Topological qubits based on Majorana Fermions have the potential to revolutionize the emerging field of quantum computing by making information processing significantly more robust to decoherence. Nanowires are a promising medium for hosting these kinds of ...

We report on a new form of III-IV compound semiconductor nanostructures growing epitaxially as vertical V-shaped nanomembranes on Si(001) and study their light-scattering properties. Precise position control of the InAs nanostructures in regular arrays is ...

The need for indium droplets to initiate self-catalyzed growth of InAs nanowires has been highly debated in the last few years. Here, we report on the use of indium droplets to tune the growth direction of self-catalyzed InAs nanowires. The indium droplets ...

Cathodoluminescence (CL) and micro-photoluminescence spectroscopies are employed to investigate effects of structural defects on carrier recombination in GaNAsP nanowires (NWs) grown by molecular beam epitaxy on Si substrates. In the NWs with a low N conte ...

This paper describes the fabrication of functional optical devices by sectioning quantum-dot-in-nanowires systems with predefined lengths and orientations. This fabrication process requires only two steps, embedding the nanowires in epoxy and using an ultr ...

Nanowires are filamentary crystals with a tailored diameter in the submicron range. This particular morphology has improved existing and inspired many novel applications such as biosensors 1, high mobility transistors, lasers 2,3 and solar cells 4. The one ...

We demonstrate the existence of two stable contact angles for the gallium droplet on top of self-assisted GaAs nanowires grown by MBE on patterned silicon substrates. Contact angle around 130 degrees fosters a continuous increase in the nanowire radius, wh ...

We study the neutral exciton (X) and charged exciton (CX) transitions from (Al,Ga) As shell quantum dots located in core-shell nanowires, in the presence of a magnetic field. The g-factors and the diamagnetic coefficients of both the X and the CX depend on ...

Thanks to their special interaction with light, semiconductor nanowires have opened new avenues in photonics, quantum optics and solar energy harvesting. One of the major challenges for their full technological deployment has been their strong polarization ...

Due to its non-destructive and its micro-spatial resolution, Raman spectroscopy is a powerful tool for a rapid structural and compositional characterization of nanoscale materials. Here, by combining the compositional dependence of the Raman peaks with the ...

Reliable doping in semiconductor nanowires is essential for the development of novel optoelectronic devices. Dopant incorporation within the nanowire can allow for optimisation of key optoelectronic properties, such as electron mobility and carrier lifetim ...

The raw data used in the publication of MBE grown Zinc Phosphide nanowires. ...

Nanowires are filamentary crystals with a tailored diameter that can be obtained using a plethora of different synthesis techniques. In this review, we focus on the vapor phase, highlighting the most influential achievements along with a historical perspec ...

importance for semiconductor nanowires because of the high surface-to-volume ratio and only little is known about the consequences of oxidation for these systems. Here, we study the properties of indium arsenide nanowires which were locally oxidized using ...

The growth of compound semiconductor nanowires on the silicon platform has opened many new perspectives in the area of electronics, optoelectronics and photovoltaics. We have grown a 1 x 1 mm(2) array of InAs nanowires on p-type silicon for the fabrication ...

Generation of Human iPSC-Derived Neurons on Nanowire Arrays Human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) are used to generate functional neurons while being cultured on nanowire arrays. The variation of the substrate geometries such as nanowire length and ...

In this work we present a method to quantitatively measure the optical absorption of single nanowires that can be applied over a wide range of temperatures and with a high enough sensitivity to enable the measurement of below-band-gap absorption (as well a ...

Thanks to their wide band structure tunability, GaAs1-xSbx nanowires provide exciting perspectives in optoelectronic and energy harvesting applications. The control of composition and strain of these ternary alloys is crucial in the determination of their ...

Selective area growth of zinc phosphide (Zn3P2) on InP provides a pathway to high-quality semiconductor nanostructures and textured thin films made of earth-abundant elements. In the precoalescence stage, Zn3P2 emerges in the form of nanoislands undergoing ...
