We perform subsurface ablation of atherosclerotic plaque using ultrafast pulses. Excised mouse aortas containing atherosclerotic plaque were ablated with ultrafast near-infrared (NIR) laser pulses. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) was used to observe the ...

We demonstrate the ability to guide high-frequency photoacoustic waves through thick tissue with a water-filled silica-capillary (150 mu m inner diameter and 30 mm long). An optical-resolution photoacoustic image of a 30 mu m diameter absorbing nylon threa ...

In recent years, researchers have obtained impressive reconstructions of the refractive index (RI) of biological objects through the combined use of advanced physics (nonlinear forward model) and regularization. Here, we propose an adaptation of these tech ...

The ability to train ever-larger neural networks brings artificial intelligence to the forefront of scientific and technical discoveries. However, their exponentially increasing size creates a proportionally greater demand for energy and computational hard ...

In recent years, three-dimensional (3D) printing with multi-photon laser writing has become an essential tool fur the manufacturing of three-dimensional optical elements. Single-mode optical waveguides are one of the fundamental photonic components, and ar ...

We demonstrate the first all-fiber multimode spatiotemporally mode-locked laser. The oscillator generates dissipative soliton pulses at 1036 nm with 12 mW average power, 6.24 ps duration, and 24.3 MHz repetition rate. The reported pulse energy (0.5 nJ) rep ...

We propose a data -driven approach for light transmission control inside multimode fibers (MMFs). Specifically, we show that a convolutional neural network is able to reconstruct amplitude/phase modulated images from scrambled amplitude -only images obtain ...

The present invention relates to polymeric structures, in the form of flat membrane-like surfaces or micro- nanostructures such as capsules, characterized in that it comprises a substantially two-dimensional layer of covalently-bonded monomers of R-substit ...

We demonstrate experimentally a scanning confocal microscopy technique based on digital holographic recording of the scanned spot. The data collected in this way contains all the information to produce three-dimensional images. Several methods to treat the ...

In an electrochemical reactor (R) for producing oxygen and hydrogen by means of electrolysis of an electrolyte (16), wherein the electrochemical reactor (R) comprises a first electrode set (S) and wherein the first electrode set (S) comprises a first elect ...

We present a pressured mediated tunable optofluidic dye laser with novel cavity. The dye laser chip was fabricated with Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) via replica molding and has none nano-features. It comprises a liquid waveguide and micro-scale air-gap cham ...

3D printing based on additive manufacturing is an advanced manufacturing technique that allows the fabrication of arbitrary macroscopic and microscopic objects. Many 3D printing systems require large optical elements or nozzles in proximity to the built st ...

This invention is a method and apparatus to pick up a photoacoustic signal purely via optical means and via an endoscope. The photoacoustic endoscope invention relies only on optical excitation and detection methods. A light focus spot generates a photoaco ...

We demonstrate three-dimensional imaging through a thin turbid medium using digital phase conjugation of the second harmonic signal emitted from a beacon nanoparticle. The digitally phase-conjugated focus scans the volume in the vicinity of its initial pos ...

By introducing the concepts of Parity-Phase conjugation and power eigenchannels, we show that perfect phase conjugation is possible in a single non-Hermitian multimode fiber, and determine the optimal initial conditions for maximum amplification. ...

A bending compensation device for a waveguide, including a direction changing device configured to maintain a constant bending angle to the waveguide, a distal end of the waveguide having a first orientation, and the proximal end of the waveguide having a ...

Optofluidics is a tool for synthesizing optical systems, making use of the interaction of light with fluids. In this paper we explore optofluidic mechanisms that have evolved in plants where sunlight and fluidic control combine to define most of the functi ...

Spatio-temporal control of femtosecond pulse-delivery through multimode fibers (MMF) can be used to achieve two photon photo-polymerization. Transmission-matrix method is used in linear domain to solve the scrambling effect at the fiber output and generate ...

We report an optofluidic photoswitchable grating, based on a polydimethylsiloxane periodic structure on a glass substrate, separated by a thin liquid crystal film. The polydimethylsiloxane microstructure was realized via high resolution replica molding and ...

We review coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) holography as a non-scanning, label-free, three-dimensional imaging technique. The theory of CARS and its integration with digital holography is explored. We then discuss the experimental implementatio ...
