Son but est uniquement de collecter et de recommander des références pertinentes à des contenus que vous pouvez explorer pour vous aider à répondre à vos questions.

This paper discusses the 3A recommender system that targets CSCL (computer-supported collaborative learning) and CSCW (computer-supported collaborative work) environments. The proposed system models user interactions in a heterogeneous graph. Then, it appl ...

In this paper, we propose a personalized and contextual ranking algorithm implemented on top of the 3A interaction model. The latter is a generic model intended for designing and describing social and collaborative learning platforms integrating Actors, As ...

Spending an uncontrolled quantity and quality of time on digital news and social media platforms can negatively influence mental health and decrease cognitive abilities. In this paper, we propose a sequential news recommendation system employing deep reinf ...

Chatbots have long been advocated for computer-assisted language learning systems to support learners with conversational practice. A particular challenge in such systems is explaining mistakes stemming from ambiguous grammatical constructs. Misplaced modi ...

Today a wide range of technologies exist that support learning and teaching, ranging from learning management systems (LMS) to general social media platforms, such as Facebook and blogs. However, teaching with such tools and platforms can create various ob ...

Social buttons are now widespread in social media apps. They are used to assign weight to user content and trigger user engagement. They come in different shapes (e.g., thumb in Facebook, arrows in Reddit or StackOverflow, plus one in Google+) but very lit ...

Solar combisystems are solar heating installations providing space heating as well as domestic hot water for the inhabitants of the building. The energy sources are solar energy as well as an auxiliary source, gas or oil typically. This paper describes the advanced control strategy that enables the energetic optimization of the building and the combisystem as a whole. This strategy also aims at maximizing the degree of comfort in terms of temperature variation. It has been implemented on a solar combisystem

The broad availability of mobile computing devices has prompted the apparition of social media applications that support teaching and learning. However, so far, there is conflicting evidence as to whether the benefits such applications provide in terms of ...

In human-computer interaction, self-disclosure of sensitive information regarding distressing experiences requires the establishment of a trust channel between the user and the digital tool. As privacy and security have been identified as factors that cont ...

Despite the importance of learning analytics in digital education, there is limited support for researchers in education to generate, access, and share experimental data while complying with ethical and privacy legislation. We propose a set of related tool ...

This paper presents the Smart Device specification to interface with remote labs. To encourage the broader sharing of remote labs, the Smart Device paradigm decouples the client from the server and provides well-defined interfaces between client and server ...

Social practices are well-known mediators in the adoption of educational innovations during professional learning, as postulated by the Knowledge Appropriation Model (KAM). However, understanding how teachers adopt new pedagogical approaches at scale is of ...

Nano-positioning devices constitute the mechatronic heart of the VLTI (Very Large Telescope Interferometer) for the ESO (European Southern Observatory) astrometry instrumentation. In the context of the development of a new optical Differential Delay Line ( ...

In the framework of the European Integrated Project PALETTE, the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and the University of Patras are developing mediation services. These services aim at sustaining collaboration, supporting tacit and explicit k ...

Computational thinking (CT) skills are becoming increasingly relevant for future professionals across all domains, beyond computer science (CS). As such, an increasing number of bachelor and masters programs outside of the computer science discipline integ ...

The data throughput of massive spectroscopic surveys in the course of each observation is directly coordinated with the number of optical fibers which reach their target. In this paper, we evaluate the safety and the performance of the astrobots coordinati ...

eLogbook is a Web-based collaborative environment designed for communities of practice. It enables users to manage joint activities, share related assets and get contextual awareness. In addition to the original Web- based access, an email-based eLogbook i ...

The Board of the Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology has launched in 2000 a new programme to promote the use of New Learning Technologies (NLT) at the Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology. The goal of this programme is to encourage a reform of traditional teaching through the innovative application of Information and Communication Technologies. In this framework, the Mechanical Engineering Department at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) has started the eMersion project, a mul

This paper discusses an ongoing initiative aimed at promoting and implementing digital STEM education at secondary schools in Africa. This initiative, coined Go-Lab Goes Africa (GO-GA), is an innovation action supported by the European Commission through i ...

Social media applications have been proposed as a tool to complement students’ formal learning experiences, often to increase interactivity and participation. However, evidence regarding the benefits and challenges of such applications is still conflicting ...
