A dialogue is successful when there is alignment between the speakers at different linguistic levels. In this work, we consider the dialogue occurring between interlocutors engaged in a collaborative learning task, where they are not only evaluated on how ...

Teachers’ self-efficacy in managing classrooms is an important consideration when it comes to bringing educational robots to classrooms. Orchestration tools support teachers by providing awareness indicators of students’ progress as well as levers to contr ...

Handwriting is an important skill in children development as well as in education that take years to be mastered. While keyboards and similar technological devices increasingly become more popular, new tools and engaging approaches are also required to kee ...

With the introduction of Computer Science (CS) into curricula worldwide, researchers have investigated whether CS could be introduced transversally, as a support other disciplines. Few however consider both student learning and the teachers’ perspective in ...

Introduction: With the increasing amount of research around Computational Thinking (CT) and endeavors introducing CT into curricula worldwide, assessing CT at all levels of formal education is of utmost importance to ensure that CT-related learning objecti ...

Many countries struggle to effectively introduce Digital Education (DE) to all K-12 students as they lack adequately trained teachers. While cascade models of in-service teacher-professional development (PD) can rapidly deploy PD-programs through multiple ...

Educational Robotics (ER) has the potential to provide significant benefits to edu-cation, provided an increase in outreach by transitioning from the extra-curricular initiatives in which ER has thrived to formal education. As Computer Science (CS) Educati ...

The introduction of computing education into curricula worldwide requires multi-year assessments to evaluate the long-term impact on learning. However, no single Computational Thinking (CT) assessment spans primary school, and no group of CT assessments pr ...

Educational Robots are gaining popularity in classrooms but can increase the load on teachers compared to the use of more traditional technologies. Providing support to teachers can make teachers confident in including robots in their teaching routines. In ...

This dataset contains quantitative student data acquired during the administration of a new computational thinking assessment for upper primary school (grades 3 and 4). Over 1500 students (approximately half in grade 3 and half in grade 4) participated in ...

This dataset contains the quantitative teacher data used to analyse an in service teacher training program for Computer Science that took place from September 2019 to March 2020 in the Canton Vaud in Switzerland. Approximately 180 teachers from the the 5th ...

Recently, introducing computer science and educational robots in compulsory education has received increasing attention. However, the use of screens in classrooms is often met with resistance, especially in primary school. To address this issue, this study ...

This dataset contains the quantitative teacher data used to analyse an in service teacher training program that took place from September 2018 to March 2020 in the Canton Vaud in Switzerland. Approximately 350 teachers from the first four grades of primary ...

Robot-mediated learning activities are often designed as collaborative exercises where children work together to achieve the activity objectives. Although miscommunications and misunderstandings occur frequently, humans, unlike robots, are very good at ove ...

Swarming behaviors are ubiquitous in nature, and an important topic to teach and learn. In the learning sciences domain of complex systems understanding, studies have shown that novices tend to assume that centralized control and leadership should exist wh ...

Children’s retention of a proper body posture while interacting with educational tablet applications is important for both their physical health and task performance. In this work, we propose a new approach to unobtrusively induce postural changes in child ...

Integrating computer science (CS) into school curricula has become a worldwide preoccupation. Therefore, we present a CS and Robotics integration model and its validation through a large-scale pilot study in the administrative region of the Canton Vaud in ...
