In this paper, we present the design, the implementation and the validation of a novel Internet of Things (IoT) drug monitoring system for the online continuous and simultaneous detection of two main anesthetics, e.g., propofol and paracetamol, in undilute ...

Drug development and personalized therapy require accurate and frequent monitoring of the metabolic response by living tissues to treatments. In case of high risk side effects, e.g. therapies with interfering anti-cancer molecule cocktails, direct monitori ...

Monitoring patients in intensive care units is generally expensive and time consuming. A prompter medical intervention for those critical patients is a key factor for their safety. Therefore, a system that offers immediate visualization of the monitored da ...

As being the most extensively studied, non-coding, evolutionary conserved, post-transcriptional gene regulators of genome, microRNAs (miRNAs) have taken great attention among various disciplines due to their important roles in biological processes and link ...

Over the last 11 years, the field of Memristive Sensors abruptly emerged in literature. The present review paper has the aim to acknowledge such an exciting new field of research as well as to critically review its most significant outcomes. As usual in sc ...

In order to deepen the understanding of the role of transition metal oxides in electron transfer at the electrochemical interface, the performance of ZnxNi1-xFe2O4 (x = 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1) nanomaterials in electrochemical sensing is studied. Nanomate ...

We introduce the concept of the NutriChip, a miniaturized artificial human gastrointestinal tract (GIT) for investigating the potential of immuno-modulatory function of dairy food. More specifically, we are investigating the effect of digested milk on immu ...

Silicon nanowires (SiNWs), fabricated via a top-down approach and then functionalized with biological probes, are used for electrically-based sensing of breast tumor markers. The SiNWs, featuring memristive-like behavior in bare conditions, show, in the pr ...

In this paper, a new approach for evaluating the performance of a multi-panel biosensor using linear algebra is presented. With a system-level mathematical analysis based on graphs and linear algebra, we formulate a new approach for contributions decouplin ...

Etoposide (ETO) and methotrexate (MTX) are widely used chemotherapy drugs in cancer treatment, targeting specific cellular processes crucial for DNA replication and cell division. Despite their efficacy, both drugs have significant adverse toxic effects du ...

Implantable devices can be developed for the simultaneous monitoring of a specific group of key metabolites, identified by more complex techniques, such as mass spectroscopy- or nuclear magnetic -based analysis.. Since there is a strong correlation between ...

Monitoring of metabolic compounds, such as glucose and lactate, is extensively reported in literature, especially for clinical purposes. Instead, the application of such technologies for monitoring metabolites in cell cultures has not been explored. From o ...

Biosensors benefit from specific nano- to monitor human metabolites [1], [2]. Moreover, small structuration of the active bio-interface layer. In this electrodes allow us to design many sensing sites, each perspective, a wide range of carbon nanomaterials ...

The shifting paradigm in clinical practice to remote healthcare underscores the need to develop novel biosensing modalities to rapidly and continuously assess digital and metabolic biomarkers. Sweat is a rich, heterogeneous biofluid that provides broad ins ...

Being responsible for almost 15 % of the deaths globally, infectious diseases (IDs) are considered as a major health challenge, which was lately emphasized by the COVID-19 pandemic once again. Data form COVID pandemic revealed that early and timely detecti ...

Amperometric biosensors are complex systems and they require a combination of technologies for their development. The aim of the present work is to propose a new approach in order to develop nanostructured biosensors for the real-time detection of multiple ...

Continuous monitoring of anaesthetics infusion is demanded by anaesthesiologists to help in defining personalized dose, hence reducing risks and side effects. We propose the first piece of technology tailored explicitly to close the loop between anaesthesi ...

The development of fast and mobile drug detection is an important aspect of personalized medicine. It enables the quick assessment of inter-individual differences in drug metabolism and corresponding adjustments of the dose. Recent developments of amperome ...

Gravimetric resonant-inspired biosensors have attracted increasing attention in industrial and point-of- care applications, enabling label-free detection of biomarkers such as DNA and antibodies. Capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducers (CMUTs) are ...

Simultaneous wireless information and power transfer is an emerging technique in neurotechnology. This work presents an efficient transmitter for both power transfer and downlink data communication to multiple, miniaturised and inductively-powered chips. W ...
