In this paper, we present the first results of a systematically designed multi-input multi-output gas-injection controller on Tokamak a Configuration Variable (TCV). We demonstrate the simultaneous real-time control of the NII emission front position and l ...

The frequency response data of a generalized system is used to design fixed-structure controllers for the H2 and H∞ synthesis problem. The minimization of the two and infinity norm of the transfer function between the exogenous inputs and performance outpu ...

Systematic extraction of locally valid dynamic models from experiments is necessary for controller design and the validation of high fidelity models. This paper describes the extraction of a dynamic model in the form of a transfer function, giving the dyna ...

The primary objective of this doctoral thesis is the design and development of hierarchical control schemes for the overall operation and control of Islanded mGs (ImGs) with flexible structuresâ or, with no reference topologies. The control methodologies ...

In the context of learning from demonstration (LfD), trajectory policy representations such as probabilistic movement primitives (ProMPs) allow for rich modeling of demonstrated skills. To reproduce a learned skill with a real robot, a feedback controller ...

Bipedal locomotion is a remarkable feature of humans. This skill is necessary for the activities of daily living. Unfortunately, many people only partially benefit from it or miss it entirely because of a disability. This may result in a slower gait, less ...

In this paper, a data-driven method for controller design with constraints on the positive-realness of closed-loop transfer functions over an arbitrary set of frequencies is proposed. The positive-realness of a closed-loop transfer function is represented ...

Most perimeter control methods in literature are the model-based schemes designing the controller based on the available accurate macroscopic fundamental diagram (MFD) function with well known techniques of modern control methods. However, accurate modelin ...

This paper presents a comprehensive data-driven distributed combined primary/secondary controller design method for microgrids. This method provides transient and steady-state performance including power-sharing and voltage and frequency restoration while ...

This paper presents PolyMPC, an open‐source C++ library for pseudospectral‐based real‐time predictive control of nonlinear systems. It provides a necessary background on the computational aspects of the pseudospectral approximation of optimal control probl ...

Enabling analysis of non-linear systems in linear form, the Koopman operator has been shown to be a powerful tool for system identification and controller design. However, current data-driven methods cannot provide quantification of model uncertainty given ...

A system for interacting with a remote object comprising a wearable jacket for a user, two actuators for supporting arms of the user, motors for causing movements to at least one of a torso and the arms of the user, and sensors for measuring at least one o ...

The objective of this dissertation is to develop data-driven frequency-domain methods for designing robust controllers through the use of convex optimization algorithms. Many of today's industrial processes are becoming more complex, and modeling accurate ...

The scope of this thesis encompasses two main subjects: fixed-structure data-driven control design on one side, and control design in power systems on the other. The overall goal is to identify challenging and relevant problems in power systems, to express ...

The extensive use of frequency-domain tools for analyzing and controlling linear systems have become indispensable for the control systems engineer. However, due to the increased performance demands on today's industrial systems, the effects of certain non ...

This paper presents a systematic methodology for the design and the tuning of the current controller in LCL grid-connected converters for wind turbine applications. The design target is formulated as a minimization of the current loop dominant time constan ...

The successful performance of a model predictive profile controller is demonstrated in simulations and experiments on the TCV tokamak, employing a profile controller test environment. Stable high-performance tokamak operation in hybrid and advanced plasma ...

Versatility is important for a wearable exoskeleton controller to be responsive to both the user and the environment. These characteristics are especially important for subjects with spinal cord injury (SCI), where active recruitment of their own neuromusc ...

This paper describes synthesis of controllers involving Quadratic Programming (QP) optimization problems for control of nonlinear systems. The QP structure allows an implementation of the controller as a piecewise affine function, pre-computed offline, whi ...

A dynamic phasor model for low- and medium-voltage distribution grids is presented. This model accurately represents the transient dynamics of this type of grid, and its low order makes it well suited for control design. A novel fixed-structure, robust con ...
