A key challenge in the production of lignin-derived chemicals is to reduce the energy intensive processes used in their production. Here, we show that well-defined Rh nanoparticles dispersed in sub-micrometer size carbon hollow spheres, are able to hydroge ...

Formation of a vacant coordination site on a Ru center permits an unusual binding of small molecules such as ethylene, acetylene, and dihydrogen, resulting in the transformation of the chelating β-diketiminate ligand to a β-diimine. These represe ...

A series of salts composed of the coordinatively unsatd. areneruthenium β-diketiminato cation and different anions, [(η6-C6H6)Ru(ArN:CMeCHCMe:NAr)][X] (1-4; Ar = 2,6-dimethylphenyl; X = OTf-, BF4-, PF6-, BPh4-) and [(η6-C6H6)Ru(ArN:CMeCHCMe:NAr)][BArF4] [5 ...

New ruthenium(II) arene derivatives (arene = p-cymene, benzene, hexamethylbenzene) containing beta-ketoamine ligands L' (HL' in general; in detail, HLph,ph = (4Z)-3-methyl-4-((phenylamino)(phenyl)methylene)-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-5(4H)-one, HLnaph,ph = (4Z)-3 ...

Hyperthermia is currently being explored as an adjuvant treatment to conventional therapies with chemotherapeutic agents based on thermoresponsive macromolecules. Although the concept of hyperthermia has existed for many years it has yet to become routinel ...

Passivation of perovskite films by ionic liquids (ILs)improves the performance (efficiency and stability) of perovskitesolar cells (PSCs). However, the role of ILs in the passivation ofperovskitefilms is not fully understood. Here, we report thereactions o ...

We report the use of carboxyl‐functionalised alkylimidazolium salts as thermomorphic acid catalysts for the hydrolysis of cellulose and starch in water, free from organic solvents and auxiliary substances. The imidazolium salts are insoluble in water at ro ...

The incorporation of electron transport layers based on single-crystalline TiO2 rhombohedral nanoparticles enables the realization of stable and efficient large-area perovskite solar cell modules. ...

A combined d. functional theory/continuum electrostatics approach was used to est. the pKa values of metal-based compds. and their hydrolysis products. Specifically, the protonation states and abs. pKa values of [M(h6-arene)(X)(Y)(pta)]n+ (M = Ru or Os; ar ...

The present invention relates to a method of producing hydrogen gas and carbon dioxide in a catalytic reaction from formic acid, said reaction being conducted in an aqueous solution over a wide temperature range and already at room temperature (25 DEG C). ...

Gold(I) complexes bearing water-sol. phosphine ligands, including 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane (PTA), 3,7-diacetyl-1,3,7-triaza-5-phosphabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane (DAPTA), and sodium triphenylphosphine trisulfonate (TPPTS), in combination with thionate liga ...

The strongly chelating anionic beta-diketiminate ligand has been employed to formulate complexes involving almost every metal of the periodic table; however, the heavier metals of the d block remain relatively unexplored. This paper describes the synthesis ...

Dicationic ruthenium(II)-p-cymene complexes containing curcumin ligands (curcH = curcumin, bdcurcH = bisdemethoxycurcumin) and ionic N-methyl-1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane [PTA-Me]X (X = BF4 or I) have been synthesized and fully characterized for the fi ...

Fluorescent nanoparticles (FNPs) are obtained in water by self-assembly from a polymeric ionic liquid, fluorescent carboxylate moiety, and a surfactant through two main supramolecular interactions, that is, ionic bonds and hydrophobic/hydrophilic interacti ...

The utilization of CO2 as a C1 synthon is becoming increasingly important as a feedstock derived from carbon capture and storage technologies. Herein, we describe some of our recent research on carbon dioxide valorization, notably, using organocatalysts to ...

In ionic liqs. (ILs), the activation of a ruthenium(II) catalyst precursor occurs via an unexpected mechanism, which is different from the activation mechanism that takes place in water. The effectiveness of a biphasic catalytic hydrogenation reaction usin ...

A series of ruthenium(II)-arene (RAPTA) compds. were evaluated for their ability to inhibit thioredoxin reductase (either cytosolic or mitochondrial) and cathepsin B, two possible targets for anticancer metallodrugs. In general, inhibition of the thioredox ...

Direct understanding of the formation and crystallization of low-dimensional (LD) perovskites with varying dimensionalities employing the same bulky cations can offer insights into LD perovskites and their heterostructures with 3D perovskites. In this stud ...

The synergistic combination of the anticancer drug carboplatin and the iron chelator deferoxamine (DFO) served as a foundation for the development of novel multifunctional prodrugs. Hence, five platinum(iv) complexes, featuring the equatorial coordination ...
