This paper presents a novel in-liquid method to manipulate and micro-assemble MEMS in 3D by means of holographic optical trapping and hydrophobic interaction. Up to eight traps can be simultaneously generated with a trapping stiffness of 5 pN/mu m each. SU ...

Cell membrane receptors and ion channels are essential in many different cellular processes. To analyse the activity of membrane proteins in vesicles and biological cells, we fabricated micro- nanostructured chips, enabling the application of electrophysio ...

One of the major advantages of stencil lithography is the possibility to use stencils many times. However, when stencils contain nanoapertures, the clogging of the membranes limits the useful life time of the stencils. The clogging is due to the accumulati ...

In this paper, the authors present a breakthrough extension of the stencil lithography tool and method. In the standard stencil lithography static mode, material is deposited through apertures in a membrane (stencil) on a substrate which is clamped to the ...

We report on photo-current generation in freestanding monolayered gold nanoparticle membranes excited by using a laser. The absence of a substrate leads to a 50% increase of the photocurrent at plasmon resonance. This current is attributed to a combination ...

The present invention relates to a reflective optical objective (1) comprising: —a first reflecting element (3) including a front surface (3a) and a hack surface (3b), the front surface (3a) including a convex reflecting surface (11); and —a second reflect ...

We present nanostencil lithography as a new and parallel nanopatterning technique for batch fabrication of micro/ nanoelectromechanical systems (MEMS/NEMS) with high throughput and resolution. We use nanostencil lithography for the purpose of integrating n ...

As microfiber-based additive manufacturing (AM) technologies, melt electrowriting (MEW) and solution electrowriting (SEW) have demonstrated efficacy with more biomedically relevant materials. By processing SU-8 resin using MEW and SEW techniques, a materia ...

Patterns of noble-metal structures on top of self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on Au and SiO2 substrates have been prepared following two approaches. The first approach consists of pulsed laser deposition (PLD) of Pt, Pd, Au, or Cu through nano- and microst ...

Planar lithography techniques are not effective for precise fabrication of microdevices with hemispherical shapes. Drop-on-demand (DOD) inkjet printing (IJP) of photo-curable ink is a more appropriate fabrication approach as it takes advantage of the surfa ...

We propose a new process by which patterns produced by nanostencil lithography can be reversed, so that the final pattern on the substrate has the same contrast (filled or empty) as that of the stencil. In this process, the stencil pattern is first formed ...

Inkjet technology is a compelling method for the flexible and cost-effective printing of functional inks. We show that nanocomposite solutions based on polystyrene and differently sized core/shell-type nanocrystals (NCs) formed by a CdSe core coated with a ...

This paper describes the fabrication of sub micrometer silicon oxycarbide (SiCO) ceramic structures. The method consists in replicating silicon micro/nanostructures in polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), followed by a micro/nano molding of liquid polymer derived ...

Images directly visualizing the spatial spin-diffusion process are reported. The measurements were performed using a magnetic resonance force microscope. The field gradient associated with the forcedetection experiment is large enough to affect the spin dy ...

Wafer scale nanostencil lithography is used to define 200 nm scale mechanically resonating silicon cantilevers monolithically integrated into CMOS circuits. We demonstrate the simultaneous patterning of ~2000 nanodevices by post-processing standard CMOS wa ...

Inkjet printing technology is an emerging deposition method for the flexible and cost-effective dispensing of functional materials. In this work, luminescent single- and multi-colour pixel arrays of chloroform nanocomposite inks based on polystyrene (PS) f ...

A hydrogen sensor based on a novel fabrication process that combines the precision of advanced nano-fabrication techniques with a bottom-up process based on electrochemistry is presented. The sensor allows for reliable detection between 0.1% and 100% of H2 ...

Glass-like carbon (GC) is a nongraphitizing material composed entirely of carbon atoms produced from selected organic polymer resins by controlled pyrolysis in an inert atmosphere. The GC properties are a combination of the properties of glass, ceramic, an ...
