The water-soluble ruthenium(II)–mTPPTS complex (mTPPTS= meta-trisulfonated triphenylphosphine) efficiently catalyzes the generation of hydrogen from formic acid in aqueous solution. This catalyst has been immobilized in a hydrophilic silica sup- port to fa ...

Many low oxidation state transition metal (carbonyl) clusters are salts and are highly soluble in ionic liquids. Since many are also effective catalysts/precatalysts for hydrogenation reactions, we have conducted a catalytic study of these compounds in ionic liquids and found that the activity of certain clusters to hydrogenate alkene substrates, when immobilised in ionic liquids, is up to 3.6-fold faster than that observed in organic solvents. Using high-pressure NMR it has been possible to trace the impro

The antitumor activity of the organometallic ruthenium(II)-arene complexes, RuCl2(eta(6)-arene)(PTA), (arene = p-cymene, toluene, benzene, benzo-15-crown-5, 1-ethylbenzene-2,3-dimethylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, ethyl benzoate, hexamethylbenzene; PTA = ...

The homogeneous hydrogenation of carbon dioxide into formate anion has been investigated in aqueous solution, using water soluble ruthenium(II)-phosphine (meta-monosulphonated triphenylphosphine, TPPMS; and 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane, PTA) complexes as catalysts. These reactions take place in amine free medium under mild conditions, bicarbonate anion is more active than carbon dioxide in the reduction. The initial turnover frequency of the reduction increases with increasing H-2 pressure, as it was ob

Dialkoxide diorganotin(IV) complexes are known to readily react with carbon dioxide under pressure and they are considered as suitable catalyst precursor models for the direct synthesis of organic carbonates. To gain a better understanding of CO2 insertion processes with Sn-OR bonds, the reactivity of n-Bu2Sn(OCH(CH3)(2))(2) (2) was investigated using high-pressure NMR (HP-NMR) spectroscopy. In deuterated solvents (isopropanol-d(8) and toluene-d(8)) under 50 bar of CO2 pressure at 80 degrees C, Sn-119{H-1}

The water-sol. ruthenium(II) complexes [Cp'RuX(PTA)2]Y and [CpRuCl(PPh3)(mPTA)]OTf (Cp' = Cp, Cp*, X = Cl and Y = nil; or X = MeCN and Y = PF6; PTA = 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane; mPTA = 1-methyl-1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane) were used as catalyst ...

An ionic liquid encompassing a bulky tertiary amine was synthesized and used as a dual solvent-reactant for the formation of a frustrated Lewis pair with tris(pentafluorophenyl) borane, forming a pseudo-frustrated Lewis pair-ionic liquid system. The ionic ...

The water-soluble complexes [{RuCl2(mTPPMS)(2)}(2)], [RuCl2(PTA)(4)], [RhCl(mTPPMS)(3)], [RhCl(mTPPTS)(3)], and [RhCl(PTA)(3)] (mTPPMS=sodium salt of meta-sulfonatophenyl-diphenylphosphine, mTPPTS=sodium salt oftris(meta-sulfonatophenyl) phosphine, and PTA=1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane) showed high catalytic activity (up to 1252 h(-1)) in the H-D isotope exchange reactions between H-2 and D2O or D-2 and H2O. The reactions took place at 20-70degreesC, 0.1-2 MPa H-2, and were strongly influenced by the pH.

The catalytic hydrocarboxylation of linear alkenes to carboxylic acids using supercritical carbon dioxide as a solvent was studied. High selectivities in acids have been obtained. The best results were achieved when adding a perfluorinated surfactant to th ...

The selective dehydrogenation of aqueous solutions of HCOOH/HCOONa to H2 and CO2 gas mixtures has been investigated using RuCl3·3H2O as a homogeneous catalyst precursor in the presence of di␣erent monoaryl-biaryl or alkyl-biaryl phosphines and aryl diphosphines bearing sulfonated groups. All catalytic systems were used in water without any additives and proved to be active at 90 °C, giving high conversions and good TOF values. As an alternative Ru(II) metal precursor, the known dimer [Ru( 6-C6H6)Cl2]2 was a

Water-soluble ruthenium m-triphenylphosphinetrisulfonate (TPPTS) complexes are excellent catalysts for formic acid dehydrogenation. Interestingly, the choice of metal catalyst precursor has a direct influence on initial activities. The reaction with hexaaq ...

The basic aqueous coordination chemistry of Ru-II has been studied using the catalytically important TPPTS phosphine (TPPTS = trisodium salt of 3,3 ',3 ''-phosphinetriylbenzenesulfonic acid) and small gas molecules (H-2, CO, N-2) as ligands. As a result, n ...
