Topological magnon bands enable uni-directional edge transport without backscattering, enhancing the robustness of magnonic circuits and providing a novel platform for exploring quantum transport phenomena. Magnetic skyrmion lattices, in particular, host a ...

Topological defects are found ubiquitously in various kinds of matter, such as vortices in type-II superconductors, and magnetic skyrmions in chiral ferromagnets. While knowledge on the static behavior of magnetic skyrmions is accumulating steadily, their ...

Effective-medium theory and inelastic neutron scattering are used to study the magnetic excitations in the Ising ferromagnet LiHoF4 near its magnetic-field-induced quantum phase transition (QPT). As expected, the dominant mode softens at the QPT, but reach ...

Clarifying the underlying mechanisms that govern ordering transitions in condensed matter systems is crucial for comprehending emergent properties and phenomena. While transitions are often classified as electronically driven or lattice-driven, we present ...

We carried out ac magnetic susceptibility measurements and muon spin relaxation spectroscopy on the cubic double perovskite Ba2YMoO6, down to 50 mK. Below similar to 1 K the muon relaxation is typical of a magnetic insulator with a spin-liquid type ground ...

We present a detailed analysis of resonant inelastic x-ray scattering from Fe1.087Te with unprecedented energy resolution. In contrast to the sharp peaks typically seen in insulating systems at the transition-metal L-3 edge, we observe spectra which show d ...

We measure by inelastic neutron scattering the spin excitation spectra as a function of applied magnetic field in the quantum spin-ladder material (C5H12N)(2)CuBr4. Discrete magnon modes at low fields in the quantum disordered phase and at high fields in t ...

The CAMEA ESS neutron spectrometer is designed to achieve a high detection efficiency in the horizontal scattering plane, and to maximize the use of the long pulse European Spallation Source. It is an indirect geometry time-of-flight spectrometer that uses ...

We have used inelastic neutron scattering to measure the magnetic excitation spectrum along the high-symmetry directions of the first Brillouin zone of the magnetic skyrmion hosting compound Cu2OSeO3. The majority of our scattering data are consistent with ...

A paradigmatic case of multi-band Mott physics including spin-orbit and Hund's coupling is realized in Ca2RuO4. Progress in understanding the nature of this Mott insulating phase has been impeded by the lack of knowledge about the low-energy electronic str ...

Ternary alloys Co-Zn-Mn with beta-Mn-type structure exhibit helimagnetic order and skyrmion lattice states in a low-Mn-concentration region. Recent studies on Co10-x/2Zn10-x/2Mnx (CZM) revealed that the magnetic modulation period and the paramagnetic-to-he ...

Neutron scattering has been used to measure the critical behaviour of the sublattice magnetization, M, and the gap in the spin wave energies at the Brillouin zone centre, E-0, for a single crystal of the quasi-2D antiferromagnet, MnPS3. The system was prev ...

Using a time-dependent density matrix renormalization group approach, we study the dynamical structure factor of the J1-J2 spin-1 chain. As J2 increases, the magnon mode develops incommensurability. The system undergoes a first-order transition at J2=0.76J ...

The high-T-c cuprate superconductors are close to antiferromagnetic order. Recent measurements of magnetic excitations have reported an intriguing similarity to the spin wavesmagnons- of the antiferromagnetic insulating parent compounds, suggesting that ma ...

Recently a monochromatic multiple data taking mode has been demonstrated for diffraction experiments using a RITA type cold neutron spectrometer with a multi-bladed analyser and a position-sensitive detector. Here, we show how this mode can be used in comb ...

We report the neutron scattering studies of the nuclear and magnetic structures of deuterated samples of the model two-dimensional S=1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnets on a square lattice, (d(6)-5CAP)(2)CuCl4 and (d(6)-5CAP)(2)CuBr4 (where 5CAP is 2-amino-5-c ...

Nanoparticle-based magnetic resonance imaging T-2 negative agents are of great interest, and much effort is devoted to increasing cell loading capability while maintaining low cytotoxicity. Herein, two classes of mixed-ligand protected magnetic-responsive, ...

Recently, several informative reports have been published on spectroscopy experiments performed on cleaved surfaces of the bilayered colossal magnetoresistive manganite La2-2xSr1+2xMn2O7 (Konoto et al 2004 Phys. Rev. Lett. 93 107201, Freeland et al 2005 Na ...

One-dimensional (1D) magnetic insulators have attracted significant interest as a platform for studying quasiparticle fractionalization, quantum criticality, and emergent phenomena. The spin-1/2 Heisenberg chain with antiferromagnetic nearest neighbour int ...
