The recent discovery of magnetic skyrmion lattices initiated a surge of interest in the scientific community. Several novel phenomena have been shown to emerge from the interaction of conducting electrons with the skyrmion lattice, such as a topological Ha ...

Following the early prediction of the skyrmion lattice (SkL)-a periodic array of spin vortices-it has been observed recently in various magnetic crystals mostly with chiral structure. Although non-chiral but polar crystals with C-nv symmetry were identifie ...

The low-energy (epsilon = (h) over bar < 1 meV), low-temperature (T = 0.05 K) spin dynamics of the s = 1/2 kagome candidate herbertsmithite are probed in the presence of magnetic fields up to 2.5 T. The zero-field spectra reveal a very weak continuum of sc ...

A combined resistivity and hard x-ray diffraction study of superconductivity and charge ordering in Ir Ir1−xPtxTe2, as a function of Pt substitution and externally applied hydrostatic pressure, is presented. Experiments are focused on samples near the crit ...

The analyzerdetector system continuous angle multiple energy analysis will be installed on the cold-neutron triple-axis spectrometer RITA-2 at SINQ, PSI. CAMEA is optimized for efficiency in the horizontal scattering plane enabling rapid and detailed mappi ...

We report the structural transformation of hexagonal Ba3YIr2O9 to a cubic double perovskite form (stable in ambient conditions) under an applied pressure of 8 GPa at 1273 K. While the ambient pressure synthesized sample undergoes long-range magnetic orderi ...

Quantum spin liquids (QSLs) have become a key area of research in magnetism due to their remarkable properties, such as long-range entanglement, fractional excitations, and topologically protected phenomena. Recently, the search for QSLs has expanded into ...

Inelastic neutron-scattering experiments on the high-temperature superconductor La1.855Sr0.145CuO4 reveal a magnetic excitation gap Delta that decreases continuously upon application of a magnetic field perpendicular to the CuO2 planes. The gap vanishes at ...

Dark blue single crystals of Al1.753+Ti1.04+Ti0.253+O5 were grown with a novel synthesis method based on the reaction of a Ti3+/Ti4+-containing langbeinite melt and porous alpha-alumina crucible. The obtained needles crystallize in the pseudobrookite struc ...

Here we report a further investigation on the thermodynamic and transport properties, and an assessment of theoretical calculations, for the BiS2- layered Bi3O2S3 superconductor. The polycrystalline sample is synthesized with a superconducting transition t ...

We report inelastic neutron-scattering measurements of crystal-field transitions in PrFeAsO, PrFeAsO0.87F0.13, and NdFeAsO0.85F0.15. Doping with fluorine produces additional crystal-field excitations, providing evidence that there are two distinct charge e ...

The synthesis and characterization of a new class of neutral aminyl radicals is reported. Monoradicals were obtained by reduction of azoimidazolium dyes with potassium. Structural, spectroscopic, and computational data suggest that the spin density is cent ...

We investigate magnetic excitations in the spin-ladder compound Sr14Cu24O41 using high-resolution Cu L-3 edge resonant inelastic x-ray scattering (RIXS). Our findings demonstrate that RIXS couples to two-triplon collective excitations. In contrast to inela ...

We present direct local-probe evidence for strongly hybridized nuclear-electronic spin states of an Ising ferromagnet LiHoF4 in a transverse magnetic field. The nuclear-electronic states are addressed via a magnetic resonance in the GHz frequency range usi ...

An inelastic neutron scattering study of Cu2Te2O5X2 (X=Cl, Br) shows strong dispersive modes with large energy gaps persisting far above T-N, notably in Cu2Te2O5Br2. The anomalous features: a coexisting unusually weak Goldstone-like mode observed in Cu2Te2 ...

EIGER is the new thermal triple-axis-spectrometer at the continuous spallation SINQ at PSI. The shielding of the monochromator consists only of non- or low magnetizable materials, which allows the use of strong magnetic fields with the instrument. This shi ...

The time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (trARPES) allows for direct mapping of the electronic band structure and its dynamic response on femtosecond timescales. Here, we present a new ARPES system, powered by a new fiber-based femtosecond l ...

The temperature dependence of the gapped triplet excitations (triplons) in the 2D Shastry-Sutherland quantum magnet SrCu2(BO3)(2) is studied by means of inelastic neutron scattering. The excitation amplitude rapidly decreases as a function of temperature, ...

We describe the design of a low temperature scanning Hall probe microscope (SHPM) for a dilution refrigerator system. A detachable SHPM head with 25.4 mm OD and 200 mm length is integrated at the end of the mixing chamber base plate of the dilution refrige ...
