While T1 measurements present multiple challenges (robustness, acquisition time), the recently proposed MP2RAGE sequence (magnetization-prepared two rapid acquisition gradient echoes) has opened new perspectives to characterize tissue microstructure change ...

Multi-component T2 relaxometry allows probing tissue microstructure by assessing compartment-specific T2 relaxation times and water fractions, including the myelin water fraction. Non-negative least squares (NNLS) with zero-order Tikhonov regularization is ...

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and white matter (WM) signal suppression techniques allow better visualization of both WM and gray matter (GM) lesions in such disorders as multiple sclerosis and epilepsy. Recently, a technique, FLuid And White matter Suppression ...

Objectives Microstructural characterization of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) has been shown to correlate better with disability compared to conventional radiological biomarkers. Quantitative MRI provides effective means to characterize micro ...

Purpose: To implement a method for real-time field control using rapid FID navigator (FIDnav) measurements and evaluate the efficacy of the proposed approach for mitigating dynamic field perturbations and improving T-2*-weighted image quality. ...

BackgroundDetecting new and enlarged lesions in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients is needed to determine their disease activity. LeMan-PV is a software embedded in the scanner reconstruction system of one vendor, which automatically assesses new and enlarge ...

Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) provides information that allows the estimation of white-matter (WM) fibre orientation and distribution, but it does not provide information about myelin density, fibre concentration or fibre size within each voxel. On the ...

Background: GRAPPATINI is capable of originating synthetic T2 images (T2(synth)) and T2 maps in one magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan. Purpose: To evaluate GRAPPATINI's performance in providing simultaneous morphological assessment of repaired rotator ...

Purpose: T1 Magnetization Prepared Two Rapid Acquisition Gradient Echo (MP2RAGE) with compress sensing (CS) has been proposed as an improvement of the standard MPRAGE sequence with multiple advantages including reduced acquisition time needed to provide a ...

Bodily self-consciousness has become an important topic in cognitive neuroscience aiming to understand how the brain creates a unified sensation of the self in a body. Specifically, full body illusion (FBI) in which changes in bodily self-consciousness are ...

Being a preliminary step for many clinical applications and analyses, accurate skull-stripping is a key challenge in MR brain imaging. One of its major difficulties arises from the contrast similarities at brain/non-brain tissue interfaces, in particular b ...

This review summarizes the existing techniques and methods used to generate synthetic contrasts from magnetic resonance imaging data focusing on musculoskeletal magnetic resonance imaging. To that end, the different approaches were categorized into 3 diffe ...

Purpose To develop a method for slice-wise dynamic distortion correction for EPI using rapid spatiotemporal B(0)field measurements from FID navigators (FIDnavs) and to evaluate the efficacy of this new approach relative to an established data-driven techni ...

While research has unveiled and quantified brain markers of abnormal neurodevelopment, clinicians still work with qualitative metrics for MRI brain investigation. The purpose of the current article is to bridge the knowledge gap between case-control cohort ...

Lesion load (LL), deep gray matter (DGM) and normal-appearing white matter (NAWM) susceptibility and morphometry may help in monitoring brain changes in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients. We aimed at evaluating the feasibility of a fully automated segmentat ...

The large spatial inhomogeneity in transmit B, field (B-1(+)) observable in human MR images at hi h static magnetic fields (B-0) severely impairs image quality. To overcome this effect in brain T-1-weighted images the, MPRAGE sequence was modified to gener ...

Eddy currents induced by switching of magnetic field gradients can lead to distortions in short echo-time spectroscopy or diffusion weighted imaging. In small bore magnets, such as human head-only systems, minimization of eddy current effects is more deman ...

Determining the penumbra, i.e., the at-risk but salvageable tissue, is crucial in the context of acute ischemic stroke imaging. Deep learning methods performing segmentation from perfusion parameter maps have shown promise in this regard. However, these me ...

The Magnetization-Prepared 2 Rapid Acquisition Gradient Echo (MP2RAGE) method achieves spatially uniform contrast across the entire brain between gray matter and surrounding white matter tissue and cerebrospinal fluid by rapidly acquiring data at two point ...

Purpose MP2RAGE T-1-weighted imaging has been shown to be beneficial for various applications, mainly because of its good grey-white matter contrast, its B-1-robustness and ability to derive T(1)maps. Even using parallel imaging, the method requires long a ...
