Given a set of logic primitives and a Boolean function, exact synthesis finds the optimum representation (e.g., depth or size) of the function in terms of the primitives. Due to its high computational complexity, the use of exact synthesis is limite ...

On-chip implementation of multiprocessor systems needs to planarise the interconnect networks onto the silicon floorplan. Compared with traditional ASIC/SoC architectures, Multiprocessor Systems on Chips (MPSoC) node processors are homogeneous, and MPSoC n ...

quantum-flux-parametron (AQFP) logic is a superconductor logic family whose energy efficiency approaches theoretical limits. Because AQFP logic gates depend on a polyphase excitation current to perform their computation, gate fanins must arrive at the appr ...

Nowadays, there is an immense interest regarding new bio-sensing technologies, highlighting the need for effective validation of their capabilities. This necessity is more crucial when examining the proprieties of a sensor for continuous monitoring of a co ...

In this work we describe the realization of monometallic nanostructures by two simple electrodeposition steps. The surface of the modified electrode was characterized by scanning electron microscopy that confirms a homogeneous deposition of Pt nanospheres ...

Wearable devices, e.g. smart-watches, are gaining popularity in many fields and in wellness monitoring too. In this paper we propose an IoT application to alert the medical doctor assigned to a critical unit by using a smart-watch. The wearable device impr ...

This work envisions a common design methodology, applicable for every interconnect level and based on early wire characterization, to provide a faster convergence to a feasible and robust design. We claim that such a novel design methodology is vital for u ...

In this paper, we present the EPFL combinational benchmark suite. We aim at completing existing benchmark suites by focusing only on natively combinational benchmarks. The EPFL combinational benchmark suite consists of 23 combinational circuits desi ...

The aim of the present invention is a method to achieve the customization of the communication network of a multicore communication system. This goal is achieved thanks to a method to design a multicore communication system, said communication system compr ...

Wearable physiology is an expanding field, especially for sports applications that steadily require an accurate monitoring of the physical status of athletes. This work presents the co-design and the realization of an hardware front-end that enables multi- ...

This paper represents the extended version of the conference paper “Developing highly-integrated subcutaneous biochips for remote monitoring of human metabolism” pre- sented at the IEEE Sensors Conference 2012, and presents data on assembly, packaging and ...

Several alternative building blocks have been proposed to replace planar transistors, among which a prominent spot belongs to nanometric laments such as Silicon NanoWires (SiNWs) and Carbon NanoTubes (CNTs). However, chips leveraging these nanoscale struct ...

The use of multi-core clusters is a promising option for data-intensive embedded applications such as multi-modal sensor fusion, image understanding, mobile augmented reality. In this paper, we propose a power-efficient 3-D on-chip interconnect for multi-c ...

Lithium is the main mood stabilizer in bipolar disorders and other psychiatric conditions. However, lithium levels in blood must be monitored frequently during therapies because of its narrow therapeutic range. For this reason the patients, whose quality o ...

In this paper, we study the post-fabrication phenomenon of natural oxidation of the Ti layer observed in a Pt/HfO2/Ti/Pt Resistive Random Access Memory (OxRRAM) stack with no external influence. We identify that the resistance ratio decreases by ...

We report on the electrochemical detection of anti-cancer drugs in human serum with sensitivity values in the range of 8–925 nA/µM. Multi-walled carbon nanotubes were functionalized with three different cytochrome P450 isoforms (CYP1A2, CYP2B6, and CYP3A4) ...

In silico modeling of gene regulatory networks has gained some momentum recently due to increased interest in analyzing the dynamics of biological systems. This has been further facilitated by the increasing availability of experimental data on gene–gene, ...

Global interconnect design for threedimensional integrated circuits is a crucial task. Despitethe importance of this task, limited results related to global issues have been presented. Challenges in reliably distributing power, ground, and the clock signal ...

We present a flow for synthesizing quantum operations that are defined by classical combinational functions. The discussion will focus on out-of-place computation, i.e., U-f : vertical bar x >vertical bar y >vertical bar 0 >(k) -> vertical bar x >vertical ...

As feature sizes decrease, power dissipation and heat generation density exponentially increase. Thus, temperature gradients in Multiprocessor Systems on Chip (MPSoCs) can seriously impact system performance and reliability. Thermal balancing policies base ...
