Materials Cloud is a platform designed to enable open and seamless sharing of resources for computational science, driven by applications in materials modelling. It hosts (1) archival and dissemination services for raw and curated data, together with their ...

The current pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has affected most of the world in a profound way. As an indirect consequence, the general public has been put into direct contact with the research process, almost ...

In this paper we examine the impacts of the global pandemic in 2020 on different levels of education system, particularly looking at the changes in teaching practice. The health emergency caused closure of schools, and online distance education became a te ...

The phenomenon of online dating via web and mobile phone applications involves several actors: graphical interfaces, developers, algorithmic systems for user matching, and users. These actors have been studied in parallel by the social sciences and by comp ...

The dissipated energy (Ediss) related to the resonant charging/discharging of a transistor output capacitance, becomes a dominant loss factor for power converters operating in the MHz range. A recent work has introduced a small-signal measurement method to ...

By offering courses and resources, learning platforms on the Web have been attracting lots of participants, and the interactions with these systems have generated a vast amount of learning-related data. Their collection, processing and analysis have promot ...

Maximizing the efficiency and power density of dc-dc converters demands parallel optimizations in design and control, especially for variable-frequency converters operating over wide frequency ranges. This work presents the full-scale optimization of a kil ...

In this article, we present a machine learning-based method to locate lightning flashes using calculations of lightning induced voltages on a transmission line. The proposed approach takes advantage of the preinstalled voltage measurement systems on power ...

With the wide availability of mobile devices and the growing interest in social media, numerous applications have emerged to support student engagement in the classroom. There is conflicting evidence, however, on whether the engagement benefits of such app ...

This paper presents a dedicated study of plasma-antenna (PA) coupling with the Alfven Eigenmode Active Diagnostic (AEAD) in JET. Stable AEs and their resonant frequencies f, damping rates gamma < 0, and toroidal mode numbers n are measured for various PA s ...

Soft switching in dual-active-bridge (DAB) converters enables their efficient operation at high frequencies, where the reduction in the size of magnetic components could result in ultra-high power densities. Nonetheless, losing soft-switching at high frequ ...

The technological advances of the past years have impressively demonstrated that the digital age is no longer just a science fiction vision of the future - we are in the midst of it. The digital transformation is affecting many areas of our lives, includin ...

This paper tells the story of a decade-long relationship between a teaching team (TT) and an educational developer (EDP). They have been using an experiential learning approach to monitor improvements to teaching Architecture to first year students. We exp ...
