Vision systems built around conventional image sensors have to read, encode and transmit large quantities of pixel information, a majority of which is redundant. As a result, new computational imaging sensor architectures were developed to preprocess the r ...

In this article, we report on SwissSPAD3 (SS3), a 500 x 500 pixel single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) array, fabricated in 0.18-mu m CMOS technology. In this sensor, we introduce a novel dual-gate architecture with two contiguous temporal windows, or gate ...

Blumino is the first analog silicon photomultiplier with integrated amplifier, comparator and time-to-digital converter (TDC). The combination of a photodetector together with on-chip readout circuitry enables system-level advantages, such as internal para ...

We present a 1 Mpixel single-photon avalanche diode camera featuring 3.8 ns time gating and 24 kips frame rate, fabricated in 180 nm CMOS image sensor technology. We designed two pixels with a pitch of 9.4 mu m in 7 T and 5.75 T configurations respectively ...

Single-photon 3D cameras can record the time-of-arrival of billions of photons per second with picosecond accuracy. One common approach to summarize the photon data stream is to build a per-pixel timestamp histogram, resulting in a 3D histogram tensor that ...

The invention relates to an Imaging sensor device in a stacked arrangement comprising: - a pixel array tier comprising a plurality of pixel segments each having a plurality of pixels for photon detection each providing a digital pixel output; - a processin ...

Advances in high-speed imaging techniques have opened new possibilities for capturing ultrafast phenomena such as light propagation in air or through media. Capturing light in flight in three-dimensional xyt space has been reported based on various types o ...

Fluorescence lifetime imaging (FLI) has been receiving increased attention in recent years as a powerful diagnostic technique in biological and medical research. However, existing FLI systems often suffer from a tradeoff between processing speed, accuracy, ...

The SwissSPAD2/3 camera family is based on quarter megapixel single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) time gated imagers. The 16.38-µm low-noise pixels feature a single-bit memory and built-in all-solid-state nanosecond time gating without the need for externa ...

Diffuse correlation spectroscopy (DCS) is a promising noninvasive technique for monitoring cerebral blood flow and measuring cortex functional activation tasks. Taking multiple parallel measurements has been shown to increase sensitivity, but is not easily ...

Developing large arrays of single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) with on-chip time-correlated single-photon counting (TCSPC) capabilities continues to be a difficult task due to stringent silicon real estate constraints, high data rates and system complex ...

Reinterpretable cameras are defined by their post-processing capabilities that exceed traditional imaging. We present "SoDaCam" that provides reinterpretable cameras at the granularity of photons, from photon-cubes acquired by single-photon devices. Photon ...

We describe the performance of a new wide area time-gated single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) array for phasor-FLIM, exploring the effect of gate length, gate number and signal intensity on the measured lifetime accuracy and precision. We conclude that th ...
