The present invention provides a solid state heterojunction solar cell comprising a transparent conducting support layer (2,3), on which a nanostructured, surface-increasing scaffold structure is provided, wherein an organic-inorganic perovskite layer (4) ...

Visible light active photoelectrodes for hydrogen generation by solar photoelectrochemical water splitting have been under scrutiny for many decades. In particular, the role of electron holes and charge transfer remains controversial. We have investigated ...

There exists a considerable density of interaggregate grain boundaries (GBs) and intra-aggregate GBs in polycrystalline perovskites. Mitigation of intra- aggregate GBs is equally notable to that of interaggregate GBs as intra-aggregate GBs can also cause d ...

Compositional engineering of a mixed cation/mixed halide perovskite in the form of (FAP-bI(3))(0.85)(MAPbBr(3))(0.15) is one of the most effective strategies to obtain record-efficiency perovskite solar cells. However, the perovskite self-organization upon ...

A PbS:Hg quantum dots-sensitized solar cell (QDSC) combined with a dye-sensitized solar cell (DSC) to harvest panchromatic solar spectrum from the visible light to the near IR is demonstrated. We use the filter to split the solar energy and access the tota ...

Hybrid organic-inorganic lead halide perovskite APbX(3) pigments, such as methylammonium lead iodide, have recently emerged as excellent light harvesters in solid-state mesoscopic solar cells. An important target for the further improvement of the performa ...

Impressive hybrid photovoltaic device performances have been realised with the methylammonium lead triiodide (MAPbI(3)) perovskite absorber in a wide range of device architectures. However, the question as to which of these systems represents the most comm ...

The present work demonstrates the usefulness of the soft-template directed approach in preparing mesoporous titanium dioxide and applying it in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Mesoporous titanium dioxide with nanograins of dimension in the range, 16-20 ...

Four D-pi-A dyes (D=donor, A=accpetor) based on a 3,4-thienothiophene pi-bridge were synthesized for use in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). The proaromatic building block 3,4-thienothiophene is incorporated to stabilize dye excited-state oxidation poten ...

Block-copolymer templated chemical solution deposition is used to prepare mesoporous Nd-doped TiO2 electrodes for perovskite-based solar cells. X-ray diffraction and photothermal deflection spectroscopy show substitutional incorporation into the TiO2 cryst ...

Perovskite solar cells have led the new surge of solar energy research. However, their instability is a pressing issue mostly attributed to the perovskite interface with charge-selective transport layers. In this work, diethylammonium iodide (DEAI) surface ...

Hot-carrier solar cells can overcome the Schottky-Queisser limit by harvesting excess energy from hot carriers. Inorganic semiconductor nanocrystals are considered prime candidates. However, hot-carrier harvesting is compromised by competitive relaxation p ...

We report here a new cationic bis-cyclometallated iridium(III) complex, 1, with deep-blue emission at 440 nm and its use in Light-emitting Electrochemical Cells (LECs). The design is based on the 2',6'-difluoro-2,3'-bipyridine skeleton as the cyclometallat ...

See-through dye-sensitized solar cells with 1D photonic crystal Bragg reflector photoanodes show an increase in peak external quantum efficiency of 47% while still maintaining high fill factors, resulting in an almost 40% increase in power conversion effic ...

Two new electron-rich molecules, 2,3,4,5-tetra[4,4'-bis(methoxyphenyl)aminophen-4 ''-yl]-thiophene (H111) and 4,4',5,5'-tetra[4,4'-bis(methoxyphenyl) aminophen-4 ''-yl]-2,2'-bithiophene (H112), which contain thiophene cores with arylamine side groups, are ...

The rich and diverse aspect of nanomaterials for energy conversion and storage has been the research topic for many researchers. Photovoltaic solar cells for the direct conversion of sunlight to electricity can be grouped under three generations. One appro ...

Forward biasing of transparent nanocryst. TiO2 (anatase) films in Li ion contg. org. electrolytes leads to rapid and reversible coloration due to electron accumulation and Li+ intercalation in the anatase lattice. Absorption of > 90% light throughout the visible and near IR can be switched on and off within a few seconds. The nanocryst. morphol. of the film plays a primordial role in enhancing the electrochromic process. Preliminary results from the redn. of a surface attached viologen mol. leading to a blu

A dye sensitized solar cell, comprising a heteroleptic polypyridil complex of Ru, Os or Fe. The donating ligand has an extended conjugated À-system increasing the light absorbance and keeing the LUMO energy level higher than that of the anchoring ligand. A ...
