An optically stabilized dual-comb system at telecom wavelength is used to drive a mid-infrared spectroscopy for parallel gas-phase detection in the functional group region from 2800-3600 cm -1 . A coherent broadband intensity-enhanced spectrum in the mid-i ...

We establish a frequency link across the microwave, optical, and free-electron domains by a photonic chip-based electron phase modulator driven by a continuous-wave laser locked to a fully stabilized optical frequency comb. ...

Integrated optics has distinct advantages for applications in space because it integrates many elements onto a monolithic, robust chip. As the development of different building blocks for integrated optics advances, it is of interest to answer the importan ...

We demonstrate a strip waveguide-based LiNbO3 photonic integrated circuit fabricated with a novel hard mask, diamond-like-carbon (DLC). The steep sidewall configuration exhibits tight optical confinement and dispersion control while preserving ultra-low lo ...

Chip-based, single-frequency and low phase-noise integrated photonic laser diodes emitting in the violet (412 nm) and blue (461 nm) regime are demonstrated. The GaN-based edge-emitting laser diodes were coupled to high-quality on-chip micro-resonators for ...

We experimentally generate high-coherence primary Kerr combs with multiple sub-lines by using dual pumps and demonstrate the application of a primary comb state in multichannel communications. We find that more than 10 primary comb lines can be generated w ...

Comb-based optical arbitrary waveform measurement (OAWM) techniques can overcome the bandwidth limitations of conventional coherent detection schemes, thereby enabling ultra-broadband signal acquisition in a wide range of scien-tific and industrial applica ...

Self-injection locking effect eliminates the need for bulky narrow-linewidth, tunable, continuous-wave laser for pumping of high-Q optical microresonators, utilizing bare laser diodes. Here we propose an experimental technique, which allows measuring the m ...

The Lugiato-Lefever equation (LLE) is a fundamental nonlinear model of pattern formation in damped-driven optical Kerr cavities with applications ranging from fiber to chip-integrated optical resonators. In standard dimensionless form the LLE describes dyn ...

A detailed analysis of electromechanically induced absorption (EMIA) in a circuit nano-electromechanical hybrid system consisting of a superconducting microwave resonator coupled to a nanomechanical beam is presented. By performing two-tone spectroscopy ex ...

Silicon nitride waveguide fabrication method including providing a substrate including a stress release trench structure, the stress release recess structure being formed in a silicon oxide layer, depositing a silicon nitride material or layer onto the sil ...

We measured the absorption-limited loss at telecommunication wavelengths for thin-film lithium niobate micro-ring resonators using Kerr-calibrated linear response technique. We find the average absorption loss-rate kappa(abs)/2 pi to be 3.65 +/- 0.70 MHz, ...

We present the observation of optomechanical coupling in crystalline whispering-gallery-mode (WGM) resonators. The high purity of the material enables optical quality factors in excess of 10(10) and finesse exceeding 10(6), as well as mechanical quality fa ...

The hybrid integration of III-V gain media with low-loss photonic integrated circuits has advanced the performance of laser systems in terms of laser stability and coherence. The advent of lithium niobate on insulator (LNOI) photonics for self-injection lo ...

We demonstrate a turn-key microcomb source based on 100 GHz Si3N4 ring microresonator. The device is fully optically and electronically integrated in a compact box, which runs by pushing one button. ...

We experimentally demonstrate a scalable and reconfigurable optical tapped-delay-line (TDL) for multichannel equalization and correlation of 20-Gbaud quadrature-phase-shift-keyed (QPSK) signals using nonlinear wave mixing and a microresonator Kerr frequenc ...

We experimentally demonstrate that a single microresonator can emit two orthogonally polarized individually coherent combs: (i) a strong polarized soliton comb and (ii) an orthogonally polarized continuous wave seeded weaker comb, generated from the first ...

Advanced wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) requires both efficient multi-wavelength light sources to generate optical carriers and highly scalable photonic-electronic interfaces to encode data on these carriers. In this paper, we give an overview on o ...
