Metastable-state photoacids (mPAHs) are chemical species whose photo-activated state is long-lived enough to allow for proton diffusion. Liao's photoacid (1) represents the archetype of mPAHs, and is being widely used on account of its unique capability to ...

Copper(II) complexes with 1,1,1-trifluoro-4-(4-methoxyphenyl)butan-2,4-dione (HL1) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR spectroscopy, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The biological properties of HL1 and cis-[Cu(L1)(2)(DMSO) ...

Cobalt(II) complexes featuring hexadentate amino-pyridyl ligands have been recently discovered as highly active catalysts for the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction (HER), whose high performance arises from the possibility of assisting proton transfer processes v ...

N-Heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) react at ambient conditions with nitrous oxide to give covalent adducts. In the crystal, all compounds show a bent N2O group connected via the N-atom to the former carbene carbon atom. Most adducts are stable at room temperat ...

RhCl3 is shown to mediate unusual coupling reactions of tert-butyl acetylene. When RhCl3(H2O)n was heated with four equivalents of tert-butyl acetylene in methanol, the dinuclear complex [{Rh(μ-Cl)(CH2tBu)(tBuC=CHCOCH2tBu)}2] (2) was isolated. A larger exc ...

Polycarboxylate ligands are among the most important building blocks for the synthesis of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). The ability to access these ligands in an efficient way is of key importance for future applications of MOFs. Here, we demonstrate th ...

A good catch: N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) form stable adducts with nitrous oxide (N2O) under mild reaction conditions. The adducts display unique reactivity as evidenced by an alkylation reaction which leads to a rupture of the NN bond. ...

Sequential enyne cross-metathesis reactions of arylalkynes with ethylene followed by atom transfer radical addition (ATRA) with ethyl dichloroacetate or dichloroacetonitrile provide 1,5-dichloropent-2-ene derivatives. The second-generation Grubbs alkyliden ...

The aggregation-induced emission properties of tetraarylethenes (TAEs) have led to numerous applications in chemistry, biology, and materials science. Herein, we describe two fluorinated tetraarylethenes, which can be employed as universal tags for the syn ...

The chemical activation of nitrous oxide (N2O) can be achieved by organocalcium, organosodium, and organolithium compounds. Grignard reagents, on the other hand, are believed to be inert. We demonstrate that this generalization is not correct. Some aliphat ...

The combination of tripyridyl ligands and linear diboronate esters results in the formation of oligomeric or polymeric adducts featuring dative boron−nitrogen bonds. The relative orientation of the two different building blocks in the assemblies can be pre ...

Dinuclear clathrochelate complexes with two, three, four, or five cyano groups in the ligand periphery were prepared following two distinct synthetic strategies: (a) zinc(II)- or cobalt(II)-templated polycondensation reactions of CN-functionalized arylboro ...

A ditopic carbanionic N-heterocyclic carbene was found to react with the inert gas nitrous oxide, resulting in a stable covalent adduct with two intact N2O groups attached to the heterocycle. Mesoionic N-heterocyclic carbenes derived from C2-arylated 1,3-b ...

Cyclopentadienyl-ruthenium half-sandwich complexes with 2-bound alkyne ligands have been suggested as catalytic intermediates in the early stages of Ru-catalyzed reactions with alkynes. We show that electronically unsaturated complexes of the formula [RuCl ...

Reactions of the dinuclear ruthenium complex [(p-cymene)Ru(mu-Cl)3RuCl(C2H4)(PCy3)] with phenylacetylene or tert-butylacetylene gave the vinylidene complexes [(p-cymene)Ru(mu-Cl)3RuCl(=C=CHR)(PCy3)] (R = tBu, Ph), which were characterized crystallographica ...

The reaction of (cymene)RuCl2 (1) with PCY3 was investigated using different stoichiometries and reaction conditions. Whereas a mixture of complex 1 and 2 equiv of PCy3 in methanol gave the known adduct [(cymene)Rucl(2)(PCy3)] (3) along with the phosp ...

A bimetallic complex, in which a RuCl2 (eta(2)C(2)H(4))(PCy3) fragment is connected via three chloro, bridges to a (eta(6)-p-cymene)RuCl2 fragment, has been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. This complex was used to cat ...

Four novel polypyridine cobalt(II) complexes were developed based on a hexadentate ligand scaffold bearing either electron-withdrawing (-CF3) or electron-donating (-OCH3) groups in different positions of the ligand. Experiments and theoretical calculations ...

Chemically induced bond cleavage of nitrous oxide typically proceeds by rupture of the N–O bond with concomitant O-atom transfer and liberation of dinitrogen. On a few occasions, N–N bond scission has been observed instead. We report a reaction sequence in ...

The dinuclear Ru(II) complexes (arene)Ru(μ-Cl)3RuCl(C2H4)(PCy3) (arene = p-cymene or 1,3,5-C6H3iPr3) react with N2O under mild conditions to give OPCy3 and the trinuclear complexes (arene)Ru(μ-Cl)3Ru(μ-Cl)3Ru(arene). The N-heterocyclic carbene complex (p-c ...
