Absolute diffuse reflectance and transmittance FT-IR spectra of optically thin layers of surface-derivatized silica powders are measured, using a photopyroelectric detector placed in direct contact with the sample. The role of inhomogeneities in the surface of the powder for quantitativediffuse reflectance and transmittance measurements is examined. It is found to be equally important and nonnegligible for both sampling methods. Diffuse transmittance is shown to be more sensitive to changes of the depth of

Dye-sensitized solar cells are a promising alternative to traditional inorganic semiconductor- based solar cells. Here we report an open-circuit voltage of over 1,000 mV in mesoscopic dye- sensitized solar cells incorporating a molecularly engineered cobal ...

Low-dimensional hybrid perovskites have emerged as promising materials for optoelectronic applications. Although these materials have already demonstrated enhanced stability as compared to their three-dimensional perovskite analogues, their functionality h ...

Europium and terbium trisdipicolinate complexes are inkjet printed onto paper with commercially available desktop inkjet printers. Together with a commercial blue luminescent ink, the red-emitting luminescent ink containing europium and the green-emitting ...

The defects present in metal halide perovskite are deleterious to both the performance and stability of photovoltaic devices. Consequently, there is an intense focus on developing defect mitigation strategies. Herein we report a facile strategy that employ ...

Two-dimensional Ruddlesden−Popper hybrid lead halide perovskites have become a major topic in perovskite optoelectronics. Here, we aim to unravel the ultrafast dynamics governing the evolution of charge carriers and excitons in these materials. Using a com ...

We reveal some of the key mechanisms during charge generation in polymer:fullerene blends exploiting our well-defined understanding of the microstructures obtained in pBTTT:PCBM systems via processing with fatty acid methyl ester additives. Based on ultraf ...

Metal halide perovskites (MHPs) have shown an incredible increase in efficiency, reaching as high as 25.7%, which now competes with traditional photovoltaic technologies. Herein, we excluded CsX and RbX (X = I–, Br–, Cl–), the most commonly used cations to ...

Four organic donor–π-bridge–acceptor dyes containing phenothiazine as a spacer and cyanoacrylic acid as an acceptor were synthesized and tested as sensitizers in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). The influence of iodide- and cobalt-based redox electrolyte ...

We synthesized the Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes of the 2,7,12,17-tetrapropionic acid of 3,8,13,18-tetramethyl-21H,23H porphyrin (coproporphyrin-I) and successfully employed them as sensitizers in dye-sensitized solar cells. Copper(II) coproporphyrin-I exhib ...

Novel donor-p-acceptor (D--A) dyes, coded as SD-1, SD-2 and SD-5, were designed and synthesized for dye-sensitized solar cells. All these dyes comprised the same donor and acceptor units while the oligo thiophene units were introduced as linkers between th ...

A nanocrystalline TiO2 (anatase) nanosheet ex- posing mainly the (001) crystal faces was tested as photo- anode material in dye-sensitized solar cells. The nanosheets were prepared by hydrothermal growth in HF medium. Good-quality thin films were deposited ...

Organic-inorganic hybrid systems based on lead halide compounds have recently encountered considerable success as light absorbers in solid-state solar cells. Herein we show how fundamental mechanistic processes in mesoporous oxide films impregnated with CH3NH3PbI3 can be investigated by time resolved techniques. In particular, charge separation reactions such as electron injection into the titanium dioxide film and hole injection into the hole transporting material spiro-OMeTAD as well as the corresponding

The development of new light harvesting materials is a key issue for the progress of the research on organic & hybrid photovoltaics. Here, we report a new class of organic sensitizers based on the bi-fluorenylidene moiety as p-linker within the donor–p-lin ...

Photoinduced charge separation into free carriers and subsequent charge transfer are key processes that govern the efficiencies of third generation solar cell technologies based on donor-acceptor heterojunctions. As these processes typically occur on picos ...

In this study, we place a strong emphasis on understanding the ultrafast dynamics of carrier recombination pathways in p-type ZnO, especially in the midgap region. Synthesizing and controlling the properties of p-type ZnO remains a pivotal yet challenging ...

Regeneration of dye sensitizer molecules by reducing species contained in the electrolyte is a key mechanism in liquid dye-sensitized solar cells because it competes kinetically with a detrimental charge recombination process. Kinetics of the reduction by ...

Lead halide perovskites exhibit great potential for light-emitting devices. Enhanced photoluminescence (PL) is obtained in perovskite materials of reduced dimensionalities due to the large exciton binding energy. However, as the nanocrystal size is reduced ...

Cosensitization of broadly absorbing ruthenium metal complex dyes with highly absorptive near-infrared (NIR) organic dyes is a clear pathway to increase near-infrared light harvesting in liquid- based dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). In cosensitized DSCs ...

Light-induced charge formation is essential for the generation of photocurrent in organic solar cells. In order to gain a better understanding of this complex process, we have investigated the femtosecond dynamics of charge separation upon selective excita ...
