A high kinetics rate electrochemical cell in which at least one of the electrodes is composed of a mesostructural electroactive material is comprising a three-dimensional framework structure of mesoporous texture forming a bicontinuous junction of large specific surface area with the electrolyte. The electrode material, which is suited for reversible ion intercalation and for electronic transport, is penetrated by an interconnected porous space filled with electrolyte the latter serving for ionic transport.

Electroreduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) in a flow electrolyzer represents a promising carbon-neutral technology with efficient production of valuable chemicals. In this work, the catalytic performance of polycrystalline copper (Cu), Cu2O-derived copper (O ...

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are one of the most promising lab-scale technologies to deliver inexpensive solar electricity. Low-temperature planar PSCs are particularly suited for large-scale manufacturing. Here, we propose a simple, solution-processed te ...

Given the limitations of the materials available for photoelectrochemical water splitting, a multiphoton (tandem) approach is required to convert solar energy into hydrogen efficiently and durably. Here we investigate a promising system consisting of a hem ...

Spiro-OMeTAD has served as a crucial hole transporting material (HTM) in the advancement of efficient perovskite solar cells (PSCs). However, the diminished thermal stability of lithium-doped Spiro-OMeTAD (Li-Spiro) has been a limiting factor, leading to a ...

Diffuse-reflectance IR Fourier transform (DRIFT) spectroscopy was used to study in situ, the low-temp. (T

Here, we study the influence of guanidinium (GUA) ions on the open-circuit voltage (V-oc) in the (GUA)(x)(MA)(1-x)PbI3 based perovskite solar cells. We demonstrate that incorporation of GUA forms electronic and ionic accumulation regions at the interface o ...

CsPbBr3 has received wide attention due to its superior emission yield and better thermal stability compared to other organic-inorganic lead halide perovskites. In this study, through an interplay of theory and experiments, we investigate the molecular ori ...

Five new donor−π-bridge−acceptor (D−π−A) organic sensitizers with cyano and/or triple bond substituted benzoic acid as acceptor/anchoring groups were synthesized and tested for their performance in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). The systematic incorpor ...

High power conversion efficiencies (PCE), low energypayback time(EPBT), and low manufacturing costs render perovskite solar cells(PSCs) competitive; however, a relatively low operational stabilityimpedes their large-scale deployment. In addition, state-of- ...

Low-temperature CO2 electroreduction (CO2eR) to syngas offers tunable H2:CO ratios and a renewable route to decarbonized syngas production, yet catalyst-level advances rarely translate to scalable, durable systems. This review addresses that disconnect with a systems-engineering perspective. We first establish the component foundations, electrolytes, membranes, and cell architectures of flow cells and zero-gap membrane electrode assembly (MEA) electrolyzers, together with integrated versus decoupled syngas

Two-dimensional (2D) materials catalysts provide an atomic-scale view on a fascinating arena for understanding the mechanism of electrocatalytic carbon dioxide reduction (CO2 ECR). Here, we successfully exfoliated both layered and nonlayered ultra-thin met ...

The synthesis of a series of novel organic photosensitizers based on modified triarylamine motives has been achieved. The new "push-pull" dyes, bearing one to three naphthyl units in place of phenyl rings, have been successfully obtained following original ...

A new series of iridium(III) mixed ligand complexes TBA[Ir(ppy)2(CN)2] (1), TBA[Ir(ppy)2(NCS)2] (2), TBA[Ir(ppy)2(NCO)2] (3), and [Ir(ppy)2(acac) (4) (ppy = 2-phenylpyridine; acac = acetoylacetonate, TBA = tetrabutylammonium cation) have been developed and fully characterized by UV-vis, emission, IR, NMR, and cyclic voltammetric studies. The lowest energy MLCT transitions are tuned from 463 to 494 nm by tuning the energy of the HOM

The conversion of carbon dioxide to value-added products using renewable electricity would potentially help to address current climate concerns. The electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide to propylene, a critical feedstock, requires multiple C-C coupl ...

Acetonitrile solutions of Cu(tmby)22+ exhibit aging-dependent changes of UV–Vis spectra, which were attributed to partial reduction to Cu(tmby)2+. This effect is boosted by the addition of imidazole bases, i.e., N-methyl-benzimidazole (NMB) or 5‑chloro-1-e ...

Ultrathin, solution-processed emerging solar cells with high power-per-weight (PPW) outputs demonstrate unique potential for applications where low weight, high power output, and flexibility are indispensable. The following perspective explores the literat ...

The systematic advances in the power conversion efficiency (PCE) and stability of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have been driven by the developments of perovskite materials, electron transport layer (ETL) materials, and interfacial passivation between the ...

Organo-lead halide perovskites have emerged as promising light harvesting materials for solar cells. The ability to prepare high quality films with a low concentration of defects is essential for obtaining high device performance. Here, we advance the proc ...

Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of redox-active molecules on mesoscopic substrates exhibit two-dimensional conductivity if their surface coverage exceeds the percolation threshold. Here, we show for the first time that such molecular charge transport laye ...
