Valorization of CO2, an abundant C(1) synthon, into platform chemicals is of growing interest. In this context, a key reaction is the cycloaddition of CO2 to epoxides to form carbonates (CCE). A series of organocatalysts for this reaction, based on imidazo ...

In this article we highlight some of the recent developments in the aqueous-phase hydrogenation of alkenes and arenes. The traditional types of water-soluble catalysts applied in aqueous media are outlined together with recent trends towards the developmen ...

Hydrogels are polymeric materials that have a relatively high capacity for holding water. Recently, a double network (DN) technique was developed to fabricate hydrogels with a toughness comparable to rubber. The mechanical properties of DN hydrogels may be ...

Cost-effective solid-state electrolytes with improved conductivity and device performances have received much research interest in (photo)-electrochemical cells, including solar cells, secondary batteries, and so on. In this work, a series of organic ionic ...

As a leading contender to replace lead halide perovskites, tin-based perovskites have demonstrated ever increasing performance in solar cells and light-emitting diodes (LEDs). They tend to be processed with dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) solvent, which has been ...

A series of dicationic styrene-functionalized imidazolium-based salts, in which the two imidazolium rings are bridged by a functionalized spacer, are prepared. The salts are polymerized to afford cross-linked imidazolium-based ionic polystyrene materials, ...

A novel solid-state electrolyte based on 1,3-dihexylbenzimidazolium ([DHexBIm]) cations combined with Br-, BF4- or SCN- anions is used in CdS/CdSe sensitized quantum dot sensitized solar cells (QDSSCs). A power conversion efficiency of 4.26% was achieved w ...

A new zwitterionic bidentate ligand was synthesized incorporating a 4,4'-bipyridine core with a carboxylate group as a single building block, specifically designed for the rational construction of supramol. structures (metal-org. frameworks) that are capab ...

Chemical bath deposition (CBD) is an effective technique used to produce high-quality SnO2 electron transport layers (ETLs) employed in perovskite solar cells (PSCs). By optimizing the CBD process, high-quality SnO2 films are obtained with minimal oxygen v ...

The two known Me- and allyl-substituted 1H-imidazol-3-ium bromides 1 and 2, respectively, were converted to the corresponding BF4- and BPh4- salts 3-6 (Scheme 1). Compounds 3 and 4 were liquids at ambient temperature. Reaction of 1 or 2 with [PdCl2] afford ...

Two nitrile-functionalized alkyltriflouroborate anion based complexes [(Ph3P)(2)N][CH3CH(BF3)CH2CN] and [K(18-crown-6)][CH3CH(BF3)CH2CN] were synthesized and characterized by spectroscopic methods and single X-ray diffraction analysis. In the former comple ...

The phosphorylation of a series of diaminopyridines (2,3-, 3,4-, 2,5- and 2,6-diaminopyridine), with various molecular equivalents of chlorodiphenylphosphine in the presence of TEA has been studied. Notably, phosphorylation of 2,3- and 3,4-diaminopyridine ...

Porous monolithic microreactors show great promise in catalytic applications, but are usually based on non-renewable materials. Herein, we demonstrate a Ni/Au nanoparticle-decorated carbonized wood (Ni/Au-CW) monolithic membrane microreactor for the effici ...

Platinum nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized in situ in the ionic liquid (IL) [Emim]NTf2 (1-ethyl-3- methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide) as well as in mixtures of [Emim]NTf2 with a second IL, Lewis acid or Brønsted acid, but in the absenc ...

A series of thioether-functionalised imidazolium salts have been prepared and characterized. Subsequent reaction of the thioether-functionalised imidazolium salts with iodomethane affords imidazolium-sulfonium salts composed of doubly charged cations and t ...

Dopant-free hole transporting materials (HTMs) is significant to the stability of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Here, we developed a novel star-shape arylamine HTM, termed Py-DB, with a pyrene core and carbon-carbon double bonds as the bridge units. Compa ...

Four new bis(phosphino)amine ligands (Ph2P)2N-C6H3-R, where R = 3,5-OMe (1), 2,5-OMe (2), 2,4-OMe (3) or 3,4-OMe (4), were prepd. via aminolysis of the corresponding dimethoxyanilines with 2 equiv. of diphenylphosphine chloride in the presence of tri-Et am ...

Niobic acid (Nb2O5 center dot nH(2)O) was immobilized on regenerated cellulose (Re-Cellulose) to afford a heterogeneous catalyst, termed Nb2O5 center dot nH(2)O@Re-Cellulose, that was characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, microscopy (SEM and TEM) and ...

Nanoparticles can be stabilized by an ionic liq. polymer (ILP) composed of imidazolium units incorporating a hydrophobic benzyl group. The resulting gold, platinum, and palladium nanoparticles can be efficiently transferred from water to ionic liqs. by exc ...

Different weight percentage (2, 3, 4, and 5 wt %) of polyaniline (PANI) were incorporated into electrospun poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVdF-HFP) composite membranes (esCPMs). The regular morphology, molecular structure, crystallinity, ...
