3-D monolithic integration (3DMI), also termed as sequential integration, is a potential technology for future gigascale circuits. Since the device layers are processed in sequential order, the size of the vertical contacts is similar to traditional contac ...

Logic synthesis is a fundamental step in the realization of modern integrated circuits. It has traditionally been employed for the optimization of CMOS-based designs, as well as for emerging technologies and quantum computing. Recently, it found applicatio ...

In this work we present a multi-path routing strategy that guarantees in-order packet delivery for Networks on Chips (NoCs). We present a design methodology that uses the routing strategy to optimally spread the traffic in the NoC to minimize the network b ...

Digital image processing and epi-fluorescence microscopy provide one of the main and basic tools for living biological cells analysis and studying. Developing, testing and comparing those image processing methods properly require the use of a controlled en ...

Logic rewriting is a powerful optimization technique that replaces small sections of a Boolean network with better implementations. Typically, exact synthesis is used to compute optimum replacement on-the-fly, with possible support for Boolean don't cares. ...

Emerging applications are dramatically changing computer architecture requirements, with a shift toward big data that is processed using simple computations. A programmable logic-in-memory (PLiM) computer can allow memory cells to perform primitive logic o ...

The rapid growth of cloud computing has intensified the need for secure data outsourcing solutions. Fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) offers a promising approach by enabling computations on encrypted data without exposing the plaintext. This paper advance ...

Reducing sensing time is one major concern in clinical diagnostics. In the present work, a robust measurement system is developed aiming at the faster and easier signal acquisition of memristive biosensors. Sensing chips consisting of nanofabricated silico ...

In addition to scaling semiconductor devices down to their physical limit, novel devices show enhanced functionality compared to conventional CMOS. At advanced technology nodes, many devices exhibit ambipolar behavior, i.e., they show n- and p-type charact ...

The key-point for the development of an amperometric sensor is the immobilization of the enzyme. In the present work we use biosensors based on glucose oxidase (GOD) onto electrodes nanostructured with carbon nanotubes (CNT), to be employed in cell culture ...

Quantum memory management is becoming a pressing problem, especially given the recent research effort to develop new and more complex quantum algorithms. The only existing automatic method for quantum states clean-up relies on the availability of many extr ...

Memristors are the two-terminal components that complete the symmetry between the fundamental circuit variables, and they are highly suitable for bioinspired and neuralnetwork-based computational systems due to their inherent memory effect. In this paper w ...

Real-time (RT) communication support is a critical requirement for many complex embedded applications which are currently targeted to Network-on-chip (NoC) platforms. In this paper, we present novel methods to efficiently calculate worst- case bandwidth an ...

Exact synthesis is the problem of finding logic networks that represent given Boolean functions and respect given constraints. With exact synthesis it is possible to find optimum networks, e.g., in size or depth; consequently, it primarily finds applicatio ...

High quality CMOS image sensors are of great importance for LoC - Lab-on-Chip devices based on optical measurements. The main target in these devices is to minimize the cost and area while achieving a good resolution. The performance parameters of image se ...

We report the first selective growth of nanographite petals and various carbon nanomaterials onto a multipanel electrochemical platform. Different types of nanomaterials can be obtained by fine-tuning the growth parameters of the chemical vapor deposition ...

Distributing power and ground to a vertically integrated system is a complex and difficult task. Interplane communication and power delivery are achieved by through silicon vias (TSVs) in most of the manufacturing techniques for three-dimensional (3-D) cir ...

This paper describes the electrochemical investigation of two multi-walled carbon nanotube-based electrodes using potassium ferricyanide as a benchmark redox system. Carbon nanotubes were fabricated by chemical vapor deposition on silicon wafer with campho ...

The paper reviews some popular techniques to harvest energy for implantable biosensors. For each technique, the advantages and drawbacks are discussed. Emphasis is placed to the inductive links, able to deliver power wirelessly through the biological tissu ...

Process variation in future technologies can cause severe performance degradation since different parts of the shared Register File (RF) in VLIW processors may operate at various speeds. In this paper we present a complete approach that handles speed varia ...
