Infrared thermography is a powerful tool to investigate the dynamic evolution of temperature in chemical reactions. The CO2 hydrogenation reaction is an ideal model reaction to assess the presented technique due to its high exothermicity. Various dynamic e ...

Direct light olefin synthesis from CO2 hydrogenation is a new pathway to decarbonize the chemical industry. Inspired by the promising catalytic activity of Ga2O3-based catalysts in alkane dehydrogenation, this study reveals that optimizing Ga content in th ...

Applying additives to perovskite precursor solutions is an effective way to passivate perovskite films for the construction of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) with increased power-conversion efficiencies (PCEs) and enhanced stabilities. Ionic liquids (ILs) w ...

YMgNi4-based alloys exhibit reversible hydrogen absorption and desorption reactions at near room temperature. Here, we report that Co-substituted YMgNi4-based alloys exhibited higher hydrogen contents and lower hydrogen absorption and desorption reaction p ...

We reveal that a significant amount (>30%) of the liquid products from electrochemical CO2 reduction (CO2RR) in a flow reactor can cross the gas diffusion electrode (GDE) and anion exchange membrane (AEM). Crossover of volatile products through the GDE occ ...

In situ investigation of the surface composition of catalyst particles improves the understanding of the active species in heterogeneous catalysis. This study analyzed the surface chemistry of ruthenium nanoparticles supported on alumina during CO2 methana ...

An energy economy based on renewable energy requires massive energy storage, approx. half of the annual energy consumption. Therefore, the production of a synthetic energy carrier, e.g. hydrogen, is necessary. The hydrogen cycle, i.e. production of hydroge ...

Multimetallic nanoparticles are of interest as functional materials due to their highly tunable properties. However, synthesizing congruent mixtures of immiscible components is limited by the need for high-temperature procedures followed by rapid quenching ...

The relation between catalytic reactivities and metal/metal oxide ratios, as well as the functions of the metal and the metal oxides were investigated in the CO2 hydrogenation reaction over highly active Cox(CoO)1–x catalysts in operando. The catalytic rea ...

Catalytic H2 combustion (CHC) is an efficient way to mitigate H2 slip from industrial processes, overcoming the explosion and NOx emission risks. Although Pt-based catalysts are state-of-the-art catalysts, little is known about the CHC catalytic activity o ...

The Cover Feature shows the application of a pyrrolidinium-based ionic liquid with a borohydride anion to simultaneously capture and reduce large amounts of CO2. The ionic liquid cation interacts with CO2, allowing the borohydride to fix and reduce it to t ...

Ammonia borane (AB) has been extensively studied as a solid-state hydrogen storage material. On the other hand, its reactivity with CO2 is still unclear, especially in the solid state. By carefully controlling the CO2 pressure and temperature, AB efficient ...

The development of novel materials capable of securely storing hydrogen at high volumetric and gravimetric densities is a requirement for the wide-scale usage of hydrogen as an energy carrier. In recent years, great efforts via nanoscale tuning and designi ...

The lack of long-term stability and reproducibility of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) is the main roadblock preventing their successful commercialization. 3D/2D PSCs are one of the most prominent ways to address these issues. Various salts that are mostly b ...

Metal nanoparticles with a precisely controlled particle size distribution are ideal model catalysts for fundamental studies in catalysis. In this work, the thermal stability of size-selected Cu nanoparticles (Cu NPs) were deposited by magnetron sputtering ...

Although Al-air batteries are expected to be the candidates for energy conversion systems in renewable energy market due to the higher energy density, richer reserves, and lighter mass of Al metal, the anode self-discharge is seen as a notorious issue that ...

Methanation of CO2 is an important reaction for reducing CO2 emissions in a power-to-gas system. Compared to cobalt supported on gamma-Al2O3, cobalt supported on graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) showed significantly better performance for CO2 methanation. Cob ...

Comprehensive studies of gas-solid reactions require the in-situ interaction of the gas at a pressure beyond the operating pressure of ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The recent progress of near ambient pressure XPS allows to ...

The changes introduced by both ball milling and the addition of small amounts of TiF3 in the kinetics of the hydrogen desorption of three different Ca(BH4)2 polymorphs (α, β and γ) have been systematically investigated. The samples with different polymorph ...

We demonstrate the ability of tetraalkylammonium borohydrides to capture large amounts of CO2, even at low CO2 concentrations, and reduce it to formate under ambient conditions. These materials show CO2 absorption capacities up to 30 mmolCO2 g(-1) at room ...
