The reactions of the cluster complexes [Pt-3(mu -Co)(3)L-3], where L = PPh3 1a, PPh(2)Bz 1b and PCy3 1c, with activated mono-olefins have been studied under preparative and equilibrium conditions. At low temperature the olefins react quantitatively giving the adducts [Pt-3(mu -CO)(3) L-3(olefin)] (olefin = trans-di-cyanoethene, DCE 2a-2c, maleic anhydride, MA 3a -3c). The stereo-chemistry of these unstable clusters has been deduced from low temperature P-31. C-13. Pt-195-NMR and I.R. spectra. At higher temp

Chloro- and hydrido-complexes of ruthenium(II) with potassium (4-diphenylphosphino)benzenesulfonate (pTPPMS) were prepared and their properties were compared with those of the related complexes of (3-diphenylphosphino)benzenesulfonates. An X-ray crystal structure determination revealed that the para-sulfonated ligand has a Tolman cone angle slightly smaller than that of PPh3. It was established by pH-potentiometric measurements and by H-1 and P-31 NMR studies that the distribution of the hydride derivatives

A series of ruthenium(II) N-heterocyclic carbene chelate complexes were prepd. by using bidentate chelating alkene-carbene, thioether-carbene, carboxylate-carbene and bis-carbene ligands. Metalation of 1-R-3-X-imidazolium salts (1-3, R = Me, X = allyl, MeS ...

The reactivity of five di-n-butyltin(IV) complexes, n-Bu2Sn(OR)(2) (1), n-Bu2SnO (3), n-Bu2Sn(OR)O (4), (n-Bu2SnO)(2)(CO2) (6) and (n-Bu2SnO)(6)(n-Bu2SnOR)(2)(CO3) (7) (R = CH3), with CO2, suggested as possible catalyst precursors and key-interme ...

Heteronuclear Au–Pd nanoparticles were prepared and immobilized in the functionalized ionic liquid [C2OHmim][NTf2]. The structural and electronic properties of the nanoparticles were characterized by a range of techniques and the surface of the nanoparticl ...

Since the first facile synthesis of Ru(H2O)(6)(2) was published at the beginning of the eighties, several Ru-II aqueous inorganic and organometallic complexes were described, showing the increasing interest in this kind of compound due to potential applications in catalysis and medicine. To understand what governs the reactivity of the ligands in the first coordination sphere of the Ru-II center. we discuss its solution behavior, starting with the simplest aqueous species Ru(H2O)(6) and moving

The efficient storage of hydrogen is one of three major hurdles towards a potential hydrogen economy. This report begins with conventional storage methods for hydrogen and broadly covers new technology, ranging from physical media involving solid adsorbent ...

Aqueous solutions of cesium formate and bicarbonate repre- sent an effective hydrogen storage–delivery couple that under- goes either release or take up of hydrogen in the presence of {RuCl2(mTPPTS)2}2 (TPPTS = triphenylphosphine trisulfonate) and excess m ...

Hydrogenation of bicarbonates in water: By using a ruthenium-based catalytic system hydrogenation of sodium bicarbonate was achieved in water in comparable high TONs and yields. The hydrogenation of sodium bicarbonate takes place with the catalytic system ...

In water, spin–lattice relaxation times (T1) and calibration curves for chemical shifts have been determined for the 13C and the 1H (C) atoms in HCOOH, HCOONa, CO2, Na2CO3 and NaHCO3 by NMR spectroscopy. These data facilitate kinetic and mechanistic studie ...

2,2′-Bipyridine (bipy) and an imidazolium-functionalized bipy ligand were used in the synthesis of palladium nanoparticles in water and in ionic liquid. The function of such ligands was twofold: first, as stabilizing agents to prevent the agglomeration of ...

The iodocarbonyl monomer [PtI2(CO)2] 7 promotes the iridium catalyzed carbonylation of methanol to acetic acid at low water contents. Studies based on low pressure or high pressure NMR and the use of labeled reactants were cond ...

This work reports the hydrogenation of carbon dioxide/inorganic carbonate salts to formic acid/formate in two phase systems comprising an ionic phase, in which the catalyst is immobilized, and an aqueous phase in which the carbonates and formate are confined, is reported. The reactions were followed in situ by multinuclear NMR. Pressurized H-2 gas was used for the reduction.

The synthesis of [PPN][IrRu3(CO)13] and [PPN][IrOs3(CO)13] from the reaction of [PPN][Ir(CO)4] with M3(CO)12 (M = Ru or Os) is discussed. [PPN][IrRu3(CO)13] is a red-brown microcryst. powder, while [PPN][IrOs3(CO)13] is an orange-red microcryst. powder. Both compds. appear to be stable toward air and moisture, but should be stored under N2. Both compds. are sol. in polar org. solvents such as Et2O, THF, CH2Cl2 or MeOH.

Water-soluble rhodium(I)- and ruthenium(II)tertiary phosphine complexes with meta-mono-sulphonated triphenylphosphine (TPPMS) and 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane (PTA) as ligands catalyze the hydrogenation of aqueous HCO3- to HCO2- under mild conditions. No amine additive is needed for good turnovers. CO2 accelerates the reactions with [RhCl(TPPMS)(3)] catalyst; however, it slightly inhibits the reductions catalyzed by [RuCl2(TPPMS)(2)]. Bicarbonate formed in the reaction of limestone with aqueous CO2 can

Polyvinylpyrrolidone stabilized rhodium nanoparticles are highly sol. in hydroxyl-functionalized ionic liqs., providing an effective and highly stable catalytic system. In hydrogenation reactions, excellent results were obtained, and transmission electron ...

The new water-soluble ruthenium-nitrosyl complexes [RuCl3(NO)(TPPMS)(2)] and [RuCl3(NO)(TPPTS)(2)] were synthetized and characterized by IR, H-1 and P-31 NMR spectroscopies. The NO stretching frequencies, nu(NO) = 1870 cm(-1) (TPPMS) and 1883 cm(-1) (TPPTS) suggest a linear Ru-N-O arrangements. Reactions with OH- yield the corresponding [RuCl3 (NO2)(P)(2)] derivatives, furthermore, [RuH(NO)(P)(3)] is formed with TPPMS or TPPTS, respectively, under 100 bar H-2 pressure. The new complexes are suitable precata

Catalytic hydroformylation of olefins has been carried out in a HP FT-IR cell using RhH(CO)(PPh3)(3) catalytic precursor. A different behaviour was noticed between a terminal (hex-1-ene) and an internal alkene (cyclohexene) and different rate-determining steps of the catalytic cycle have been hypothesised. The hydroformylation of hex-1-ene has also been tested in the presence of Co-2(CO)(S) as catalyst. In this case, only the catalytic precursor is evidenced by HP FT-IR. Finally, the influence of an additio

The hexadentate bispidine-based ligand 2,4-bis(2-pyridyl)-3,7-bis(2-methylenepyridine)-3,7-diazabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane-9-on-1,5-bis(carbonic acid methyl ester), L-6m, with four pyridine and two tertiary amine donors, based on a very rigid diazaadamantane-der ...

Herein we describe formic acid disproportionation into methanol with a homogeneous iridium catalyst. Methanol yields of up to 74% were obtained in D2O at 50 °C. Initial H2 pressures further enhanced methanol formation, resulting in a highly concentrated 9. ...
