Cobalt terpyridine complexes could rival the classical triiodide/iodide redox couple as efficient alternative redox couples for dye-sensitized solar cells. Cobalt bis(2,2',6',2 ''-terpyridine) complexes enable systematic tuning of the redox potential by va ...

Conventional dye-sensitized solar cells have excellent charge collection efficiencies, high open-circuit voltages and good fill factors. However, dye-sensitized solar cells do not completely absorb all of the photons from the visible and near-infrared doma ...

High-quality perovskite light harvesters and robust organic hole extraction layers are essential for achieving high-performing perovskite solar cells (PSCs). We introduce a phosphonic acid???functionalized fullerene derivative in mixed-cation perovskites a ...

alpha-Formamidinium lead iodide (alpha-FAPbI(3)) is one of the most promising candidate materials for high-efficiency and thermally stable perovskite solar cells (PSCs) owing to its outstanding optoelectrical properties and high thermal stability. However, ...

We demonstrate low-temperature (70 degrees C) solution processing of TiO2/CH3NH3PbI3 based solar cells, resulting in impressive power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 13.7%. Along with the high efficiency, a strikingly high open circuit potential (V-OC) of 1 ...

Lead halide perovskites have recently been used as light absorbers in hybrid organic–inorganic solid-state solar cells, with efficiencies as high as 15% and open-circuit voltages of 1 V. However, a detailed explanation of the mechanisms of operation within ...

During electrochemical carbon dioxide (CO2) reduction on copper electrodes in an aqueous electrolyte, one of the key challenges is the competition between hydrogen evolution and CO2 reduction, especially under large current density. Here, micro-electrodes ...

High bandgap semitransparent solar cells based on CH3NH3PbBr3 perovskites are attractive for building integration, tandem cells, and electrochemical applications. The lack of control of the CH3NH3PbBr3 perovskite growth limit the exploitation of CH3NH3PbBr ...

A novel thiocyanate-free cyclometalated ruthenium sensitizer for solar cells is designed and developed. Upon anchoring to nanocrystalline TiO2 films, it exhibits a remarkable incident monochromatic photon-to-current conversion efficiency of 83%. The solar ...

In conventional n-i-p perovskite solar cells, unsolved issues persist, particularly concerning notorious performance degradation under prolonged heat exposure at 85°C. By reducing the concentration of 4-tert-butylpyridine (tBP) and lithium bis(trifluoromet ...

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have attracted a substantial interest in the last 30 years for the conversion of solar power to electricity. An important component is the redox mediator effecting the transport of charge between the photoelectrode and th ...

Photoinduced electron transfer from organic dye molecules to semiconductor nanoparticles is the first and most important reaction step for the mechanism in the so called “wet solar cells” [1]. The time scale between the photoexcitation of the dye and the electron injection into the conduction band of the semiconductor colloid varies from a few tens of femtoseconds to nanoseconds, depending on the specific electron transfer parameters of the system, e.g., electronic coupling or free energy values of donor an

Increasing the photocurrent is one of the main objectives of the current research on aqueous photovoltaic cells, the emerging green, alternative technology in solar energy conversion devices. In such a scenario, this work deals with the thorough understand ...

High-performance perovskite solar cells (PSCs) typically require interfacial passivation, yet this is challenging for the buried interface, owing to the dissolution of passivation agents during the deposition of perovskites. Here, we overcome this limitati ...

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate conventional disadvantages, and to improve the stability of the performance of a cell in the course of time as a function of an operating temperature. ;SOLUTION: A cell including a photoanode composed of at least one poly ...

Regeneration and recombination kinetics was investigated for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) using a series of different cobalt polypyridine redox couples, with redox potentials ranging between 0.34 and 1.20 V vs. NHE. Marcus theory was applied to explai ...

It is well established that the lack of understanding the crystallization process in a two-step sequential deposition has a direct impact on efficiency, stability, and reproducibility of perovskite solar cells. Here, we try to understand the solid-solid ph ...

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) based on Cu-II/I bipyridyl or phenanthroline complexes as redox shuttles have achieved very high open-circuit voltages (V-OC, more than 1 V). However, their short-circuit photocurrent density (J(SC)) has remained modest. ...

The influence of interface modification of sensitized TiO2 surfaces by co-adsorbents on photovoltaic performance is detailed. We investigated different functional groups of co-adsorbents, such as carboxylic (4-guanidino butyric acid, chenodeoxycholic acid) ...

A series of cationic iridium(III) complexes with two carbene-based cyclometalating ligands and five different NN bipyridine and 1,10-phenanthroline ancillary ligands is presented. For the first time in the frame of a rarely studied class of bis(heterole ...
