A key challenge in the production of lignin-derived chemicals is to reduce the energy intensive processes used in their production. Here, we show that well-defined Rh nanoparticles dispersed in sub-micrometer size carbon hollow spheres, are able to hydroge ...

Formation of a vacant coordination site on a Ru center permits an unusual binding of small molecules such as ethylene, acetylene, and dihydrogen, resulting in the transformation of the chelating β-diketiminate ligand to a β-diimine. These represe ...

A series of salts composed of the coordinatively unsatd. areneruthenium β-diketiminato cation and different anions, [(η6-C6H6)Ru(ArN:CMeCHCMe:NAr)][X] (1-4; Ar = 2,6-dimethylphenyl; X = OTf-, BF4-, PF6-, BPh4-) and [(η6-C6H6)Ru(ArN:CMeCHCMe:NAr)][BArF4] [5 ...

The present invention relates to a method of producing hydrogen gas and carbon dioxide in a catalytic reaction from formic acid, said reaction being conducted in an aqueous solution over a wide temperature range and already at room temperature (25 DEG C). ...

The selective catalytic decomposition of formic acid into hydrogen and carbon dioxide has been achieved in water under mild conditions. For the first time, a ruthenium ion in combination with series of oligocationic, ammoniomethyl-substituted triarylphosph ...

A Rh-103, P-31 and C-13 NMR study of [Rh-4(CO)(6)(mu-PPh2)(4)] in CD2Cl2 indicates that the strongly bonded, bridging, anionic ligand PPh2- takes part in the site exchange of the carbonyl ligands and is actually mobile about the metallic surface of this cluster compound.

Reaction of the dimer [(η5-C5Me5)RhCl(μ2-Cl)]2 with 2 or 4 equiv of the water-soluble phosphine 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphatricyclo[3.3.1.1]decane (pta) affords [Rh(η5-C5Me< ...

In situ high-pressure NMR spectroscopy of the hydrogenation of benzene to give cyclohexane, catalysed by the cluster cation (eta(6)-C6H6) (eta(6)-C6Me6)(2)Ru-3(mu(3)-O)(mu(2)-OH)(mu(2)-H)(2) 2, supports a mechanism involving a supramolecular host-guest complex of the substrate molecule in the hydrophobic pocket of the intact cluster molecule.

5-Hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) is a key platform chemical that may be obtained from various cellulosic (biomass) derivatives. Previously, it has been shown that ionic liquids (ILs) facilitate the catalytic conversion of glucose into HMF. Herein, we demonstr ...

By checking the chemistry underlying the concept of "supramolecular cluster catalysis" we identified two major errors in our publications related to this topic, which are essentially due to contamination problems. (1) The conversion of the "closed" cluster cation H3Ru3(C6H6K6Me6)(2)(O) (1) into the "open" cluster cation H2Ru3(C6H6)(C6Me6)(2)(O)(OH) (2), which we had ascribed to a reaction with water in the presence of ethylbenzene is simply an oxidation reaction which occurs in the presence of air

The water-soluble iridium(III) complexes [CpIr(PTA)Cl2] (1) and [CpIr(PTA)2Cl]Cl (2) (PTA = 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane) have been synthesised and characterised by spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. The complexes were evaluated as catalyst prec ...

A series of 'dual-functionalised' ionic liquids, comprising imidazolium cations with various functionalities and the nitrile functionalised anion CH3H(BF3)CH2CN have been prepared; some exhibit very low viscosities-a highly valuable property in many applications.

A review discussing the pressurization of organometallic systems in H2O. It deals with the effect of the high hydrostatic pressure on organometallics and the characterization of reactions involving pressurized gases with aq. organometallics.

High-pressure NMR mechanistic investigations into the promoting role of dicarbonyldiiodoplatinum complex in the iridium-catalysed carbonylation of methanol to acetic acid are consistent with iodide abstraction from the [IrI3(CH3)(CO)2]– resting state speci ...

A versatile palladium-catalyzed double carbonylation of aryl bromides has been developed. Using Pd(OAc)2/BuPAd2 as the catalyst system and DBU as the base, under relatively low CO pressure, various a-ketoamides were produced in good yields. In order to get ...

An efficient method for the synthesis of amides via Pd-catalyzed oxidative carbonylation of C(sp(3))-H bonds with CO and amines is described. The route efficiently provides substituted phenyl amides from alkanes. ...

The soly. of H2S in a series of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium ([bmim]+) based ionic liqs. (ILs) with different anions, chloride, tetrafluoroborate ([BF4]-), hexafluorophosphate ([PF6]-), triflate ([TfO]-), and bis(trifluoromethyl)sulfonylimide ([Tf2N]-), and ...

The viscosities of the ionic liqs. [bmim][PF6] and [bmim][TF2N] (bmim = 1-methyl-3-butylimidazolium, TF2N = bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide) have been detd. under CO2 pressure at 298 K. The viscosity decreases from 381 to 23 cP for [bmim][PF6] without CO ...

The effect of pressure on the Diels-Alder reaction was examined in room temperature ionic liquids, followed by high-pressure FT-IR spectroscopy using pressures up to 150 MPa. Pressure enhances the kinetic sensitivity of the reaction. The kinetic effec ...
