Diazoolefins tend to be highly reactive compounds that rapidly lose dinitrogen. So far, most experimental evidence for diazoolefins is indirect, via trapping experiments. Here we show that diazoolefins are observed to form in reactions of N-heterocyclic ol ...

Nitrous oxide is a potential diazo transfer reagent, but its applications in organic chemistry are scarce. Here, we show that triazolopyridines and triazoloquinolines are formed in the reactions of metallated 2-alkylpyridines or 2-alkylquinolines with N2O. ...

Reactions between N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) and the trityl cation, [Ph3C]+, give covalent adducts of type [NHC–CPh3]+ and/or [NHC–C6H5–CPh2]+. EPR spectroscopy, UV-Vis analyses, and trapping experiments imply that adduct formation involves carbene rad ...

Reduction of uranyl(VI) to U-V and to U-IV is important in uranium environmental migration and remediation processes. The anaerobic reduction of a uranyl U-VI complex supported by a picolinate ligand in both organic and aqueous media is presented. The [(UO ...

The reaction of nitrous oxide (N2O) with N-heterocyclic olefins (NHOs) results in cleavage of the N–O bond and formation of azo-bridged NHO dimers. The latter represent very electron-rich compounds with a low ionization energy. Cyclic voltammetry studies s ...

One tetrahedral and two trigonal prismatic cages with π-basic Au3(pyrazolate)3 faces were obtained by connection of pre-formed gold complexes via dynamic covalent imine chemistry. The parallel arrangement of the Au3(pyrazolate)3 complexes in the prismatic ...

Bent (hetero)allenes such as carbodicarbenes and carbodiphosphoranes can act as neutral C-donor ligands, and diverse applications in coordination chemistry have been reported. N-Heterocyclic diazoolefins are heterocumulenes, which can function in a similar ...

Semiaromatic polyamides are attractive engineering polymers owing to their outstanding thermo-mechanical properties. To expand the scope of semiaromatic polyamides by additional optoelectronic features, one may consider the incorporation of extended pi-con ...

Alkylidene ketenes typically display high intrinsic reactivity, impeding isolation on a preparative scale. Herein, we report the synthesis of alkylidene ketenes by reaction of imidazole-based diazoolefins with carbon monoxide. The good thermal stability of ...

Homometallic copper complexes with alkenylidene ligands are discussed as intermediates in catalysis but the isolation of such complexes has remained elusive. Herein, we report the structural characterization of copper complexes with bridging and terminal a ...

A penta-stranded helicate was obtained by combining Pd(CH3CN)42 with La(NO3)3 and a polydentate ligand. The helicate displays low symmetry, both in solution and in the solid state. A dynamic interconversion between the penta-stranded helicate and a ...

Dichalcogenolenes are archetypal redox non-innocent ligands with numerous applications. Herein, we describe a diselenolene ligand with fundamentally different electronic properties. By selenation of a C2-protected imidazolium salt, we have prepared a mesoi ...

The reaction of cis-blocked, square-planar MII complexes with tetratopic N-donor ligands is known to give metallasupramolecular assemblies of the formula M2nLn. These assemblies typically adopt barrel-like structures, with the ligands paneling the sides of ...

Correction for Facile N-functionalization and strong magnetic communication in a diuranium(v) bis-nitride complex' by Luciano Barluzzi et al., Chem. Sci., 2019, DOI: ; 10.1039/c8sc05721d. ...

1-Aryl-3,3-dialkyltriazenes have received considerable attention in the context of synthetic and medicinal chemistry. In contrast, the chemistry of other unsaturated triazenes is largely unexplored. The synthesis of 1-allenyltriazenes is described. This ne ...

The reconstitution of [Mn]-hydrogenases using a series of Mn-I complexes is described. These complexes are designed to have an internal base or pro-base that may participate in metal-ligand cooperative catalysis or have no internal base or pro-base. Only M ...

Luminescent Ir(C^N)3 complexes (C^N = cyclometalated arylpyridine ligand) exist in the form of two stable isomers with distinct photophysical and electrochemical properties: fac and mer. Herein, we show that fac-Ir(C^N)3 complexes can be converted into the ...

A visible light-switchable buffer system based on a protonated merocyanine photoacid is presented. Para -substitution of the indolium side with a methoxy group affords a compound suitable for making hydrolytically stable aqueous buffers whose pH can be tun ...

Chiral cyclopentadienyl (CpX) metal complexes are frequently used in asymmetric catalysis by virtue of their high reactivity and selectivity. Planar-chiral-only rhodium and iridium cyclopentadienyl complexes are particularly promising due to unrestricted c ...
