We demonstrate broadband resonant supercontinuum generation based on stable bright soliton formation in Si3N4 microresonators with either anomalous or normal dispersion. The frequency combs have an electronically detectable repetition rate of 28 GHz, and s ...

Hybrid photonic integrated lasers have revolutionized laser technology by combining the scalable manufacturing of simple laser diodes with high-performance features such as frequency stability, opticallinewidth, and tuning linearity [1], traditionally only ...

Frequency-agile lasers that can simultaneously feature low noise characteristics and fast mode-hop-free frequency tuning are keystone components for applications ranging from LiDAR and distributed sensing to communication and quantum information processing ...

Dataset for the manuscript "Lithium tantalate photonic integrated circuits for volume manufacturing". DOI: 10.1038/s41586-024-07369-1 Contains all raw data and code used to produce the Figures and Extended Data Figures in the manuscript. ...

We experimentally demonstrate broadband degenerate continuous-wave four-wave mixing in long silicon nitride (Si3N4) waveguides for operation both in the telecommunication L-band and the thulium band near 2 mu m by leveraging polarization dependence of the ...

Dissipative solitons can be found in a variety of systems resulting from the double balance between dispersion and nonlinearity, as well as gain and loss. Recently, they have been observed to spontaneously form in Kerr nonlinear microresonators driven by a ...

A single-chip radio-frequency optomechanical system, consisting of a Si3N4 nanobeam in the evanescent near-field of a SiO2 optical microdisk resonator realizes displacement imprecision >30dB below the standard quantum limit at room-temperature. ...

We report more than 30dB second harmonic generation enhancement in SiN waveguide by all-optical writing of a persistent χ(2) grating. Phase matching peaks are observed for different writing wavelengths. ...

Integrated optics has shown itself very convenient for exploiting nonlinear processes as it results in high confinement factor, freedom of dispersion engineering and compactness. However, the choice of materials is crucial for the development of nonlinear ...

DUV photolithography compatible electrode fabrication method comprising providing at least one material surface to which at least one electrode is to be attached; providing at least one undercut non-photoresist material or support between the at least one ...

We demonstrate broadband resonant supercontinuum generation in a Si3N4 microresonator with normal dispersion. Rectangular bright pulses are shown to form directly using synchronous pulse-driving, generating a 2,600-line comb at 28 GHz repetition rate. (C) ...

The present invention concerns an optical waveguide device fabrication method comprising providing at least one optical waveguide or optical waveguide core; and depositing at least one silicon dioxide layer or material onto the at least one optical wavegui ...

The rapidly maturing integrated Kerr microcombs show significant potential for microwave photonics. Yet, state-of-the-art microcomb-based radiofrequency filters have required programmable pulse shapers, which inevitably increase the system cost, footprint, ...

Thin-film lithium niobate has shown promise for scalable applications ranging from single-photon sources to high-bandwidth data communication systems. Realization of the next generation high-performance classical and quantum devices, however, requires much ...

We enter the multi-stability regime of an optical microresonator to generate heteronuclear soliton molecules. Ultrafast electro-optical sampling reveals the bound structures of such soliton molecules, despite comprising solitons of dissimilar amplitudes, d ...

We demonstrate the generation of a supercontinuum spanning more than 1.5 octaves over the 1.2-3.7 mu m range in a silicon nitride waveguide using sub-40-fs pulses at 2.35 mu m generated by a 75 MHz Kerr-lens mode-locked Cr:ZnS laser. (C) 2019 Optical Socie ...

We demonstrate a hybrid integrated frequency-agile laser based on an InP gain chip and an extended electro-optic Bragg waveguide reflector manufactured with a wafer-scale lithium niobate-on-insulator process featuring 10 GHz tuning range with high optical ...

We experimentally investigate the effect of EDFA-induced pump ASE noise on cavity-soliton Kerr combs for 64-QAM transmission. We find that all comb optical carrier-to-noise ratios (OCNRs) are similar with a fixed pump OCNR and comb linewidths almost remain ...

We report on measurements of phase noise dynamics of microwave beat notes observed in low repetition rate silicon nitride based Kerr-comb generators and relate them to results from dispersion simulations and measurements. (C) 2011 Optical Society of Americ ...

We couple free electrons with nonlinear optical states and frequency combs in photonic chip-based microresonators. Intracavity nonlinear dissipative structures including optical solitons imprint unique fingerprints in electron spectra and their Ramsey inte ...
