Enantioselective Pd(0)-catalyzed C-H functionalizations of ketene aminal phosphates provide isoindoline scaffolds with high enantioselectivity at ambient temperature. The high level of enantiocontrol is enabled by a tailored monodentate electron-rich phosp ...

An enantioselective C-H arylation of phosphine oxides with o-quinone diazides catalyzed by an iridium(III) complex bearing an atropchiral cyclopentadienyl (Cp-x) ligand and phthaloyl tert-leucine as co-catalyst is reported. The method allows access to a) P ...

A chiral cyclopentadienyl cobalt(III)-catalyzed enantioselective [4 + 1] annulation of N-chlorobenzamides with cyclopropenes is reported. The cobalt catalyst engages in the C−H activation as well as promotes the C−C bond cleavage of the cyclopropene, rende ...

A novel class of chiral naphthyridine diimine ligands (NDI*) readily accessible from C2‐symmetric 2,6‐di‐(1‐arylethyl)anilines is described. The utility of these ligands, particularly one with fluorinated aryl side arms, is demonstrated by a reductive Ni‐c ...

beta-Lactams are very important structural motifs because of their broad biological activities as well as their propensity to engage in ring-opening reactions. Transitionmetal- catalyzed C-H functionalizations have emerged as strategy enabling yet uncommon ...

A chiral CpxRhIII catalyst system in situ generated from a CpxRhI(cod) precatalyst and bis(o‐toluoyl) peroxide as activating oxidant was developed for a C−H activation/ring‐opening sequence between aryl ketoxime ethers and 2,3‐diazabicyclo[2.2.1]hept‐5‐ene ...

The Catalysis Hub - Swiss CAT+, is a new infrastructure project funded by the ETH Domain, co -head-ed by EPFL and ETHZ. It offers the scientific community a unique integrated technology platform combining automated and high-throughput experimentation with ...

(+)-Bicyclogermacrene is a strained bicyclic and common sesquiterpene found in several essential oils. A short and good yielding synthesis of bicyclogermacrene proceeding in seven steps is reported. This terpene is used as key platform intermediate for a b ...

The 1,6-annulated 2-pyridone motif is found in many biologically active compounds and its close relation to the indolizidine and quinolizidine alkaloid core makes it an attractive building block. A nickel-catalyzed CH functionalization of 2-pyridones and s ...

An enantioselective nickel(0)-catalyzed reductive three-component coupling between aromatic aldehydes, norbornenes, and silanes affords directly silyl-protected indanol derivatives. A new bulky chiral C-2-symmetric NHC (NHC = N-heterocyclic carbene) ligand ...

Application of chiral derivatives of the versatile and ubiquitous cyclopentadienyl ligand has long remained an underdeveloped area in asymmetric catalysis. In this Perspective we highlight recent exciting results that demonstrate their enormous potential. ...

Densely substituted fused aromatic triazenes can be prepared by [2 + 2 + 2] cyclotrimerization reactions of 1-alkynyl triazenes. The Cp*Ru-catalyzed cyclization proceeds well with both simple alkynyl triazenes and tethered 1-diynyl triazenes. Attractively, ...

The development of efficient chiral monodentate phosphine ligands lags behind that of the bidentate congeners. This holds especially true for highly electron rich chiral phosphine analogues able to replace the ubiquitous tricyclohexylphosphine and tri-tert ...

An important challenge in enantioselective catalysis is developing strategies for the precise synthesis of neighboring congested all-carbon quaternary stereocenters. The well-defined transition states of [3,3]-sigmatropic rearrangements and their underlyin ...

The rich structural and reactivity profile of allenes render them versatile synthetic intermediates. However, application of allenes in organic chemistry is often attenuated by inconvenient methods of preparation. Herein we present an operationally simple ...

Directed Cp*Rh-III-catalyzed carbon-hydrogen (C-H) bond functionalizations have evolved as a powerful strategy for the construction of heterocycles. Despite their high value, the development of related asymmetric reactions is largely lagging behind due to ...

Chiral cyclopentadienyl Rh-III complexes efficiently catalyze enantioselective cyclopropanations of electron-deficient olefins with N- enoxysuccinimides as the C1 unit. Excellent asymmetric inductions and high diastereoselectivities can be obtained for a w ...
