We used AFM to investigate the interaction of polyelectrolytes such as ssDNA and dsDNA molecules with graphene as a substrate. Graphene is an appropriate substrate due to its planarity, relatively large surfaces that are detectable via an optical microscop ...

Machine learning and signal processing on the edge are poised to influence our everyday lives with devices that will learn and infer from data generated by smart sensors and other devices for the Internet of Things. The next leap toward ubiquitous electron ...

The alloying of two-dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) is an established route to produce robust semiconductors with continuously tunable optoelectronic properties. However, typically reported methods for fabricating alloyed 2D TMD na ...

The interest in MoS 2 for radio-frequency (RF) application has recently increased1'2. However, little is known on the scaling behavior of transistors made from MoS 2 for RF applications, which is important for establishing performance limits for electronic ...

Field-effect transistors (FETs) based on two-dimensional materials (2DMs) with atomically thin channels have emerged as a promising platform for beyond-silicon electronics. However, low carrier mobility in 2DM transistors driven by phonon scattering remain ...

This paper presents a novel nanoscale platform based on vanadium dioxide (VO2) two-terminal devices shaped like nanowires (NWs). For the first time we report CMOS compatible VO2 two-terminal devices with little-to-no stochasticity in the absence of electro ...

Time-reversal symmetry and broken spin degeneracy enable the exploration of spin and valley quantum degrees of freedom in monolayer transition-metal dichalcogenides. While the strength of the large spin splitting in the valance band of these materials is n ...

Memory devices have returned to the spotlight due to increasing interest in using in-memory computing architectures to make data-driven algorithms more energy-efficient. One of the main advantages of this architecture is the efficient performance of vector ...

The Nernst effect, a transverse thermoelectric phenomenon, has attracted significant attention for its potential in energy conversion, thermoelectrics and spintronics. However, achieving high performance and versatility at low temperatures remains elusive. ...

Adapting electronics to perfectly conform to nonplanar and rough surfaces, such as human skin, is a challenging task, which could open up new applications in fields of high economic and scientific interest, ranging from health to robotics, human-machine in ...

We exploit two-dimensional electron spectroscopy to coherently excite the A and B excitons in monolayer MoS2. Combined with simulations, our data distinguish ultrafast bright excitons decoherence and sub-ps scattering decays to dark excitons. (c) 2019 The ...

Semiconductor device comprising a source electrode, a drain electrode and a semiconducting layer consisting of a single or double 2-dimensional layer(s) made from one of the following materials: MoS2, MoSe2, WS2, WSe2, MoTe2 or WTe2. ...

Data-driven algorithms—such as signal processing and artificial neural networks—are required to process and extract meaningful information from the massive amounts of data currently being produced in the world. This processing is, however, limited by the t ...

Intensive research has been carried out on two-dimensional materials, in particular molybdenum disulfide, towards high-performance field effect transistors for integrated circuits 1 . Fabricating transistors with ohmic contacts is a challenging task due to ...
