A three-dimensional tip electrode array technology for in- vitro electrophysiological experiments is presented. Based on simulation results obtained with a finite element model of the neuron-electrode interface, it has been shown that the electrical coupli ...

A surface potential-based model for embedded flash memory cells has been developed with the purpose of providing a comprehensive physical understanding of the device operation suitable for performance optimization in memory circuit design. The device equations account for charge balance effects on the isolated floating gate node and parasitic couplings between the terminals of the memory cell. The compact model supports DC, AC and transient analyses, including program/erase bias scalability, drain disturb a

An innovative readout channel, based on analog amplitude modulation of the signals recorded by each sensing site, is developed for high-density CMOS-based microelectrode arrays. A single amplification stage simultaneously records the neural activity acquir ...

The current trend in constructing high-end computing systems consists of parallelizing large numbers of processors. A similar trend is observed in digital imaging where multiple camera inputs are utilized to obtain multiple images of a scene and thus enhan ...

Closed-loop implantable electronics offer a new trend in therapeutic systems aimed at controlling some neurological diseases such as epilepsy. Seizures are detected and electrical stimulation applied to the brain or groups of nerves. To this aim, the signa ...

The application of orthogonal sampling for parallel neural recording is presented in this paper. Orthogonal sampling enables reducing the number of the I Cs in conventional recording systems into one single unit. Consequently, the ADC bandwidth and dynamic ...

A novel real-time implementation of a multi-resolution image blending algorithm is presented in this paper. A multi-resolution decomposition of the input is used to blend multiple images at different scales. Processing time is shortened by designing a pipe ...

This paper introduces a dual-band inductive link designed to operate at both 6.78 and 13.56 MHz in the industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) bands. The primary aim is to facilitate wireless power and data transmission in multisite biomedical implants. ...

A cell-electrode interface noise model is developed which is dedicated to enable the co-simulation of the cell-electrode electrical characteristics, along with the electronics of novel CMOS-based MEA. The electrode noise is investigated for Pt and Pt black ...

An automatic seizure detection method from high-resolution intracranial-EEG (iEEG) signals is presented to minimize the computational complexity and realize real-time accurate seizure detection for biomedical implants. Complex signal processing on a large ...

A key aspect of constructing highly scalable Deep-learning microelectronic systems is to implement fault tolerance in the learning sequence. Error-injection analyses for memory is performed using a custom hardware model implementing parallelized restricted ...

A three-dimensional tip electrode array technology for in-vitro electrophysiological experiments is presented. Based on simulation results obtained with a finite element model of the neuron-electrode interface, it has been shown that the electrical couplin ...

In this study, we propose a new semi-supervised learning (SSL) method that achieves accuracy comparable to FixMatch with a smaller batch size. Our method generates multiple strong augmentations from a single unlabeled data point and applies Mixup regularization to enhance training stability. We also prioritize effective data augmentation algorithms. We evaluated our method by comparing its accuracy and computation time to FixMatch, finding that generating five strong augmentations from a single unlabeled da

The reliability of systems made of unreliable nanoelectronic devices is discussed in this paper. Massive defect density which may affect future fabrication technologies calls for novel solutions, where spatial redundancy and the voting scheme play a signif ...

Charge balancing is a major safety concern in neural and functional electrical stimulation. This paper presents a novel and safe active charge balancing design methodology in which, after each cathodic and anodic stimulation pulse, the value of the remaini ...
