We study theoretically and demonstrate experimentally a 16 -band narrow band wavelength selective filter in the near -infrared range. The combination of a pair of distributed Bragg reflectors with a sub -wavelength grating metasurface embedded in the intra ...

Single-photon detection and photon counting are useful tools in many fields, from light detection and ranging (LiDAR) to biomedical imaging and from time-resolved Raman spectroscopy to quantum applications. In this context, recently, single-photon avalanch ...

Recent advances in photographic sensing technologies have made it possible to achieve light detection in terms of a single photon. Photon counting sensors are being increasingly used in many diverse applications. We address the problem of jointly recoverin ...

We incorporate newly developed solid-state detector technology into time-resolved laser Raman spectroscopy, demonstrating the ability to distinguish spectra from Raman and fluorescence processes. As a proof of concept, we show fluorescence rejection on hig ...

We report on a comparative study of two time-resolved cameras based on digital Single Photon Avalanche Diodes (SPADs) for Fluorescen ce Lifetime Imaging applications. In contrast to standard imagers such as cameras, SPAD imagers provide intensity as well a ...

SPAD arrays have shown potential for improving SNR for diffuse correlation spectroscopy in low photon regimes. Here, we will explore different methods of integrating parallelized DCS signals in such regimes for deep blood flow extraction. ...

In preterm infants, there is a risk of long-term cognitive, motor and behavioral impairments due to hemorrhagic and/or ischemic lesions. If detected early, lesions can be prevented. A bedside imaging modality, capable of early detection of both disorders, ...

Quantum computing holds the promise to solve many of today's intractable problems. A solid-state quantum computer (QC) is generally made of an array of qubits implemented in one of many solid-state technologies and operating at deep-cryogenic temperatures ...

SwissSPAD3 is the latest of a family of widefield time-gated SPAD imagers developed for fluorescence lifetime imaging (FLI) applications. Its distinctive features are (i) the ability to define shorter gates than its predecessors (width W < 1 ns), (ii) supp ...

SPAD arrays are becoming a popular choice for measuring two-photon interference effects thanks to their high timing precision, fast readout, and high quantum efficiency. However, such sensors are affected by cross-talk that may mimic the useful signal. Eve ...

We present a hybrid CMOS-based microfluidic system that combines magnetic actuation of microparticles with in situ optical detection using single photon avalanche diodes (SPADs). The decoupling of the principles used for actuation and sensing permits a hig ...

The acquisition of the time of flight (ToF) of photons has found numerous applications in the biomedical field. Over the last decades, a few strategies have been proposed to deconvolve the temporal instrument response function (IRF) that distorts the exper ...

sCMOS imagers are currently utilized (replacing EMCCD imagers) to increase the acquisition speed in super resolution localization microscopy. Single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) imagers feature frame rates per bit depth comparable to or higher than sCMOS ...

The present invention relates to a method for a low cost Planet vector Sensor based on imaging atmospheric oxygen emission at 762 nm or at 557.7 wavelengths using either CMOS, CCD or arrays of single photon avalanche diodes (SPADs). In both daytime and nig ...

Single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) arrays are essential tools in biophotonics, optical ranging and sensing, and quantum optics. However, their small number of pixels, low quantum efficiency, and small fill factor have so far hindered their use for practi ...

Single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) imagers typically have a relatively low fil factor, i.e. a low proportion of the pixel's surface is light sensitive, due to in-pixel circuitry. We present a microlens array fabricated on a 128x128 single-photon avalanch ...

The neonatal brain is a vulnerable organ, and lesions due to hemorrhage and/or ischemia occur frequently in preterm neonates. Even though neuroprotective therapies exist, there is no tool available to detect the ischemic lesions. To address this problem, w ...

This paper presents a family of voltage references in standard 40-nm CMOS that exploits the temperature dependence of dynamic-threshold MOS, NMOS and PMOS transistors in weak inversion to enable operation over the ultra-wide temperature range from 4.2 K to ...

We present a hybrid CMOS based microsystem where magnetic actuation of microparticles is combined with integrated optical detection via Single Photon Avalanche Diodes (SPADs). The system’s configuration permits the manipulation and detection of single magn ...

Cryogenic operation of cutting-edge applications creates opportunities for conducting further optimization beyond conventional technology scaling. Optimal design in cryogenic environments requires extensive characterization efforts, made possible by implem ...
