The fast widening of biosensing applications, such as healthcare, drug delivery, food, and military industries, is increasing the need for generality and compatibility among different sensors. To address this challenge, we present here an innovative approa ...

Electrochemical biosensors are promoting point-of-care and wearable instrumentation due to their high versatility in measuring human metabolites. There is a considerable number of biological compounds that can be detected and measured through voltammetry b ...

In this work, we show the realization of a fully-implantable device for monitoring free-moving small animals. The device integrates a microfabricated sensing platform, a coil for power and data transmission and two custom designed integrated circuits. The ...

Lithium is the main drug for the treatment of mood disorders. Due to its narrow therapeutic window, Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) is a norm during therapy in order to avoid adverse effects. Consequently, patients are obliged to frequent check-ups in ho ...

Sweat biomarker analysis has attracted much interest in applications ranging from sports to wearable healthcare. Among all the sweat biomolecules, abnormal urea levels have been linked to several complications, particularly renal dysfunction. Here, we repo ...

In this work, we developed simple polymer-based memristive devices specifically designed for biosensing applications. The devices consist of two gold electrodes connected by a biocompatible polymeric resistive layer made of poly(3,4 ethyldioxythiophene)pol ...

Therapeutic drug monitoring is essential for optimizing the efficacy and safety of targeted anticancer agents like imatinib, a first-line treatment for various leukemias and gastrointestinal stromal tumors. This study introduces a novel memristive biosenso ...

An investigation on nano-structured electrodes to detect different metabolites is proposed in this paper. Three different metabolites are considered: glucose, lactate, and cholesterol. The direct detection of hydrogen peroxide is also considered since it d ...

Lactate is an important metabolite in human body and, among possible medical applications, it can be used to monitor physical activity. Actually, its concentration represents a clear indication whether optimal training intensity is kept or if muscles are u ...

Quantification of multiple drugs is of great importance and urgently needed in therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) and personalized therapy. Especially, based on cyclic voltammograms (CVs) obtained by electrochemical sensors, the use of artificial neural net ...

This paper proposes a new detection methodology based on memristive-effect registered on silicon nanowire. The nano-wires are fabricated by a lithographic technique that allows precise and selective etching at the nanoscale. The wires are obtained in three ...

We present here the first ever-reported direct computation of the cancer risk on cancer markers simultaneously detected by memristors. The novel approach in cancer diagnostics here proposed is based on the fusion of the three actions of sensing, computing ...

In this paper, a complete study is carried out investigating the relationship between the biosensing and the electrical characteristics of freestanding two-terminal Schottky-barrier silicon nanowires. This paper successfully reproduces computationally the ...

Electrochemical sensors play a pivotal role in advancing therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) and personalized therapy. However, the insufficient selectivity of electrochemical sensors based on cytochromes P450 poses a great need for innovative machine learni ...

In this work we present an investigation on the behavior of microsomes containing human cytochrome P450 in cyclic voltammetry for drug detection. The microsomes are adsorbed on the surface of multi-walled carbon nanotubes by drop-casting. We demonstrate th ...

The application of Raman scattering in biosensing diverges significantly from its previous usage in qualitative analysis, eliminating the necessity for spectroscopy in certain cases. Here, we push the frontiers of optical biosensing by integrating a custom ...

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men except for skin cancer, and the detection at early stages is crucial. In the present work, nanofabricated memristive biosensors are subjected to surface bio-modification targeting at prostate-specific ant ...

In this paper, we are presenting a new architecture to directly compute the ‘Percent-free PSA’ diagnostics index to enhance the differentiation of prostate cancer from benign prostatic disease. The proposed circuit uses silicon nanowires-based memristive b ...

The Hemolytic Disease of the Fetus and Newborn (HDFN), if untreated, can have severe consequences on baby’s health, eventually causing death. Prevention and diagnosis of pregnancies at risk of HDFN consists in quantitative analysis in hospital every 2-4 we ...

This work investigates the effect of the inclusion of Bi3+ ions in ZnFe2O4 nanoparticles on electron transfer at the electrochemical interface. ZnBixFe2-xO4 (x = 0, 0.5, 1, 2) nanomaterials are synthesized and the impact of Bi3+ ions on the chemical featur ...
