Compounds that combine metal-based drugs with covalently linked targeted organic agents have been shown, in some instances, to exhibit superior anticancer properties compared to the individual counterparts. Within this framework, we prepared a series of or ...

The hydrogenation of phenylacetone to cyclohexylacetone, in which the aromatic ring is selectively reduced in preference to the carbonyl group, has been achieved with chemoselectivities exceeding 90%. The catalyst (precatalyst) used to achieve this transfo ...

The protein binding of anticancer metallodrugs is regarded as an important part in their mode of action both for delivering the active moiety into the tumor but also being responsible for deactivation and/or unwanted side effects. Characterization of prote ...

In comparison with Ru-II-arene compounds, the medicinal potential of homologous Ru-II-tpm compounds [tpm = tris(pyrazolyl)methane] is underexplored. Pyridine, 4-pyridinemethanol and four functionalized pyridines, synthesized from the esterification of 4-py ...

Protein-based nanomedicines represent a paradigm shift in cancer theranostics, capitalizing on superior biocompatibility, molecular recognition, and multifunctional adaptability. This review delineates their evolution from supramolecular self-assembly to a ...

The Cover Feature shows the application of a pyrrolidinium-based ionic liquid with a borohydride anion to simultaneously capture and reduce large amounts of CO2. The ionic liquid cation interacts with CO2, allowing the borohydride to fix and reduce it to t ...

Pleural mesothelioma is a fatal disease with limited treatment options. Recently, pleural mesothelioma management has improved with the development of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI). In first-line therapy, dual PD-1 and CTLA-4 blockade enhances tumor c ...

New polynuclear organometallic Platinum Group Metal (PGM) complexes containing di- and tripyridyl ester ligands have been synthesised and characterised using analytical and spectroscopic techniques including H-1, C-13 NMR and infrared spectroscopy. Reactio ...

Drug combinations are extensively used to treat cancer and are often selected according to complementary mechanisms. Here, we describe a cell-based high-throughput screening assay for identification of synergistic combinations between broadly applied plati ...

Monodispersed Pd nanoparticles of 5 and 10 nm were obtained via reduction of Pd(acac)2 dissolved in ionic liquid (IL), [bmim][PF6], or [bmimOH][TF2N], supported on carbon nanofibers (CNF) anchored to sintered metal fibers (SMF). Using [bmimOH][TF2N], the m ...

We described herein a simple approach for N-formylation with CO2 and hydrosilane reducing agents. Fluoride and hydroxide salts efficiently catalyzed the reaction, principally through activation of the hydrosilanes, which led to hydrosilane reactivities com ...

Background: The RAPTA-EA1 complex [ruthenium(II)-arene 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane (pta) complex with an arene-tethered ethacrynic acid ligand] has been reported to overcome drug resistance that developed due to the current use of platinum-based treat ...

A series of bioactive molecules were synthesized from the condensation of aspirin or chlorambucil with terminal alkynes bearing alcohol or amine substituents. Insertion of the resulting alkynes into the iron-carbyne bond of readily accessible diiron bis(cy ...

An organometallic ruthenium(II) arene compound, Ru((6)-toluene)(PTA)Cl-2 (PTA=1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane), termed RAPTA-T, exerts promising antimetastatic properties. In this study, the effects of RAPTA-T on BRCA1-defective HCC1937 breast cancer cell ...

Biogas upgrading technologies are crucial for the production of high-purity biomethane. Efficient CO2 removal methods that are currently commercialized rely on "catch-and-release" mechanisms, and the CO2 stream is usually discharged into the atmosphere wit ...

Two bifunctional ruthenium(II)-p-cymene complexes with perfluorinated side chains, attached via pyridine ligands, have been evaluated in a series of in vitro and in vivo assays. Their effects on human endothelial (ECRF24 and HUVEC) cells, noncancerous huma ...

Catalytic dehydrogenation and hydrogenation of amines and alcohols are important in the synthesis of fine chemicals. Despite several efficient homogeneous catalysts having been identified, highly active heterogeneous catalysts remain elusive, although they ...

We have recently reported a series of half-sandwich ruthenium(ii) complexes with curcuminoid ligands showing excellent cytotoxic activities (particularly ionic derivatives containing PTA (PTA = 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane). In the present study, new m ...

Besides further improvement in the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of perovskite solar cells (PSC), their long-term stability must also be ensured. Additives such as organic cations with halide counter anions are considered promising candidates to addres ...

Structured supported ionic liquid-phase (SSILP) catalysis is a new concept with the advantages of ionic liquids (ILs) used as solvents for homogeneous catalyst and the further benefits of structured heterogeneous catalysts. This is achieved by confining th ...
