Enhanced second order nonlinear processes in a Si3N4 waveguide following optically induced χ(2) is demonstrated, enabling the detection of a frequency doubled pulsed train and SFG with >-37 dB conversion efficiency for 18 W pump peak power. ...

We demonstrate narrow- linewidth ultrafast tunable integrated lasers based on heterogeneously integrated thin-film lithium niobate on ultra-low loss silicon nitride integrated photonic circuits. Using self-injection locking of a hybrid microresonator, we a ...

We demonstrate a Vernier ring laser with linear frequency tuning of 1.5 GHz at 100 kHz chirp rate and wavelength switching with 7 ns rise time and 75 nW power consumption using Si3N4 photonic chip with integrated PZT actuators. ...

We demonstrate the all-optical stabilization of a low-noise temporal soliton based microresonator based optical frequency comb in a crystalline resonator via a new technique to control the repetition rate. This is accomplished by thermally heating the micr ...

The present invention concerns a method for producing at least one ferroelectric device or structure comprising the steps of providing at least one ferroelectric material or layer, or providing at least one ferroelectric material or layer to be patterned o ...

The strength of optomechanical interactions in a cavity optomechanical system can be quantified by a vacuum coupling rate g(0) analogous to cavity quantum electrodynamics. This single figure of merit removes the ambiguity in the frequently quoted coupling ...

We experimentally demonstrate tunable ST-packets carrying both time- and longitudinal-varying OAM by synthesizing temporal and spatial frequencies of a comb. A measured local OAM value is shown to change every 0.87 ps and/or 10 cm. ...

We demonstrate a 64-times multiplication of a mode-locked laser’s 217 MHz pulse repetition rate to 14 GHz using an integrated Si3N4 interleaver. Six cascaded stages of Mach-Zehnder interferometers with up to 33 cm long optical delay lines are fully integra ...

A tunable and reconfigurable optical Nyquist channels aggregation is experimentally demonstrated. The proposed method two aggregate lower order modulation formats into a single higher order one. Two 16 Gbaud QPSK Nyquist pulses aggregated to a 16 QAM Nyqui ...

We study a classical K-type three-level system based on three high-Q micromechanical beam resonators embedded in a gradient electric field. By modulating the strength of the field at the difference frequency between adjacent beam modes, we realize strong d ...

Broadband single-soliton based frequency combs, with a detectable repetition rate of 28 GHz, are efficiently generated through pulse-driving of a chip-based Si3N4 microresonator. We observe an influence of the pulse-driving rate on the comb mode linewidth. ...

The present invention concerns an optical coupling device including at least one supporting layer comprising a first support wall and a second support wall. The at least one supporting layer comprises at least one bridging waveguide for coupling electromag ...

We demonstrate a photonic integrated circuit-based Erbium laser by endowing an ultralow-loss silicon nitride integrated optical cavity with Erbium-based gain. The free-running laser achieves 50 Hz intrinsic linewidth, 17 mW output power, and 40 nm waveleng ...

We present a novel approach to generate a frequency comb based on Difference Frequency Generation (DFG). The frequency components required for the DFG process are generated in a Si(3)N(4)waveguide. A mode-locked 200 MHz oscillator is amplified in an Erbium ...

We experimentally demonstrate 7-fold multicasting of 20-Gbaud QPSK signals based on Kerr frequency combs generated in a silicon nitride microresonator. The effect of high phase-noise comb state on the multicasting performance has also been studied. ...

We report mid-infrared Kerr comb generation based on a quantum cascade laser pumping a crystalline microresonator. For the first time QCL light is coupled into a microresonator via a tapered chalcogenide fiber allowing mid-IR Kerr comb generation. ...

We study nonlinear dynamics emerging in a photonic microring dimer. It is shown that four wave mixing pathways between the dimer supermodes lead to novel nonlinear phenomena going beyond the single resonator physics. (C) 2020 The Author(s) ...

Nanomechanical resonators are highly suitable as sensors of minute forces, displacements, or masses. We realize a single plasmonic dither antenna of subwavelength size, integrated with silicon nitride nanobeams. The sensitive dependence of the antenna resp ...

We demonstrate broadband soliton-based resonant supercontinuum generation in a chip-based microresonator. We show that the soliton possesses an intrinsic ability to filter RF noise transfer from the input pulses, which can be further improved with asynchro ...

We demonstrate the first observation of optical frequency combs at the edge state of the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model. We show soliton-induced edge-bulk interaction and edge-state hopping. ...
