In this work, we present a study on a thermalresponsive biodegradable membrane composed of silk fibroin and iron oxide nanoparticles as potential candidate material for implantable smart drug delivery microsystems. Ethanol annealing increased the content o ...

53BP1, the vertebrate ortholog of the budding yeast Rad9 and fission yeast Crb2/Rhp9 checkpoint proteins, is recruited rapidly to sites of DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs). A tandem tudor domain in human 53BP1 that recognizes methylated residues in the hist ...

Applications for high resolution 3D profiles, so-called grayscale lithography, exist in diverse fields such as optics, nanofluidics and tribology. All of them require the fabrication of patterns with reliable absolute patterning depth independent of the su ...

Uniformly dispersed deposition of various nanoparticles (gold and silver of 20?50 nm) and nanowires (ZnO and VOx) on different surfaces (Si, GaAs, mica, and steel) was obtained by boiling colloid drops on preheated substrates. Our results suggest a deposit ...

The scaling behavior of Ti-Ni-Cu shape memory thin-film micro-and nanowires of different geometry is investigated with respect to its influence on the martensitic transformation properties. Two processes for the high throughput fabrication of Ti-Ni-Cu micr ...

Optical nanoantennas can efficiently confine light into nanoscopic hotspots, enabling single-molecule detection sensitivity at biological relevant conditions. This innovative approach to breach the diffraction limit offers a versatile platform to investiga ...

This paper describes a novel method to fabricate polymer MEMS based on the inkjet printing of SU-8, with a special emphasis on integrated micro-optical lens arrays. Inkjet control parameters are optimized in order to enable a stable and reproducible ejecti ...

Stencil lithography is used for patterning and connecting nanostructures with metallic microelectrodes in ultrahigh vacuum. Microelectrodes are fabricated by static stencil deposition through a thin silicon nitride membrane. Arbitrary nanoscale patterns ar ...

This paper reports and compares the implementation of magnetic variable optical attenuators (M-VOA) by two fabrication strategies. In the first case, a two-layer structure containing a non-doped polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) layer on a magnetic PDMS (M-PDMS) ...

Two levels of aligned stencil lithography were used to fabricate pentacene thin film transistors on 12 mu m thick flexible polyimide substrates. Flexible transistors with 20 x 40 mu m(2) channels were electrically measured under strain up to 2.6%. After on ...

We demonstrate a novel concept for nanostencil lithography with an integrated microhotplate on the stencil membrane aimed at eliminating or reducing aperture clogging during metal deposition. The stencil can be locally heated up by the embedded Pt coils to ...

We present the fabrication of thin membranes with dense arrays of nanometer and submicrometer pore arrays by the integration of standard micromachining with three pore patterning techniques: electron beam lithography (EBL), nanosphere lithography (NSL) and ...

With the use of the stencil lithography, we fabricated pentacene thin-film transistors pre- pared directly on thermally oxidized silicon gates with channel lengths ranging from 2 to 600 lm. By performing 4-probe measurements or by using the transfer line me ...

Melt electrowriting (MEW) is a distinct class of additive manufacturing technologies that generates fibrous and porous macrostructures with microscale resolution from an electrically charged molten polymer. The high -resolution scaffolds produced by MEW ha ...

We present a new method to encapsulate functional liquids into sealed MEMS capsules by fluidic self-assembly. Self-assembly of 200 mu m SU-8 cargos and picoliter liquid co-encapsulation are driven by the interplay of global fluidic drag and short-range cap ...

This paper addresses mask deformation phenomenon that frequently occurs but is highly undesirable in stencil lithography. Previously, a technique for mechanical stabilisation of stencils was proposed [M.A.F. van den Boogaart, et al., Corrugated membranes f ...

A fully CMOS compatible fabrication flow using low temperature a-Si LPCVD and stencil lithography has been developed and proved suitable for SiNW FinFETs having ambipolar conductance. The stencil mask has been demonstrated to be a real option for sub-micro ...

We report the fabrication, functionalization and testing of microdevices for cell culture and cell traction force measurements in three-dimensions (3D). The devices are composed of bent cantilevers patterned with cell-adhesive spots not lying on the same p ...

Fluid-mediated self-assembly is one of the most promising routes for assembling and packaging smart microsystems in a scalable and cost-efficient way. In this work the pairwise fluidic self-assembly of 100 μm-sized SU-8 cylinders is studied with respect to ...
