Overall urea electrolysis has favorable thermodynamic properties and can complement traditional water splitting by simultaneously purifying urea-rich waste streams. However, the kinetics of the reaction is slow and more efficient catalysts are required. In ...

Hydrogen bonding in ionic liquids based on the 1-(2'-hydroxylethyl)-3-methylimidazolium cation (C(2)OHmim) and various anions (A) of differing H-bond acceptor strength, viz. hexafluorophosphate PF6, tetrafluoroborate BF4, bis-(trifluoro ...

A method based on the coupling of high resolution size-exclusion liquid chromatography using a polymer stationary phase with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry was developed to study the interactions of two metallodrugs - cisplatin and RAPTA-T - ...

Following our strategy of coupling cyclin-dependent kinase (Cdk) inhibitors with organometallic moieties to improve their physicochemical properties and bioavailability, five organoruthenium complexes (1c-5c) of the general formula [RuCl(eta(6)-arene)(L)]C ...

The hydrogenation of amides to amines is an important reaction in the synthesis of building blocks in organic chemistry. However, the solvent-free hydrogenation of amides (requiring heterogeneous catalysts and high reaction temperatures) is challenging, wi ...

Biphasic and multiphasic processes have emerged as effective methods to reduce the amount of volatile organic solvents used in the manufacture of chemicals. In this article some of the research conducted in my laboratory in this domain utilizing ionic liqu ...

Perovskite solar modules (PSMs) show outstanding power conversion efficiencies (PCEs), but long-term operational stability remains problematic. We show that incorporating N,N-dimethylmethyleneiminium chloride into the perovskite precursor solution formed d ...

Mechanical residual stresses within multilayer thin-film device stacks become problematic during thermal changes because of differing thermal expansion and contraction of the various layers. Thin-film photovoltaic (PV) devices are a prime example where thi ...

Direct reaction between [Cr(CO)6] and arenes with ionic substituents affords the corresponding arene-chromium tricarbonyl complexes, [Cr(CO)3(arene)], in only modest yield. In contrast, these complexes can be prepared in pure form in ...

Poly-vinylpyrrolidone (PVP) stabilized nanoparticle (NP) catalysts are among the most active NP catalysts demonstrating excellent activities and stabilities in a wide and diverse range of reactions. One of the main limitations, that tend to prevent their u ...

In this work, a series of passivating salts for perovskite solar cells (PSCs) based on ortho-methylammonium iodide functional units are molecularly engineered to study the steric hindrance driven passivation effect. The incorporation of fluorine atoms into ...

The direct carboxylation of aromatic alkynes with CO2, a cheap and widely available C1 source, is the most attractive method for the synthesis of carboxylic acids. Here we show that direct carboxylation of terminal alkynes can be simply performed in near-q ...

DFT methods in combination with NMR spectroscopy are used to investigate possible variants of the mol. structure of the ion pairs of the ionic liq. (IL) 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, [EMIM][BF4], in dichloromethane. According to the comput ...

Single walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) are emerging as promising delivery vehicles for cancer diagnostics and chemotherapies due to their unique properties, including, remarkable cell membrane penetrability, high drug-carrying capacities, pH-dependent ther ...

Nowadays, gold compounds occupy a relevant position constituting a promising class of experimental anticancer metallodrugs. Several research efforts have been devoted to the investigations of the pharmacological properties of gold(I) complexes bearing phos ...

Four arene osmium complexes were prepared containing derivatives of ethacrynic acid, a potent inhibitor of glutathione Stransferases, either by direct coordination or via N- or P-donor ligands. The complexes were characterized by spectroscopic and analytic ...

The cationic complexes [(η6-arene)Ru(SC5H4NH)3]2+, arene being C6H6 (1), MeC6H5 (2), p-iPrC6H4Me (3) or C6Me6 (4), have been synthesized from the reaction of 4-pyridinethiol with the corresponding precursor (η6-arene)2Ru2(μ2-Cl)2Cl2 and isolated as the chl ...

We describe the use of CO2 as a promising C1 source instead of CO in the tandem Pauson-Khand reaction. The reaction is achieved by combining the reduction of CO2 to CO using a metal organic framework (MOF) catalyst with homogeneous rhodium catalysts for th ...

The electrochemical stability of ionic liquids based on the 1-ethyl-3-methyl imidazolium EMIM cation and three different anions, dicyanoamide (N(CN)(2)), tricyanomethanide (C(CN)(3)) and tetracyanoborate (B(CN)(4)), has been investigate ...

We report herein on the development of Ni-based catalyst using activated carbon fibres (ACFs) as a structured support and its application for the three‐phase hydrogenation of nitroarenes (T = 353 K; P = 10 bar). It was shown that metallic Ni0 nanoparticles ...
