing for its limited capacity. Distinctiveness or similarity of the items is acknowledged to affect this competition, such that poor item distinctiveness causes a failure to discri ...

A highly versatile soft gripper that can handle an unprecedented range of object types is developed based on a new design of dielectric elastomer actuators employing an interdigitated electrode geometry, simultaneously maximizing both electroadhesion and e ...

Climate change is expected to strongly impact the hydrological and thermal regimes of Alpine rivers within the coming decades. In this context, the development of hydrological models accounting for the specific dynamics of Alpine catchments appears as one ...

We consider fundamental algorithmic number theoretic problems and their relation to a class of block structured Integer Linear Programs (ILPs) called 2-stage stochastic. A 2-stage stochastic ILP is an integer program of the form min{c(T)x vertical bar Ax = ...

We confirm, for the primes up to 3000, the conjecture of Bourgain-Gamburd-Sarnak and Baragar on strong approximation for the Markoff surface modulo primes. For primes congruent to 3 modulo 4, we find data suggesting that some natural graphs constructed fro ...

The goal of this document is to provide a generalmethod for the computational approach to the topology and geometry of compact Riemann surfaces. The approach is inspired by the paradigms of object oriented programming. Our methods allow us in particular to ...

Intercurrent (post-treatment) events occur frequently in randomized trials, and investigators often express interest in treatment effects that suitably take account of these events. Contrasts that naively condition on intercurrent events do not have a stra ...

We investigate finite torsors over big opens of spectra of strongly F-regular germs that do not extend to torsors over the whole spectrum. Let (R, m, k, K) be a strongly F-regular k-germ where k is an algebraically closed field of characteristic p > 0. We ...

Covariance estimation is ubiquitous in functional data analysis. Yet, the case of functional observations over multidimensional domains introduces computational and statistical challenges, rendering the standard methods effectively inapplicable. To address ...

The present invention relates to a location system, for locating at least one object within a predefined cell, comprising at least first and second receivers (A, B, C, D), first and second transmitters respectively, including first and second internal cloc ...
