Upregulation of b-catenin, the primary mediator of the Wnt signaling pathway, plays an important role in the tumorigenesis of several types of human cancer. Targeting b-catenin to interfere with its ability to serve as a translational co-activator is consi ...

Sortases are transpeptidase enzymes that anchor surface proteins, including virulence factors, to the cell wall of Gram-positive bacteria, and they are potential targets for the development of anti-infective agents. While several large compound libraries w ...

Four arene osmium complexes were prepared containing derivatives of ethacrynic acid, a potent inhibitor of glutathione Stransferases, either by direct coordination or via N- or P-donor ligands. The complexes were characterized by spectroscopic and analytic ...

Metal organic supramolecular chemistry on surfaces has matured to a point where its underlying growth mechanisms are well understood and structures of defined coordination environments of metal atoms can be synthesized in a controlled and reproducible proc ...

We present the crystal structures of the SEC14-like domain of supernatant protein factor (SPF) in complex with squalene and 2,3-oxidosqualene. The structures were resolved at 1.75 angstrom (complex with squalene) and 1.6 angstrom resolution (complex with 2 ...

The need for interfacing structural biology and biophysics to molecular evolution is being increasingly recognized. One part of the big problem is to understand how physics and chemistry shape the sequence space available to functional proteins, while sati ...

Notch signaling is a highly conserved developmental pathway that plays important roles in the regulation of cellular processes including cell fate decisions and stem cell maintenance. A tight regulation of the Notch cascade ensures proper tissue homeostasi ...

[Fe]-Hydrogenase catalyses the reversible hydrogenation of a methenyltetrahydromethanopterin substrate, which is an intermediate step during the methanogenesis from CO2 and H-2. The active site contains an iron-guanylylpyridinol cofactor, in which Fe2+ is ...

IntroductionAngiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) is a key enzyme of the renin angiotensin system, which breaks down angiotensin II and forms angiotensin-(1-7). In erectile tissues, it has been documented that angiotensin II contributes to the development ...
