It is well-established that symptomatic cancers evade immune destruction by coalescing tumor microenvironments to suppress adaptive immunity. Additionally, mouse models of cervical and other cancers have revealed a capability of tumors to systemically indu ...

To improve preclinical studies and their translation, patient-derived xenografts (PDXs) are increasingly used. They have human-specific tumor characteristics and reflect intra and inter-tumor heterogeneity. However, the endocrine milieu differs between hum ...

Young age is associated with increased risk of recurrence in hormone receptor (HR)–positive early-stage breast cancer (eBC). Lack of adherence to endocrine therapy (ET) is a potential reason for the lower survival proportions observed in younger patients, ...

Foundation models have become a powerful tool in single-cell transcriptomics, enabling broad generalization across tasks such as cell type annotation, data integration, and drug response prediction. Yet, most current models are trained predominantly on hea ...

Motivation Many machine learning (ML) models developed to classify phenotype from gene expression data provide interpretations for their decisions, with the aim of understanding biological processes. For many models, including neural networks, interpretati ...

Introduction: Cystic brain metastases (BMs) are often more challenging to treat than solid BMs. Stereotactic cyst aspiration for volume reduction followed by stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) is an alternative treatment modality that may benefit patients wit ...

The efficacy of anti-cancer therapies depends on the genomic composition of the tumor, its microenvironment, spatial organization, and intra-tumor heterogeneity. B-cell lymphomas are a heterogeneous group of tumors emerging from B-cells at different stages ...

In the era of precision medicine, there is increasing evidence that conventional cytotoxic agents may be suitable candidates for therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM)- guided drug dosage adjustments and patient's tailored personalization of non-selective chemo ...

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is the most common type of pancreatic cancer, a leading cause of cancer-related deaths globally. Initial lesions of PDAC develop within the exocrine pancreas’ functional units, with tumor progression driven by intera ...

Cysteine cathepsins proteases are enzymes that play essential physiological roles, but their activity is also associated to different aspects of cancer progression and to the development of other diseases. Therefore, cysteine cathepsins are relevant and pr ...

Tissues are organized in cellular niches, the composition and interactions of which can be investigated using spatial omics technologies. However, systematic analyses of tissue composition are challenged by the scale and diversity of the data. Here we pres ...

Understanding the mechanisms that enable cancer cells to metastasize is essential in preventing cancer progression. Here we examine the metabolic adaptations of metastasis-initiating cells (MICs) in female breast cancer and how those shape their metastatic ...

Background: The nature of the solid component of subsolid nodules (SSNs) can indicate tumor pathological invasiveness. However, preoperative solid component assessment still lacks a reference standard. Methods: In this retrospective study, an AI algorithm w ...

CAR-T cell therapy has shown remarkable success in treating hematopoietic malignancies, but its efficacy in solid tumors is limited by T cell dysfunction, including exhaustion and senescence. In this study, we designed metabolically armored CAR-T cells to ...

Vimentin is a main type 3 intermediate filament protein. It seems that abnormal expression of vimentin is contributed to the appearance of the aggressive feature of cancer cells. So that it has been reported that malignancy and epithelial-mesenchymal trans ...

Cancer is one of the leading causes of death globally. Immunotherapy represents one of the most promising cancer treatments inducing complete and durable responses in a fraction of cancer patients. Despite the unprecedented clinical success achieved by T c ...

In many leukemia patients, a poor prognosis is attributed either to the development of chemotherapy resistance by leukemic stem cells (LSCs) or to the inefficient engraftment of transplanted hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells (HSPCs) into the bone marrow ...

Cylindrical light diffusers (CLDs) are often employed for the treatment of large tumors by interstitial photodynamic therapy (iPDT) and photoimmunotherapy (PIT), which involves careful treatment planning to maximize therapeutic dose coverage while minimizi ...

Estrogen and progesterone receptor (ER, PR) signaling control breast development and impinge on breast carcinogenesis. ER is an established driver of ER + disease but the role of the PR, itself an ER target gene, is debated. We assess the issue in clinical ...

NOTCH1 is a well-established lineage specifier for T cells and among the most frequently mutated genes throughout all subclasses of T cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL). How oncogenic NOTCH1 signaling launches a leukemia-prone chromatin landscape du ...
